Chapter 43 - Chapter 43

Cindy, now instead of Benjamin, prayed to God as it was now upon the almighty to ensure the safety of Benjamin.

"God, it is all upon you now!" she cried. Benjamin had now come within the range of the werewolf while his hand in the air extended to grab the neck of the beast.

The werewolf smirked for it knew how foolish of a person Benjamin was to charge a being hundred times stronger than him. It noticed Benjamin's hand approaching for its neck and pitied for what it was about to do to him in the next few moments.

It first raised his left hand to defend the frail attack on Benjamin's part.

It simply grabbed his hand and twisted it a bit. While twisting the hand as feeble as it was for the werewolf, he very tightly clasped it that led to a loud cry from Benjamin.

The cry contained both the pain of Benjamin's helplessness and the fury of not being able to avenge the derogatory remarks made by the werewolf on his daughter.

Tears rolled out of his eyes, not because of the pain of the twisting of his hand but solely because of his helplessness in this.

Cindy shouted for her husband, "Benjamin! No!" but her plea was, like earlier, of no avail.

Her eyes got the view of the werewolf's right hand that braced itself to attack. Shivers ran down Cindy's spine as she foresaw her husband meeting his death.

Her senses got fully triggered and in no time, she found herself sprinting towards the staircase to do anything in the best of her ability to prevent the offence against her husband. Benjamin didn't take note of the preparedness of the werewolf.

He was busy with his own anguish that he didn't notice a severe attack coming his way.

The werewolf, before Benjamin could apprehend the attack or Cindy reach the scene in time, swiftly raised his hand and forcedly banged it on Benjamin's face.

The anguish and the helplessness of Benjamin were now a thing of the past for him. He had somewhat lost his senses though life was still within him.

His mouth was wide open and blood spurted out from it. One of his eyes was severely bruised and the other was barely able to give him a view of what surrounded him.

His breathing picked up pace as his body summoned more air to keep him alive. Benjamin further produced a peculiar sound that was a corollary to the heavy breathing sound.

There were only a handful of breathes left in him. One could count his last breaths on fingers. Cindy had halted midway as soon as she saw blood spurting out of her husband's body.

She had lost all hope from life. Seeing the love of her life die, she couldn't find any reason worth living anymore. She wanted to accompany her husband to the afterlife. Not even did she care about her daughter.

Or probably for the moment, she was not concerned about anything more than Benjamin. She wanted him to live for he was not at all blameworthy of the misery the three of them had got themselves in. "It is me who should be no more allowed to live.

It is me who should be held responsible for all of this" she regretted every single moment of watching her husband counting his last breaths.

She clenched her fists hard and refused to raise her head up. She just hoped somebody would snatch the life out of her before her husband die because she would not be able to bear the death of her husband and felt better to die than to watch her husband die. Martha stood there like sculpture as she witnessed her entire world falling apart right in front of her eyes.

Martha bore no expression as she doubted every moment of that instance. She clenched her fists; not because she wanted to control herself from letting out her emotions but to question reality.

She clenched her fists even tighter that gave her a bit of pain so to check if this was actually the reality or just a nightmare.

Alas, this was in no way a dream but the naked reality. But Martha was somehow still not convinced at believing this version of reality.

The werewolf was having the life of its time as it wasn't quite often for it to pierce his claws through flesh of a human being, given the secluded place the pack used to dwell in.

In further course of its enjoyment, he gave another mighty blow on Benjamin, this time on his torso. The second time it hit was even harder than the former blow.

His claws pierced deep into the skin of Benjamin's chest, penetrating the part underneath his ribs.

It could have been said earlier that Benjamin was still alive by looking at his eye that was not bruised. As of now, that very eye was deprived of life; it conveyed death.

The werewolf had not even let him live his last breaths fully and just snatched life from him. Benjamin had let out a deep sigh as the claws of the werewolf broke through his ribs.

Cindy, though her eyes low, was able to gain the sight of the lower part of the scene.

Almost after the deep sigh that symbolized the departure of life out of Benjamin, she observed the right hand of the werewolf get besides its torso.

She even saw its claws smeared by blood; blood of Benjamin.

Part of Cindy was still not convinced at her husband's death but was soon made to believe it after she saw blood dripping on the floor; right below where Benjamin stood.

Cindy, Martha, Alpha, Ronan; everyone heard that deep sigh that apparently spoke on behalf of Benjamin his willingness to live more.

Both Alpha and Ronan were relieved for they do not need to argue anymore with that blabbering creature.

Martha's and Cindy's reaction were obviously in contrast to that of Alpha and Ronan.
