I was about to speak up when a small kid came running towards us. "Big brother! Father is again breaking your machine!" The kid yelled. The kid would be about 5 years old or something, his voice was girlish and he wore a normal shirt and shorts.
The moment Xavier heard the yelling of his brother, he left us there, confused and rushed off somewhere. We ran behind and tried to follow him. Lily was the fastest out of all of us. Oliver and I were of the same speed. But Rock Flames was having real difficulty. He stopped running and panted heavily. "You guys carry on. I'll meet you soon." He said, almost dying.
We moved on behind Xavier. He sure was a good runner. We reached a small palace, not the most beautiful one. Beside it was a big garage, almost as big as the palace itself. Xavier rushed inside where a man was making a mess. As Xavier's brother had told, he was Xavier's father.
He took random parts and tools and threw them here and there, breaking them. The parts being thrown were used to make some kind of machine. In the middle of the room was the main structure. It almost looked like a space ship if it hadn't been half destroyed. I didn't know why his mad father was destroying Xavier's masterpiece but I felt like to punch him on the face. What kind of a father was he?
Once satisfied, his father turned to Xavier. He looked raged. "Next time, I will break you with these machines of yours if I find them." He roared and rushed off. He did not pay much attention to us.
Xavier went up to his now half broken machine and fell on his knees. His dream was shattered by his own father. All of us felt bad for him. "What was that all about?" Lily took courage and asked.
Xavier got up and turned to us. Tears were visible in his eyes, making them heavy but he tried hard not to break down. "I… I am good at making machines with zartinum." Xavier said. Zartinum is kind of like electricity you use in Earth. But it is more in fluid form and has a lot of power contained in it.
"My father wants me to stop these things, the things which make me happy. He even wants me to stop fighting as a warrior and become a servant like him." Xavier explained. "My father is a servant of this town's mayor. He has an old-fashioned thinking that these things will never take me to success. I always try to make the machine of my life and half way, my father breaks it."
I was relieved to have a good father. "What is the machine of your life which you want to make?" I asked. That cheered Xavier up a bit. A small smile crept up his face. "I want to make a warship. I know how to, but cannot because of my father." He admitted.
"You deserve better treatment considering your skills and fighting powers." Oliver concluded. Looking away from us, Xavier declared, "About the quest… I have duties to do. I cannot let my small brother turn out like my dad as well. I will keep him safe and do my duties, here in this town. I cannot join you."
