At this point in time, she was 13 and had about three quarters mastery in this level of her quirk but she was still improving albeit somewhat slowly since she didn't really have anyone guiding her. In school, she was teased for her weak quirk but they didn't mess with her for very long before she exposed every last one of her bullies She was wearing a light blue hooded tank top with loose light blue jeans and black shoes. This differed from her work out clothes since those were a black skin tight tank top, black leggings and depending on where she was she wore shoes.
For almost half the summer, all she is doing is training her powers and her body along with the one weapon she seemed to be any good at for the UA entrance exams. Her mom trusted in her and her control of her powers to let her do this so long as she was home before midnight on school days and just checking in any other time. She decided to take a break one day and go to the park. She was just going to relax and do her own thing. What she least expected to see was the one thing greeting her at the park.
There were several underground heroes but no crowd surrounding them. She wanted to talk to them but also could feel their need for some peace. Well, except for one. All she could sense from them was exhaustion, pain, guilt, regret and much more and all that almost drowned out everyone else's. She looked around and tried to pin down the person it was coming from and eventually saw a man in all black sitting against a tree. 'I wonder what's wrong? Should I go talk to him?' She shrugged that doubt off and walked around the tree, noticing the fact that he didn't notice her. "Are you alright? I could hear you sniffling a little..." This wasn't a total lie as she could hear him from where she was at.
It took him a minute to respond but when he did it was quiet and his voice matched the pain he radiated. "I'm fine thank you." She heard him sniffle again and she sighed.
"I'm sorry for prying but I know for a fact that you are far from alright. Please tell me what's wrong? Maybe I can help?" That was all she wanted to do for him and would fight for it if she had to. She heard him sigh but didn't hear anymore sniffles.
"What do you know huh? You know what it's like to watch the person closest to you die in front of your eyes? You know what it's like to go against what your family believes in? You know what it's like to not know what to do about any of that?" He broke down crying, still staying quiet but she could still hear him and she broke a little more making her go and hug him.
"I know what it's like to lose the person you care most for. I know what it's like to not know what to do with your emotions and the situations we put ourselves in. I also know that you are a grown man so who cares if your family doesn't support you? You support and care about you for a while. You take care of yourself and take a break from everything for a while and come back refreshed. It's what is going to be the best thing for you and everyone around you." She smiled softly and just held him while he cried. This lasted for a few hours before he hugged her back and sighed.
"Thank you. I needed that." He said in a rough, scratchy voice since his was a little messed up with the crying. She just nodded and continued to hug him gently. "I'm sorry for snapping at you like that...."
"Everyone needs to let loose like that at least once a day even if they don't know they need it. You just needed it more than most. This is just what I do. I find the people that need to break down and help them... I love what I do and wouldn't go about life any differently. People need this too much." She smiled gently as he pulled her closer and kept her close. "You have nothing to apologize for."
"Please, stay here a while? I don't want you to go yet....." He was good at hiding the damaged voice he had but she was able to see through it and nodded. "Thank you Rhea...."
'Rhea huh? I like it. I'll keep it in mind.' She smiled gently and sat down next to him. "If you are going to call me Rhea then I'll call you Kronos." He chuckled and nodded.
"Fair enough." They continued talking for the rest of the night before they went home but met under that tree each and every night that summer and promised each other one thing. "Never forget me?" They sealed it with a hug on the last day of summer before they went to school, one to teach and the other to learn. This continued on for two years. By then, Nakama Masa was 15, exponentially increased her range and potency, her brother had moved out and was well on his way to achieving his goal and it was the summer yet again. "Rhea? Why did you come up to me all those years ago?"
"Because you needed me the most. The others were just stressed or had minor things that will go away with time but you.... You needed help getting to that point. So, I came and helped you as best I could." She noticed the look of sorrow and confusion on his face and she sighed. "Where is this coming from?"
"I-I'm not entirely sure. You know life is hard and makes you get down on your knees to beg for mercy sometimes... I suppose I'm just going through one of those times." He leaned against her and she just held him while he did.
"Well, you know I'm here for you no matter what so just let it out when you need to. I am not going to judge you, you know that or at least you should by now." She noticed he was half asleep and sighed. "Didn't sleep well last night?" She chuckled as he shook his head gently and got comfortable. "Then get some rest. I'll be here when you wake up." He nodded and fell asleep, putting his head in her lap as he fell asleep. She leaned against the tree and closed her eyes, relaxing a little, wondering what else she could do for him.
~~~A few hours later~~~
She was the first one to wake up and see how late it was. 'When did I fall asleep? How late is it?!' She sighed and looked down at her lap where Aizawa was still sleeping. "Kronos, wake up. It's late. We both fell asleep." He woke up a couple minutes later and sat up, stretching and yawning.
"Sorry Rhea." He looked over at her just to see a slightly smiling face which only served to make him smile ever so slightly.
"It's quite alright. After all, I told you to get some rest did I not?" She was completely ok with it.
He didn't want to lose her to something he could protect her from and didn't want to lose her in general. "Well, since you have helped me so much, shown a lot of rescue potential and proven yourself in more ways than one, I want to offer you a recommendation to UA. Will you accept it?" He chuckled when he saw her expression light up.
"I mean if you really think that I can become a hero then there's no question but I'm more of a support or rescue type...." She chuckled and rubbed the back of her head as she smiled gently. He chuckled at her modesty and nodded.
"You have the heart of a true hero and I'd have no greater pleasure than to teach you. What do you say?" He hugged her as she nodded enthusiastically. "Now, shields can be amazing in combat or rescue and support so which course do you want to go into?"
"Did you forget that I'm an empath? My quirks are meant for rescue and support." He just hung his head while Masa laughed a little and smiled. "Why am I not surprised?"
"Hey! Rude!" Even so, he couldn't help but laugh and they talked for another hour before heading home for the night, only to do it all again the night before school started always under the tree or walking around the park. "Any questions about UA?"
"Well, what are you going to teach your class the first day?" She hadn't told him what class she'd be in and wanted to keep it that way till she got into the classroom so she could surprise him.
"Quirk apprehension test. There are eight different physical tests to gage the potential of them, their use of their quirk and the quirk itself. I'll be telling a lie to make sure they don't hold back and give it everything they've got." He chuckled and looked over. "Why? Are you going to finally tell me which class you'll be in?"
"Nope but I will say this. I'm excited for my first day. Also, who else teaches at UA?" She tilted her head and smiled gently. She listened while he told her the teachers that would be at UA and answered all her questions. 'This is going to be fun. Just got to be careful with Present Mic's lessons... and the provisional license exams... and my classmates.... This is going to be an interesting year...' She chuckled at her thoughts and sighed while Aizawa looked at her like she were crazy.
After a while, she remembered that it was late and sighed again. "Well, I think it's about time we both went home. I mean we have somewhere to be tomorrow do we not?" He chuckled and nodded before getting up and offering to help her up as well which she gratefully took and smiled. "I'll see you tomorrow Kronos. Hey, at school, can I still call you Kronos?"
"Of course Rhea. Though I doubt we will see each other very often if you aren't in class 1-A." He began walking away but she was heading that way as well and so they continued talking until Rhea had gotten home. "Good night Rhea." He then went home and went to bed.
