I felt fingers touching the side of my arm and shivers running up the length of it. Max's skin against mine jolted me out of my trance.
"Don't touch me!" I jerked away from him and my brain registered his proximity. I stumbled backward and my back hit the closed apartment door.
He stood frozen, now a few steps away, although I might have seen a muscle twitch around his right eye.
"I just want to talk, Sky," his blue eyes looked at me intently. A small frown could be seen forming underneath the strands of hair on his forehead.
"I don't want to talk to you," I snapped and turned back around. Picking the keys from the floor, I began to jam them in the lock.
My breaths turned ragged and I felt Max's eyes burning a hole at the back of my head while I struggled with opening the lock.
