The rough, vein-covered hand raised the iron rod and struck the back of Abigail's head with full force. One could imagine that if the blow didn't kill her, it would leave her paralyzed.
Seeing this, Ruby on the ground relaxed her frightened face and showed Abigail a strange smile.
Abigail frowned.
Bang!
A dull thud followed by pain.
Indescribable pain. Ruby hugged her already broken leg, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face, her eyes full of disbelief. Pointing at the gardener Johnson, she shouted, "You idiot, Harrison!"
Clang!
The iron rod fell to the ground again with a clang amid Ruby's curses. Johnson scrambled to Ruby in a panic, "Miss, Miss, are you okay?"
Abigail looked at the iron rod that had fallen by her hand. She picked it up and barely managed to stand. Just a moment ago, when Ruby smiled, she quickly squatted down, avoiding the gardener's blow.
