Chapter 38 - Chapter 38

Though the werewolf at the back had its grip around Martha's neck, she decided to plead to the greater werewolf who appeared to be quite enjoying the show where this girl seems to be experiencing such a pain for the first time.

Martha, thought not being able to move her head even a bit, moved her eyeballs to her left where the greater werewolf stood and muttered to the best of her survival instincts that were triggered at that time, "P—l---e-a—se" and then signaled it to the claws that were on the verge of bursting blood out of Martha's neck.

Understood from her gesture, the greater werewolf now smiled widely so to express its pleasure to Martha that it was deriving out of her misery.

Martha, however, wasn't at all concerned of what he or anyone else felt of her state and just wanted to get out of this grip.

She was losing her breath.

She could sense the blood halting in her veins. Her eyelids were about to adjoin which will disable her to take note of the surroundings.

She couldn't take it anymore.

A last thought that originated in her mind was – "It is a blackout" while in the hindsight, she could die anytime if she weren't to let go of the claws.

The greater werewolf understood that she was on the verge of dying and turned to the other werewolf and looked at it.

Once their eyes met, the wolf that had been holding Martha by her neck loosened the grip a bit.

Martha's body was brought to relief by this loosened grip and she could now breathe somewhat better.

She sighed deeply so as to regain her consciousness though she still hadn't gotten off those claws.

The greater werewolf was now assured that the girl wouldn't be dying by suffocation now.

It then again looked at the other werewolf and signaled it to the interior of the inside.

The other werewolf very well understood the signal and pulled back Martha a little in a way to throw her into the house, with much higher force than what the greater werewolf used to thrash Benjamin inside. Martha fell on the floor inside the house, still not wholly conscious. She had collapsed on the floor.

A few feet ahead of her sat her mother who cried relentlessly and was less concerned of her daughter's suffering and more concerned with blaming herself for this misery she have put all three of them in. Martha lifted herself a bit from the ground and began to slowly crawl towards her mother.

She was deeply agonized by both the physical and mental suffering she had taken in the last few minutes.

Therefore, in course of crawling towards her mother, she tried to avoid her physical discomfort as well as her surroundings in hope to avoid any other gross act around her. Martha finally reached for her mother and firstly, through her hands, wiped the tears off her mother's face after they had scarred Cindy's face.

She caressed her face and kept telling her, "It is not your fault mommy.

You didn't do it for us to face such an agony eventually. I know the trade has gone off and these monsters aren't letting us go.

We are in this together.

Just remember you're not alone!" she muttered. This did impacted Cindy and she recollected herself from the breakdown.

She tucked behind the strands that have made their way to the face while she was crying uncontrollably.

She then hugged Martha tightly while her daughter reached out to her ear and kept on whispering to her, "Everything's going to be fine mommy.

You need not panic.

I am here for you" As much as Martha consoled herself, as much Cindy condemned each of her step at which she could have backed off from this uneventful journey and thereby sighed in despair.

As both the ladies embraced each other, Cindy could see everything right behind Martha's back; the werewolves, the door that had been shut after they thrashed Martha in and of course Benjamin lying on the floor unconscious. "Martha" she said.

Martha withdrew from the embrace to face her mother; her back still facing her unconscious father. "Yes mommy?" she asked.

Cindy didn't say anything but just signaled her daughter through her eyes towards Benjamin. Martha's eyes followed her mother's eyes that looked beyond her.

She turned behind to see what those eyes beheld.

She turned reluctantly behind as whatever her mother had wanted her to see, Martha still would have to face those monsters that remained at her back. Upon turning back, she saw her father lying on the floor, not moving a bit.

Cindy had asked Martha because she had lost all hope she had from this agreement and didn't have that strength to command the situation in hand.

She banked on Martha since her daughter was the one who had imparted the little strength Cindy now had in this terrific situation.

Somehow, she got the impression that Martha was way stronger in such tough times while she isn't and deep down in her hearts, applauded for her daughter's bravery.

Martha, without taking note of the werewolf's ugly face, crawled towards her father as she still couldn't cope with getting up and walk towards him.

However, she did take note of the feet of both the feet so to be ready to retaliate if any of them approaches her, though not being quite sure about how she would be retaliating.

She crawled towards her father whilst keeping a surreptitious eye on the feet of the werewolves.

She reached and tried waking her father up.

"Daddy, get up! Please get up." She tapped on her arm a handful of times to wake him up but to no avail. "The werewolf who had earlier grabbed Martha by her neck jokes,

"I am afraid Alpha might have thrashed him with so much force that he has gone dead" saying so, he laughed loudly.

Martha too was hearing its remarks and could barely keep the rage within her. She looked up to see the werewolf that still had some of Martha's blood smeared on his claws.
