The next morning was kinda lazy for Dawn. Hazel's party was wild and exciting making it hard for her to get out of bed. She also couldn't believe that Hazel would allow someone like her to join her party especially in their home. The most insane part is the fact that Hazel confessed that she was seeing a hottie from the Los Calabasas's Highschool. His name was Dwight. She had to wake up and do her normal chores then get ready for school. She loathed her white shirt with short flare navy blue skirt uniform that always made her look younger than her age.
After having cereal breakfast in the dining she picked up her bag and was headed for the door when she heard her mother call her.
"Dawn!" She stood at the staircase. Dawn turned back to face her and she saw her holding her car keys.
"You forgot your keys." Leslie threw the keys at her and Dawn made a catch. "Or should I say Max's keys?"
"That's not funny." Dawn scoffed stretching her skirt downwards.
"It's not funny either with what you are doing. Dawn...you don't need such a fancy car to prove to your friends that you're worth their type. If Hazel and the rest are real friends they'd accept you for who you are and not for your material items." Leslie had to make sure that she got her words right into her head.
"I don't wanna be lectured!"
Leslie decided to walk down the staircase and approach her to where she was standing.
"I am telling you the truth. And I'm sorry if it hurts you or not Miss but you better return this car to the owner right now!" She saw her mum's anger. She was mad at her. But she never understood her reasons as to why she had to borrow Max's car in the first place.
"Why do you care about the a car anyway?" Dawn threw her hands in the air.
"I don't care about the fucking car I care about you. You're wasting your time trying to prove yourself Superior to people who don't even value you."
"Mum.. I'm getting late for school."
"Max called last night when you were at Hazel's. He said that he owes you 5,000 dollars. He wants his money by the end of this week."
"How did he even get your number?"
"I hear he's an IT expert so he must've hacked my number down. Honey I don't even know where we're gonna get that kinda money from by this week."
Dawn could see the sadness that succumbed her mother's face. She wasn't happy with her.
"But I promised him I'll get his money next Tuesday." Dawn whined.
"And where will all that money come from?"
"I..." Dawn rubbed her temples. She was starting to have migraines. "I don't know." She whimpered.
Leslie leaned in and hugged her daughter warmly kissing her forehead.
"No matter what happens.. we're in this together. I promise you."
