Chapter 35 - Facing the Bandits

FACING THE BANDITS

The three Bravers namely : Syton, Stalane and Crane, started to search for a shelter that they could rest for the night.

According to Crane, they're most likely to be already at the border of Oserie, but it is still far away from the main town.

They actually traveled quite faster rather than when Syton and Stalane were alone going deep inside where the Tree of a Realm was. It was also because Syton and Stalane were only traveling by foot. With that being said, both of them were still quicker than any Bravers that only traveled by foot, and it was all because they were running instead of walking. But now, they were more faster with the help of Crane's waypoint.

Before Crane meets up with Syton and Stalane at the entrance of the Tree of a Realm, he sets up his own portable waypoint so they could just teleport there.

Of course, the waypoint also have a distance limit that's why they just can't directly teleport to the main town. They have to teleport from one waypoint to the nearest waypoint he have set up before they could teleport to the another waypoint.

Of course, Crane have only a limited waypoints on his hand so he used these waypoint carefully.

"There's a near small village around here. Let's stay there for a while" Crane suggested after he picked up the waypoint device and stored it back to his inventory.

"That thing is really handy, huh? You can put it anywhere then you could just teleport on it as long as you set up a connected waypoint, but the connected waypoint must be within the scope of the distance that the waypoint could reach." Syton can't help but be amazed.

Crane agreed, "For a rank C card, it is indeed worth it to buy for. The only disadvantage of this portable waypoint card is just like the other ordinary cards it has a limited times of use. It is also quite rare to obtain since its drop rate is considerably low and if you want to buy it, it cost a lot of gou."

Syton coughed at what he have heard, then he glimpsed at Stalane. She doesn't know why he turned his head to look at her, and all she could do was tilt her head.

"Anyway, the next waypoint I've set is quite far from here so I suggest that we rest for the night then continue on tomorrow" Crane said.

Syton nodded. On the other hand, Stalane proceeded to scout the area by using her enhanced eyesight.

A specific scene caught her eye.

"It seems that the village you are talking about is being raided by a group of people" Stalane informed them.

"Raided? Are you perhaps mistaken?"

Stalane shook her head to Crane's question.

"They're a group of 5 people and I'm sure that they're beating up the people on the village. They look like a gang to be honest" Stalane described what she saw.

"A gang, you say? Then they must've been the infamous bandits" Crane said in a low voice.

"Bandits? That's a great news! Come on, let's beat them up!" Syton said enthusiastically after he heard what Crane and Stalane said. He even punched his palm as if he was really ready to fight them.

Crane scratched his cheek in reluctance. "Do we have to? Let's just avoid them"

Stalane agreed with Crane. "It's too bothersome" she said.

Syton look at both of them in disbelief.

"I can understand why Crane is hesitant, but Stalane we need to do this!"

Crane gave a forced laugh. He doesn't know if he's being insulted by Syton right now or what.

Stalane raised her left eyebrow. "We are not part of a justice group or whatever ,Syton. What do you mean we have to?"

Syton sighed then carefully explained the situation to Stalane.

"Don't you realize that they are a bandits---"

Stalane cuts him off by asking, "And so?"

"Obviously, they should have some money! They have gou, Stalane! This is an easy way to make money for the holy water that we must buy from a priest! This is an opportunity we must not let to get away!"

That is when everything finally sinks in to Stalane. With Syton's reasoning, Stalane's eyes lit with the determination to fight.

Crane felt out of place and he could also feel that something bad will happen.

"Are you gonna rob them?" Crane can't help but to confirm his hunch.

Syton smiled. "Of course! Are you gonna join us?"

Crane immediately shook his head. "No, I'm good"

"Why not? You don't have to feel guilty for them, Crane. They're the first one who robs others, right? Just think of this as if we are their karma" Syton said as he winked at Crane.

But Crane stood up on his decision. Although he was worried about another thing. "Besides, how are you gonna defeat them? They're a higher rank than the both of you and they obviously out-numbered you?"

Syton just gave him a reassuring grin before he patted Stalane's shoulder.

"This lady could defeat a hundreds of them"

Crane looked at Stalane with a doubtful eyes. She could do that?

Stalane removed Syton's hand from her shoulder. "You're exaggerating"

Syton let out a small laugh before he shrugged, "Anyway if you're not gonna do it with us, then just watch how powerful Stalane is"

With Syton vouching for Stalane, Crane was also now anticipating how they'll face those bandits.

"Do your best. He's gonna watch you" Syton whispered at Stalane that was on his side.

Stalane pinched his cheek which made him winced in pain. "Hey!" Syton complained.

"Just shut up" Stalane said.

---

"Boss, Every house have already been looted" A man came to inform their leader.

The boss nodded, satisfied with the results.

"Then, let us go" The boss said. The underling followed his order.

When the group was about to leave the village, a young man with a grin on his face was casually walking towards them.

The boss halted his comrades by raising his hand.

"What are you doing here, boy?" The boss ask with the intention of scaring the young man.

The young man didn't dodged his question by giving him a warning. "It's better if you guys won't resist and just give us what you have"

The gang laughed at the young man's words.

The young man gave a small sigh.

In just a split of seconds, the young man disappeared from their sight. The boss and the other bandits searched where the man go. They found him where the hostages were and it looked like he was letting all of them free.

"What are you doing?!" One bandit shouted then attempted to attack him. The others followed.

On the other hand, Crane was getting anxious watching Syton face the bandits alone. He was hiding near where Syton was. Although Crane did said that he won't join them, he was still willing to help them if things get out of hand.

"Relax. Syton can handle this simple task" Stalane reassured Crane before she brought out her weapon from her inventory.

Crane turned to look at Stalane. She saw how worried he was, so she just said : "Watch".

Crane looked at the direction where Syton was. Just like what Stalane said, there was nothing to get worried for.

Syton quickly pushed away the four bandits that was coming on his way with his slash. The slash comes with some water on it. Stalane, who was also observing him, guessed that the slash that Syton did was another experimented alteration of his first form of his Path of the Sword.

When Stalane saw how Syton finished his job taking the hostages to safety, she started to stretched the strings of her bow as she aimed it towards the direction of the bandits.

"It's your turn, Stalane! Quickly, finish this! I want to eat some dinner already!" Syton said through telepathy as he puts his right hand on his waist. He was just casually watching the bandits struggle from standing due to his attack.

The boss of the gang was infuriated by Syton's action. He brought out his weapon and was ready to attack Syton, when multiple arrows started to rain from the sky. The arrows perfectly pierced through all the bandits. The arrows were infused with a paralyzed skill.

Without wasting any seconds, Syton hits all of them on the back of their neck, causing them to fall asleep.
