When I woke up the next day, I was well-rested. The thoughts about yesterday's chaos were lurking at the back of my mind but I didn't let them slip in just yet.
I had to make a plan for whatever was coming next and I couldn't do that with the events from the day before overwhelming me.
I didn't find Maddy laying next to me when I opened my eyes. I reached out for my phone which was on the nightstand, charging (thanks to Maddy), and checked out the time.
It was already 8! Shoot. I had to be at work by 9.
I stumbled out of bed and felt a sudden headrush. I stood still while I waited for the dizziness to wear off when I felt the wall of my stomach turning in on itself.
A groan erupted from it.
I was hungry. Obviously.
Without further ado, I rushed into the bathroom and removed my clothes from yesterday. I threw the coffee-stained white shirt into the laundry basket and stepped into the shower.
