Fear crawled over Martha's skin; not because her mother was going through this agony but because she feared what is going to happen to her mother in the next instance when she associated her helplessness to that of her late father.
She gasped in fear as her worst of sufferings began to unveil themselves in front of her. Ronan too held Martha's mother in the air for a while to prove to the young wench of how ruthless and gruesome the werewolves could be to someone.
Ronan was further encouraged when Alpha, even after resigning from killing Martha's mother, did not object when Ronan was putting her under intense distress.
Ronan first looked Martha into her eyes and then shifted his gaze towards Cindy who bore a nonchalant face.
Neither did she seem to be under distress of soon going to die nor was she horrified as her daughter was for presuming that she will be seeing her mother for the last time now and never again.
This irritated Ronan who, in order to take the pain out on her face, tightened the grip around Cindy's neck but without any result. Cindy appeared lifeless.
She raised her head up for the last time to catch a glimpse of her daughter Martha before Ronan finally, with great force, threw Cindy and she smashed her head against the wall. Martha, in an instant, shouted her head off, "Mommy!" She was no longer within the hold of Alpha so she began to sprint towards her mother.
Even if she were under the hold of Alpha's muscles, she would have somehow gotten out of it as going by the amount of energy she possessed in sprinting towards her mother; she could have barely been stopped by any force.
Her mother too was now about to meet the end of her life and lay on the floor with her front facing upwards.
She was at a loss of breath and therefore was gasping heavily.
Not that she wanted to live anymore but she wanted to sustain till she give her last words to her daughter before she finally departs from the world. Martha got on her knees and placed the head of her mother on her lap and caressed her by the hairs.
In just one movement of her hand inside her hair, she got the blood on her hands that came out as a result of hitting her head against the wall.
Cindy held Martha by her hand that was caressing her hair and in doing so, saw the blood smeared on her hand. Cindy held her daughter's hand for the last time and said with her voice breaking, "Martha…..I have done much wrong to you today that you would probably not forgive me as long as you stay alive…." – Martha shook her head repeatedly as her mother kept on taking the blames upon herself – "At last, I just seek forgiveness from you my dear child.
If you could, just forgive for I have made you a part of this misery" – Martha repeatedly argued with her mother that it was not her fault at all and to stop blaming herself – "At last, I just want to say something to you…..You were never a disappointment to me honey.
You have always been bliss to my life" Her mother finally expressed the joy of having Martha in her life with a faint smile since that's the best she could do at that moment. Martha too was reminded of the instance when her mother earlier that day had called her a disappointment and she had got offended by that.
Martha responded with a smile accompanied by tears in her eyes. "Just take care of yourself and...take care….of..." Cindy was no more now.
