UNEXPECTED STRANGER (3)
Syton was the one leading the conversation between the three of them when he suddenly stopped. Blaze and Kerin looked at him confusingly. Syton's face also seemed to become more serious, as he even stood up and draws out his sword.
"Someone's coming here with Stalane" Syton informed the two.
"Huh? What do you mean by that? Is there someone who's supposedly to join you guys here?" Kerin asked.
Syton shook his head. He then proceeds to tell them three possibilities of what's going on.
"As far as I know, there should be none. So this person could only be a.) a stranger that Stalane decided to bring in with her., b.) someone strong enough to threaten her to let her lead him where we are., c.) its a friend of hers that she have no choice but to let him join us. The first possibility is highly impossible considering a personality like hers. If its the second one, then we are in a big trouble. I am not quite sure with the last possibility though. Does she even have any friends, besides us? I don't see her being friendly with anyone?" He said as he thinks deeply if Stalane have any other friends.
"If she's bringing in someone, is that a bad thing?" Blaze asked worriedly as he stares at Syton's hand that is gripping his sword.
"No, but I don't think it's a bad idea to be alert. This guy with Stalane is good with hiding his presence and I could particularly say that he is experienced in battles. Besides, I have a bad feeling about this guy" Syton said in a serious tone.
That is also when Kerin realized the trail of water that was under Syton's feet, crawling on the ground to the direction where Stalane went earlier.
----
Kaleigh can't help but to give a small grin.
"He's still as sharp as ever" he whispered as if he was proud to what he was seeing.
Although Kaleigh said it in a low voice, Stalane have a sharp hearing. But she was unsure of what the context of his words were. Thus she asked : "Did you say something?"
"It's nothing. I just thought that Syton is really protective towards you." He said as he looked down below their feet.
Stalane noticed the water that was on the ground. She then figured what Kaleigh means. This water that was following them seems to be Syton's doing.
"You should really introduce me very well, or I might never see the light ever again" Kaleigh reminded her while looking straight forward.
Stalane did the same and her enhanced eyesight caught Syton preparing to launch an attack on Kaleigh.
"Go ahead first, I'll show up after you. Please, make sure that Syton will calm down"
Stalane thought that something was really wrong for him to act like this just for Syton.
"Can't you just block his attack if he really did strike you?" Stalane can't help but to question him.
Kaleigh looked at the other way as he let a nervous laugh. "There's no way I would try to fight against him"
Stalane furrowed her brows as she was getting more confused.
"Are you scared of him?" Stalane asked but with a tinge of irritation.
If Kaleigh said yes then that could only be an insult to her. Kaleigh easily defeated her and she wouldn't believe that a strong man like him would be afraid to someone like Syton.
Kaleigh sighed. "That's not it. Just go and talk to him first." He tap her back as if pushing her forward.
Stalane rolled her eyes as she walked forward where Syton and the others were.
Just like what Stalane saw from afar earlier. Syton was really indeed in a position where he was ready to attack.
Syton's movement was really fast that his attack almost hit Stalane. His sword was only an inch away from her neck, but Stalane just stood there still.
"Stalane?" Syton called out her name while his sword is still beside her neck.
When he realized that it was really her, Syton immediately drew back his sword. He blinked before looking around. When he saw no one else was there, he worriedly looked at her.
"Why did you not avoid my sword? It almost hits you!" Syton scolded her.
Stalane just raised her eyebrows, "What are you even trying to do?"
That is when Syton seriously stood up and looked at the person behind Stalane who was now slowly walking towards them.
Stalane noticed where Syton was looking. So she looked back.
"Oh right, Syton this is---- huh?" Stalane was about to introduce Kaleigh to Syton when she noticed the shock that was carved on his face.
When Syton was just following them by his water, which takes a lot of mana, he only knew that Stalane was with another person and he had a bad feeling about the guy. He couldn't hear their conversation so he have no means of identifying who the person was. The only significance of the water that was following Stalane was that it'll inform him if she was in some kind of danger and it'll tell him where her location was.
It could also somehow sense the presence of the person that was near her. That was how he was sure earlier that the person with Stalane is good in fighting and good with hiding because of his aura, it is because Syton could only feel a vague presence but he was sure that someone was with her with his instinct telling him so.
The trail of water was part of the second form of his path of the sword.
Syton thought that if he ever saw this person, he would definitely hate the guy. But he doesn't know why he reacted differently.
"Do you know him?" Stalane asked.
Syton shook his head in a daze as an answer.
Syton was sure that he have never seen the guy before. But somehow, he seems familiar to him.
It's not that the dislike that he felt since earlier just disappeared, but how should he try to explain this feeling? It's as if he does not like the guy but he also gives a vibe that he'll be a person he'll like to hang out.
