The red potion inside the tube glass was something that was out of this world. His hands trembled by the thing he only saw in a laboratory. Where did this potion come from, he had no idea but there he felt excitement. The excitement of the unknown.
He pulled out the cork with a resounding pop before the scent of the potion lingered in his nostrils. The vibrant smell of unknown herbs danced around the prefix. There was something fantasy-like as he breathed in.
"Here goes nothing!" shouted Ruan as he steeled his heart and drank the entire tube glass with one gulp.
*thump
He felt his heart thumping as his blood circulation flowed like a string of complicated web. The stinging pain in his body gradually recovered before the bruise under his bandage turned vague. It was a phenomenon that would make doctors around the world scratching each other's heads.
He slowly stood up before opening and closing his palm. He lightly jumped as he felt rejuvenation like never before. He finally smiled and grinned as he slowly realized the uncertainty, the infinite possibilities, and how the world around him would change because of this.
"Yeah!" shouted Ruan as it reverberated outside the villa and into the forest.
"Hmm?" Ruan's grandfather who was carrying a dead boar on his shoulder turned around and took a glance at the direction where the voice came from. He smiled before he laughed heartily, scaring away all the animals in the vicinity.
Ruan took off his bandages and saw the bruises were gone, though the scar of the wound was still there it has fully dried up.
"So, I have another health potion left. Damn, then I need to know about the next quest," contemplated Ruan before he reached out for the phone.
He looked at the quest menu but there was nothing there but the earlier completed quest. There was no new quest being added.
"Hmm, how do I trigger this,"
He furrowed his eyebrows but nothing came to mind, he took a glance at the glass tube he just drank but it was nowhere to be seen. He didn't manage to see how it vanished and he didn't manage to see any of the traces left, not even the cork.
"Fine then, let's see how this goes."
The dusk finally sets in as Ruan's grandfather returned to the villa with three boars tied on a rope. Just as he opened the door, his grin turned wider as he saw his grandson standing straight just like him with a crossed arm. He could see the spark, the fire behind those youthful eyes. Whatever item he passed on must have worked remarkably.
"You've changed, Ruan," grinned Ruan's grandfather.
"En," nodded Ruan as he grinned back.
"Now that's the smile I want to see, no more mask! Your true feeling, let it out! Show it to the world, Show them what 'Tey' is capable of! Hide them when you think it's necessary but NEVER lose yourself!" shouted his grandfather before he put the three boars into the kitchen.
*ding
Ruan furrowed his eyebrows before he opened up his phone. There was no message from his friends nor a message from the system, but he sure felt the vibration. He raised his eyebrows in relaxation before he took out the smartphone with trembling excitement.
There was a notification, a new quest was available. He immediately tapped on it before the screen changed to the quest menu.
'Rank F quest: Help grandfather cooks the boar.'
'Reward: 5 LP'
"No way, it's a reality-related quest? Will that even work? How can it know what I did?" muttered Ruan as he walked inside the kitchen and pick up a butcher knife.
The duo managed to cook the entire three boars without the addition of help from anyone else by seven o'clock in the evening. The food was served in the living room on top of the table as they once again sat across each other. The soup, the salted meat, the roasted meat, the fried meat, and a few vegetables here and there were present and fishing the drool of anyone who was near.
*ding
Ruan got another notification from the special smartphone as he held it in his hand. One of his eyebrows raised in curiosity as he tapped it.
'Quest Completed: Cooking with grandfather, rewards: 5 LP'
(What the hell, that's amazing!) thought Ruan as he smiled watching his phone.
"Hmm? What are you smiling about watching your phone, is there a naked picture of young girls your friend sent you? Hahaha, I want to see!" said Ruan's grandfather with his loud voice. The confidence and shamelessness of this man knew no bounds.
"C'mon grandpa, you know I would show it to you if I got one hahaha!"
The two of them laughed like a pair of idiots before the night settled in.
He looked at his phone in his room before he plugged in the type-C USB and charged it with the nearby available socket before he pulled out the black smartphone from his pocket. He furrowed his eyebrows as he noticed there was no audio jack, not a volume button in sight hell, not even a power button was there, let alone the charging port.
"Hmm, there is not even a battery bar on the screen either. Is this being charged by the sun?" thought Ruan before he shook his head. There was no way it was being powered by the sun since his grandfather stored it in the black box inside of a pond and he could use it right after.
He laid on his bed as he watched his reflection on the screen with a sigh followed by a smile right after. He put the phone on his chest as he couldn't wait to finally live the life of tomorrow.
*croak
Ruan immediately opened his eyes as he heard the sound before he noticed his grandfather was singing against his dream. He put on a pillow on top of his face before he went back to sleep.
