The Piers' ancestral home was situated halfway up the mountain in Gills City, barely ten kilometers from the downtown area, yet it spanned over a hundred acres of land, exuding a sense of ancient charm.
The car drove into the large estate, and only after ten minutes did it reach the garage.
Abigail followed Brandon Piers out. The house was already brightly lit.
The main house was a three-story building with wooden eaves. Unlike modern architecture, it resembled an ancient house in a scenic area, but the Piers' ancestral home was more flawlessly restored and bustling with life.
Abigail followed Brandon Piers along a path paved with bluestone bricks, through an arched gate. The banana trees on either side had just sprouted new shoots, and forsythia bloomed everywhere, emitting a delicate fragrance.
As they approached the main house, Abigail heard the guests' laughter.
"I'm going to change my clothes. The Greens should be inside, Miss Green, make yourself at home." Brandon Piers said, elegantly entered a side door, and went upstairs, avoiding the guests.
Abigail watched the man's departing back, adjusted the brim of her hat, and was worried about how to enter when she saw Rose Taylor step out with a phone in her hand. "What? Out and not back yet? Fat bitch, just had a baby and still can't settle down. Wait till I get back and deal with her!"
"Aunt Rose, how do you plan to deal with me?"
"Ah!" Hearing the term "fat bitch," Abigail knew Rose Taylor was talking about her. Standing quietly behind her, Abigail suddenly spoke.
Rose Taylor was so startled she cried out, turned her head to see it was Abigail, and instinctively raised her hand, "Fat bitch, you trying to scare me to death?"
Abigail slightly sidestepped to avoid Rose Taylor's slap, "Auntie, people are watching."
She glanced at the scene in the hall.
Only then did Rose Taylor realize where she was and immediately questioned, "What are you doing here?"
"Young Master Piers brought me here." Abigail said as she started walking towards the hall.
Rose Taylor grabbed Abigail's arm, "Fat bitch, what are you up to?"
"Aunt Rose, I just want to see the baby I carried for nine months and gave birth to..."
"Shut up!" Rose Taylor interrupted Abigail hastily, glancing around warily. "Cheap bitch, that's Ruby's child. Say that again, and I swear I'll tear your mouth apart."
"Then take me inside. Otherwise... to see the child, I don't know if I can control myself." Abigail's voice was soft, but her eyes were cold and resolute.
The unexpected pressure shocked Rose Taylor. She wanted to refuse but feared Abigail might actually do something, so she gritted her teeth. "Go in, but don't say anything stupid. If you embarrass yourself, your father won't spare you."
"Mm." Given permission, Abigail meekly agreed, her earlier aura completely vanished.
The living room was spacious, with many guests, and no one noticed an uninvited guest, particularly someone like Abigail who was easily mistaken for an ignorant servant.
Ruby Green, meticulously dressed up, was the first to spot Abigail and immediately changed her expression. "Mom, why did you bring her in?"
"I..."
"Sir, the young master is awake." Just as Rose Taylor was about to explain, the old butler suddenly stepped forward and reported to an elderly man with white hair and beard, a kindly face, and dressed in a blue traditional suit in the Piers' main hall.
Today was ostensibly to celebrate Elder Piers' birthday, but in truth, it was to flaunt his great-grandson to all friends and relatives.
"Mm, bring him down." Elder Piers waved his hand happily, then thought for a moment. "Where's Brandon?"
"The second young master will be here soon."
"That brat, making the guests wait for him." Elder Piers scolded, but his eyes showed no anger. Clearly, he doted on his grandson.
As they spoke, the baby had already been carried downstairs by the nanny.
Abigail's hand tightened involuntarily, her body instinctively turning towards the baby.
That unfamiliar longing did not come from her rational mind, but it was overwhelmingly uncontrollable.
