Narration by Ms Margaret Dracken
August 19, 1955
We finally upgraded our little band.
I play an electric guitar now, Felicia has an electric bass and Jessie played a full drum set.
It was nice to have a proper stage to perform on and we got a lot more attention.
The only thing we needed was a name for the band.
I suggested the name, the Vampire/Werewolf sisters.
However, we needed something that would catch the audience's attention.
Felicia suggested the name, the Velvet Coffin.
Jessica suggested the name, the Bloody Fang.
After much debate, we decided to keep the name, the bloody fang.
It was a perfect name, and we loved it.
We practiced a lot, and we were getting a lot better.
We also came up with a plan for finding someone to make into a werewolf.
It was a simple plan.
We would play a gig in a town and try to find someone who was interested in joining us.
Then, we would see if they could accept us as we are.
"Hello everyone," I said, "And thank you for coming out tonight. Our name is the bloody fang. This is my sister, Felicia, and her friend, Jessica. We are going to be singing for you. Let's get started."
"Yeah," said Felicia.
We started playing our music.
The audience was cheering.
"Thank you," I said, "We will be back in a few minutes."
"Wow," said Jessica, "You two are really good. That was great."
"Thanks," said Felicia, "So, are you ready to find someone who can become a werewolf?"
"Yeah," I said, "I am."
"Alright," said Felicia, "Let's do it."
After a few hours of singing, the show was over.
We went backstage to relax.
"So," said Felicia, "Anyone interested in joining us?"
"Yes," I said, "I saw a beautiful girl who played piano. She was very good, like a modern day Mozart."
"She did sound good," said Felicia, "What do you think, Jessica?"
"Yes, I saw her play earlier. Her name is Elizabeth and she is a prodigy. She's also very pretty and has a lovely voice. She seems very nice. And, yes, her music is beautiful. If you like, I can invite her back here to talk. Would that be alright with you, Margaret?"
"Yes," I said, "That would be fine. Let's see if she would like to join our band."
"Okay," said Jessica, "I will go ask her."
Jessica went out to find Elizabeth.
"What do you think, Felicia? Should we give her a chance? Do you think she can accept us as we are?"
"I think so," said Felicia, "We should at least give her a chance. She did seem very nice, and she is a very talented musician. If nothing else, we could use her to play backup vocals."
"Yes," I said, "Let's give her a try. But, before we let her in, we need to be sure she can handle the truth about us. Otherwise, it would just cause problems."
"I agree," said Felicia, "If she can't handle the truth, then we should just let her go."
"Okay," I said, "let's hear what she has to say."
Jessica returned with Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth," I said, "Please, sit down.
Elizabeth sat down and smiled as she brushed her auburn hair back out of her face.
"Nice to meet you," she said,
"It's a pleasure," said Felicia.
"Thank you," I said, "My name is Margaret. We watched you play earlier, and we were very impressed. Are you interested in joining our band?"
"Yes," she said, "but, is there a catch?"
"Yes," I said, "There is a catch. It's a pretty big catch, actually. And, before we tell you, we need to know that you can handle it. So, I am going to ask you this one question: Can you handle the truth?"
"Yes," she said, "Of course.
I smiled.
"Very well," I said, "Do you believe in vampires or werewolves? Or, anything like that?"
"No," she said, "but, I would love to learn more about them."
"Okay," I said, "that's fine. Well, the thing is, I am a vampire. Felicia is a werewolf, Jessica is also a vampire. Now, the reason we asked is because, if you are going to join us, you must accept what we are."
"What? You can't be serious. You have got to be joking! Vampires and werewolves are not real. And if you are one, I want nothing to do with you. I will leave right now if that is the case."
"Oh, they're real alright. They're very real. I am a vampire."
I opened my mouth and allowed my canine teeth to grow.
Elizabeth jumped back in surprise.
"Oh, don't be scared," I said, "I would never harm you. The true is, we are a vampire/werewolf band and we would like you to join us."
"Join you? You must be kidding. No one can be a vampire and a werewolf. How can that be possible? What are you really?"
"I told you," I said, "I'm a vampire. I made Jessica into a vampire a long time ago. We have been best friends ever since."
"Wow," said Elizabeth, "That's incredible. You're not lying. Okay, I believe you. But, what about werewolves. Is it true that they change on a full moon?"
"Yes," I said, "It is. Felicia changes during the full moon. And, she also changes due to strong emotions, such as anger or fear."
"Really," she said, "How interesting.
"Yeah," Felicia said, "Since Margaret got to make Jessica into a vampire, I wanted to be able to turn someone as well. But, it has to be someone special. We decided to look for someone who is musically talented, and someone who we thought would fit in with our family. And, that's when we met you. So, what do you think? Would you like to join us? You would have to move in with us."
"Wow," said Elizabeth, "That's a lot to take in. You're a vampire and a werewolf. This is incredible. Yes, I would like to join you. But, is it really safe?"
"Yes," said Felicia, "We promise, one quick bite and you will become a werewolf. Then, we can start the band."
"Wow," said Elizabeth, "Okay, I will do it."
"Great," said Felicia as she began to transform.
Her body became covered with hair and her hands turned into paws.
She was a wolf.
Elizabeth screamed.
"Hey," said Felicia, "It's okay. There's no need to be scared."
"Sorry," she said, "but, it was a little scary. You did that really fast."
"Don't worry," I said, "you will get used to it. Now, are you ready to become a werewolf?"
"Yes," she said, "I am."
"Okay," said Felicia, "Now, this may hurt a bit. But, you have to stay still. And, remember, don't scream. This may draw attention from others."
"Okay," she said, "I'm ready.
"Okay," said Felicia, "Now, let's do this.
Felicia opened her mouth and bit Elizabeth's shoulder.
Elizabeth screamed.
"Ahhh," she cried, "That hurts!"
"I'm sorry," said Felicia, "I told you, it may hurt. But, don't worry, you will be okay."
Felicia kept biting.
Elizabeth stopped screaming and started moaning.
"Oh," she moaned, "That feels so good."
"Yes," said Felicia, "This part always hurts. But, then, it starts to feel good. Just relax and enjoy it."
"Okay," said Elizabeth, "I will."
Felicia continued to bite.
Elizabeth's moans grew louder and louder.
"Oh," she moaned, "This feels so good.
After a few more minutes, Felicia stopped biting.
"That's enough," she said, "You are a werewolf now."
"Wow," said Elizabeth, "That was amazing."
"See," said Felicia, "wasn't too bad."
"Yeah," she said, "I guess not."
"So," I said, "are you ready to start practicing?"
"Yes," she said, "But first go home and pack your stuff. Then, come back here. We will be waiting for you."
"Alright," she said, "Thanks again. I can't wait."
She left the room.
"Well," I said, "she's not the only one. Come on, let's go practice."
We went to the stage.
"Alright," I said, "Are you ready to play some music?"
"Yes," they all said.
"Alright," I said, "Let's do it."
We began to practice.
"Wow," said Felicia, "this is really fun."
"Yeah," said Elizabeth, "This is great."
"Thanks," I said, "Come on, let's get started.
We began to play the music."
As we played, I couldn't help but think about my old family.
How things had changed.
But, in a way, they were better.
We are all so happy and close.
It was the best life I could have ever imagined.
In the morning, we took Elizabeth to the inn where we lived.
"Welcome," I said, "to our home for now."
"Thank you," she said, "This is wonderful."
"I'm glad you like it," I said, "Come on, let's get your things inside."
"Sure," she said, "That would be great."
"So," I said, "Where's all of your stuff?"
"Oh," she said, "I travel light. I never stay anywhere for too long. This is the longest I have been anywhere in a while."
"I see," I said, "Well, this coffin is where we all sleep. I hope you don't mind sharing. We can always build another one."
"No," she said, "it's perfect."
"Great," I said, "Let's get some sleep."
We all climbed into the coffin and closed the lid.
It was nice having a full house again.
I locked the coffin lid, and I gave Elizabeth a quick kiss.
"Goodnight," I said, "Sweet dreams."
"Goodnight," she said, "I'm looking forward to getting to know you better."
"Me too," I said, "Now, go to sleep."
I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
We were the three musketeers, now we were the four horsewomen.
The bloody fang.
I smiled as I thought about how lucky I was.
I had a new family and a new life.
Nothing could stop us.
