A couple of days later, evening.
"Mayor, the heat is about to arrive. If we don't do something, many will suffer!"
"... no, I don't think that is enough reason to kill a child."
Inside the town hall, the old mayor who was once the village chief sat on the front seat while the others on the side of the table. These others were all men, or specifically, fathers in the said town. There are three of them.
"Mayor, please reconsider. This is not about morality or what is good and what is wrong anymore. If we don't take action, many will die."
"Yes, we just have to take this one child out, the Imagi failed his task to heal him, and we can demand reconnecting to the city again!"
"Mayor, you do know how important for us to be a part of the Hramm City. Two years ago, we were about to reach prosperity but then that selfish traitor Heron ended that!"
The Town Mayor sighed. Although these three were always persuading him, he had to admit that realistically speaking, they should do it.
"But who will take the burden? Does success always need a sacrifice? Will our town be built on a dead child?"
"..."
The three fathers were silenced until one spoke again.
"Mayor... I'm going to be honest with you. A town built on a dead child is better than a dying town."
The Town Mayor was surprised by their determination to make this happen.
"Al... alright. I will take responsibility. I will let you do your crime. However, make it fast and painless. After that, we will accept the mourning family, treat them well. Is that an agreement?"
The three fathers were not specifically happy that they will do this. They just felt it was necessary. They have their own family, they sympathize with Heron a little. However, that doesn't mean that they can forgive him for endangering others.
"What is fast and painless to kill?"
"A poison?"
"No, that's hard to make. We don't have any experience in alchemy."
"It doesn't have to be integrated with imaginary energy. I'm not expecting it to be, none of us are Imagi anyway."
"Then it wouldn't be fast and painless."
The Town Mayor knew that these three were just finding a way to respect his orders but... it's too much to hear. So he stood and left...
"Why do we have to complicate it. We just find a copper or metal sledgehammer then bash his... head in his sleep."
"We're really going to do this?"
"We have no choice or it's our family that will suffer."
"So when are we going to do it?"
"Any night is the perfect night as long as they're asleep. So how about this midnight?"
"Right, the sooner, the better. We will have more time to prepare for the heat."
"... of course."
.....
Back to the house beside a lake. Elihim had yet to find his goal.
'This is expected but still bad. I know the chances are slim but finding a cave filled with valuable minerals will be a stretch of luck. And luck, I only have a bad one right now.'
He sighed as he doubled the birds he controlled in the sky, taking two different routes. The two birds were Drake and Jake. Elihim just mindlessly named them to have better control.
Even in the evening, they were continuously searching until Elihim release them from their control so that they can take care of themselves. If he didn't do that, they would die of exhaustion or hunger.
The distance was getting farther and farther, however, the difficulty was still the same for Elihim. He already had a ton of experiences regarding this.
While suffering from seeing the lovey-dovey moments of Lyssa and Heron, he and Ellie tried to get away. Not to give them private time but just to get away.
Therefore, with them two alone with Lyssa watching over them less, Ellie remembered.
"Elihi, when are you going to teach me about the Imagi?" she looked up with expectant eyes.
Elihim did remember that he promised to teach her. Only if he learned how the strange power in this world works.
'Although I'm still a beginner toward the imaginative power, I think I can teach it to her.'
"Sure"
"But you promise-... sure? Yey!" Ellie was first sad before jumping everywhere from excitement.
"However, don't tell this to either mom or dad, do you promise?"
"Yes, Elihi, I promise" Ellie saluted like a soldier.
"Good, if you tell them I will disappear."
"Disappear? Why? Where are you going? I don't want Elihi to go!"
"No, if they learn that I'm an Imagi, they will send me to the academy. So here's the plan, Ellie, I will teach you and you will become an Imagi as well. So that we can go to the academy together."
"Akademi?" Ellie just made a confused expression.
"Umm, it's where they teach you how to be smart and have strong superpowers." Elihim simply explained.
'That plan is still for later anyway. I don't want to be regarded as a genius anymore. I'm just going to use Ellie to get to the academy without attracting attention. With no one relying on or expecting something from me, the less interaction, and the less Karma to manage.'
Elihim smiled.
'Yes, it is not because I want to bring her with m-'
"So how do I do it, Elihi?" Ellie put her tongue out of concentration. She pointed her index finger up, hoping a fire or a spark will magically appear.
"Hahaha... what are you doing?"
Elihim found Ellie's "concentrating" face funny. She looked mindless and an airhead instead.
"Ellie, if you think quick, what is one thing in this world you like and can describe?" he quickly asked.
"Clouds! They are roundish and I know that they are actually water! Some are roundish and some are just flat... and if they become heavy, they will fall and that is rain." Ellie described while being proud of this knowledge.
"Clouds...? That will be a bit hard... but have you seen a mist?"
"A mist?"
They were in their room, Elihim opened the window and with a wave of his hand, mist formed from the trail of his hand movement.
'Good thing we are near a lake. We have high humidity, it's easy to condense them to a mist. Then mist condensation will become fog.'
He just thought since saying it out loud would definitely confuse his young little sister.
