Chapter 27 - First Problem, Temporarily Checked

During the entire dinner, Ellie was unable to eat due to the fact that her jaw almost fell to the ground.

For the first time in her life, instead of cold gazes, it was warm and cozy, almost sickeningly sweet.

Even though Lyssa and Heron sat opposite each other because of some old habits, they would frequently stare at each other for a few seconds before smirking while trying to hide that they were happy.

Even at a young age, Ellie felt embarrassing looking at the two.

Meanwhile, Elihim had a guilty expression.

'They are already in heat... and the fuel... they're eating a lot of it.'

While Elihim thinks about it, Heron suddenly coughed, taking their attention.

"I'm kind of... tired. I'll go to bed. You, children, should go to bed after this, okay?"

Heron looked at Ellie and Elihim. Ellie staring at his obvious lie while Elihim was averting his gaze out of shame and guilt.

"Eh..." Heron frowned at this but glancing at Lyssa, he didn't care anymore.

'How many years did we last do it? Is this the effect of love that I forgot? I feel so hot all of a sudden.'

"Ehem, your father is right. You should go to bed after this."

Without any warning, she took the plates and utensils she and Heron left. Lyssa then sloppily placed them at a small basin filled with water before following Heron to the room as if excited.

The two left the living room an awkward silence.

"... Ellie, come on, let's sleep."

"But... the sun just set down...?" Ellie confusedly tilted her head.

"Yes, but we need to sleep." Elihim urged, 'Before they start making noises. Good thing our rooms are at the opposite end of the corridor.'

Ellie obediently followed Elihim and both of them slept without any problems. They were still children, after all. At least, in a child body for the older brother.

...

When morning came, Heron came out of the room energized. It was as if nothing can stop him today.

Elihim peeked and saw that his parents were now closer than yesterday. But without the initial heat and fuel adding on it, they looked tamer now.

When Lyssa set Heron off, she looked like a young maiden.

Seeing this made Elihim smile.

'At least it was all worth it. I hope they continue being like that.'

Coming back to the cozy bed Elihim snuck out of, he snuggled Ellie again to come back to his original position.

'First problem, temporarily checked. As long as we are in poverty, Heron will go through hardship. Stress will build up within him again and that will make him lash out at Lyssa. Therefore, while he still can handle the pressure, I should fix our poverty first...'

In his head, he was going through different plans.

'No, that will be too long to take...'

'Too far...'

'Too hard...'

'Too unbelievable!'

... until he reached the perfect plan.

'This! Although a bit improbable, if this succeeds, not only will we become rich again, Heron's image to the town will be fixed. Furthermore, it will make the town valuable. Even without the Viscount's help, the Hramm City will want to re-establish the connection to the town.'

Elihim felt comfortable with his plan and went off to sleep. He had a slightly Bad Karma so placing his bets on luck should be the worst thing to do. However, it was already the best bet on the table.

When Ellie woke up did so Elihim, again. His little sister became his personal and adorable alarm clock.

'Good thing that the only things I archived are the vast knowledge that I got from the Processor. I still know a few techniques to a successful Law Proposal.'

So while Elihim played with Ellie on the surface and acted like a child would, on the back of his head, he would control a bird he named Drake.

Drake is just a simple pigeon. Agile as a bird should be, as long as Elihim notices danger in advance, Drake will be fine.

While Elihim act like nothing was happening, his personal drone, Drake was scouting the lands.

Multi-tasking... one of Elihim's specialties. It was cultivated from his experiences as a Law Overlord. No, even before that, it began when he was cultivating his soul in his third life in the World of Soul.

Elihim can control up to a hundred birds and more individually!

It was just that, the Law would tax him more if he did that.

'If I have this, I will deactivate all my Laws and create a new one that exchanges using this mineral.'

There is a basis for how much one worth in the World System's consideration. The rarer the thing that one possessed, the more valuable it should be. Even if it does not have any benefits to the person, as long as the World System deemed it rare, it is valuable.

Therefore, stamina, albeit common, is expendable and is a necessity to people, making it hard to use as an exchange, therefore, a little rarer than common possessions. However, something like a limb or lifespan should fall to the category of unique - a one and only - in the whole world or what people in the World of Law would usually call "Sole"

That is why skilled Law Makers are dangerous. If they pass a Law that exchanges a Sole Possession, the effect would be significant like moving mountains or splitting heavens.

Therefore, Law Makers are categorized based on the rarity class of exchanges their Law depends: Ordinary, Limited, Precious, Special, Exquisite, Treasure, and finally, Sole.

Of course, Elihim once reached Law Overlord, able to use Sole Possessions as easy as walking.

This was his greatest advantage as of now. His Crowned Karma had turned to just Bad Karma. His Perfect Soul broke, leaving him with the first stage, Soul Searching. His Godhood vanished, leaving him [Faithless]. Although he had archive some knowledge, that doesn't mean that all knowledge was gone. He was still able to reach at least Exquisite Exchange which would make him a Law Supreme, above Law Master and just under Law Monarch.

If he was back at the World of Law, he would be an insane genius for being a Law Supreme and that should be enough for him to get through this life while still training as an Imagi.
