Chapter 42 - The Ancient Tower!

There was a weird silence after Buvaton's death. Though he was an ugly looking enemy, sympathy was felt by each of us.

"So, let's just forget about dying here in the future. We need to reach that tower." Oliver pointed at the structure which was now a little clearer. We agreed and jumped back on the two hermits.

"Wanna race?" Lily looked at me, assuming I would surely say yes. But after the adventures we had been through, none of us wanted a race. So obviously, Lily took it as a yes and said, "Okay. It's on. We'll meet you there. Bye slowpokes!" She said. I think slowpoke in Earth is a Pokémon, isn't it? I heard it from somewhere I don't remember.

The hermit ran at top speed. The greenery wiped behind as we rushed forward. Sounge was right beside us so even if it was a race, we would need a tie-breaker to settle things. The tower came closer every second and before we knew it, it was right in front of us.

The tower was huge, at least 50 floors big in height. We roamed around the tower, looking for an entrance but in vain. There was no entrance! First of all, we didn't know why the tower was built. We just needed it as a high point to look for where to go next. But a tower without an entrance was pretty strange. How were we supposed to climb the thing?

Then out of the blue, from above, a platform glided down, making its way towards us. It was a big white platform which surrounded the whole shape of the tower. Was it supposed to work like this since beginning? Or was it a living, creepy tower?

"Well, there is only one way to reach up there and that's by this platform. So climb up guys." Lily said. She walked onto the platform which had just touched the ground. Hesitantly, the rest of us stepped on it as well. It was weird to find this kind of mechanism. I had a lot of questions rising in my mind.

But the platform did not rise, stopping its progress just as we climbed on it. "Password.", said the platform. It was a little alarming to find a white platform talk. Now if it required a password, we were surely not going up there. How in the world were we supposed to know the password? Just then, Rock Flames announced, "Hail King Jalaar!!" The platform immediately stared rising. The platform immediately started rising, taking us above the ground. We stared at Rock Flames in shock. "How do you know that?" Oliver enquired. "I just… nevermind." Rock Flames replied which wasn't a very satisfying answer. Rock Flames was a bit creepy at times. He knew so much about the past which made me sick.

We looked at our surroundings which were extending as we made our way up. It took us two minutes to reach the top of the enormous tower. We got inside quickly. The space in between where we stood didn't have much interesting stuff.

It was just a place to stand. But as we talked, I looked in front of us. There was a huge cannon, facing outside, almost as if it was protecting the abandoned palace. There was sure to be a tower in each direction.

"Is this tower here since King Jalaar's era?!" Oliver exclaimed. Rock Flames replied, "Maybe it was used as a defense fort, to keep enemies like us, out of this area."

"Well, we are finding a lot of ancient stuff here." I said. "But let's do our job now, for what we came here for." Saying so, Oliver looked around. The tower was fully open and the surroundings were visible. Only the ground on which we were standing prevented us from dying.

The surroundings were beautiful. There was a river very close to us which we needed to cross. We could even see a town in a distance. The town didn't seem to be as big as Hilton Town but we decided to go there. "That town is our next destination. I think we only need one more member then we can take on Raptor." Rock Flames decided.

We didn't notice it during our adventures but it was midnight by then. The platform was up again and we climbed on it. It took us down to the awaiting hermits. Climbing on their backs, we left for the town.
