Chapter 6 - Somatic cloning

While Molly walked home from Douglas's lab, she had a whole lot situated in her mind. Feelings of emotions, sadness, fear and optimism. Encompassed her mind. She thought of making mistakes in the cloning project which can cost lives, failure, leaving the family in search of Picasso, and quitting her job. She is lost in experience of mixed feelings considering family and social factors that can be affected.

"I will take up my college research on cloning" she concluded

During her research in school, she chose to carry out a research on human cloning with animals for military advantage. She explored the relevance of her research to the benefits of copying the strength, speed, agility, and strong perseverance of animals to elevate the unique qualities of soldiers during war.

The somatic infusion of animal genes into humans is intended to transform and improve the physical and physiological qualities and performance of soldiers at war.

Molly's cloning approach took another dimension to tackle the challenge of reproductive implantation and time. The assessed the pitfalls of several cloning approaches such as reproductive and therapeutic. Through proper analysis she devised a means to overcome such lapses which makes her research unique. She devised her means by collecting the somatic cells of different in one specimen tube. Animals she used includes: tamed lion for its perseverance and fierceness, tamed tiger for its strength, hare for its fastness and speed, dog for it's sense of smell and also squirrel for its agility.

Prominent cloning experts will fertilize eggs and semen of the cloning subjects and await its maturity after so many years before it is being utilized; but through her research she devised a means to avoid that by hypothetically proposing to inject human with animal somatic cells.

Somatic cells are all other cells in the body make up except the egg and sperm cells. They contain fourth six individual chromosomes, organized into twenty-three pairs of chromosomes. There are about two hundred and twenty types of the somatic cells in the body. Often, they are used they are used in the body to refer to the cells of the body in contrast to the reproductive cells. Molly used them extensively to bridge the gap between timely utilization of clones and successful cloning. She proposes that the easiest way to clone is to extract the somatic fluids of the particular sites of interest and inject it into humans or the subjects to be cloned. Particularly to this research, she used the somatic fluids of lion's heart and brain, tiger's muscles, hare's brain and bones and the squirrel's brain and eyes. The only challenge she has is unavailability of humans to test the hypothesis on.

As she wandered in her thoughts; suddenly; she realized she has walked a far distance then she decided to continue with a bus. She trekked a bit to the next bus stop -Jolly bus stop- at Mamieu-Cara street. Interestingly, she is always fund of this bus stop because of the big laughing face placed on the roof of the bus stop with be happy inscribed underneath its jaw. Each time she steps into the bus stop, she looks up and put up a bold smile too.

Some passengers alighted from the bus standing in front of the bus stop and she entered. When she entered she noticed some familiar faces at the end of the bus giggling at her. From the look on their faces she understood they were taking their time to level insults at her. With this, she didn't border sitting at the end as usual. She gently took off he back bag and sat on the extreme seat on the fifth roll of the bus.

Looking out through the window while in a bus is what she indulges in always. She picks inspirations from people who are consciously going about their daily activities. As the bus moved, she caught sight of two ladies discussing, laughing and walking freely on the pedestrian avenue. One is taller, bigger and more beautiful than the other. At the same time, she remembered Margie and smiled.

Margie is one of the persons she can't trade for anything in her life. Margie is a twenty-eight years old lady and married for two years. At times, Molly would wonder why she has always stooped so low to her level. Fortunately, she is the only one that understands and defends her whenever things go wrong. Overtime, Margie turned out to be her only source of consolation, motivation, advise and any support she needed. Her sense of humor makes her stand out amongst all.

They were only teenagers in high school when they met. Everyone despised her but Margie didn't and that kept their friendship till date. Still in the bus Molly recalled to their first meeting. On that day, Molly lost her transport fare back home from school. She did all she could to convince someone to pay for her transport but all to no avail.

"You mean. You used it for chops?" one of them mocked her

As the time was getting late she decided to enter one of the buses and pled with the driver to pardon her when she gets to her destination. Unfortunately, the driver turned out to be the same with the all others that refused her plead. Then Margie emerged.

"It's ok sir, stop treating her like that" she quarreled

"Will you pay?" the driver asked meanly

"Yes I will" she answered as she brought out the money and gave to him. Molly didn't stop thanking her for that kind gesture.

"I'm Margie" she introduced herself.

"It's my pleasure to meet you Margie, I am Molly" Molly replied while managing to smile

"Mm mm, the Ms…" Margie said and they laughed. Molly quickly jumped down from the bus as it started moving and waved at Margie.

"Come to sixth grade, class C during lunch break tomorrow" Margie shouted from the window "Ok" she replied "Byeee" Margie said and sat back in her seat.

Ever since then, she has been her life saver. Despite their age disparities, they are still best friends.

"Hmmm" Molly breathed out as she realized the bus has gotten to her stop site. She paid the driver, alighted from the bus and headed home. While she walked, she brought out her phone from her trousers' pocket and began to type.

"You are still the best no matter what, thanks for being there even when I lest except you to be. B-Mol will always remain grateful for all you do for her. Thanks for everything Margie" she texted.

She pushed her phone back into the pocket as she tried to open the door.
