Chapter 15 - Good Advice, Tremendous Quest

Ruan glanced at the invitation card in his hand. It had a mini caricature of a male and a female holding hands and pointed at the night sky. Only an idiot wouldn't know what the invitation card was.

Svie suddenly walked up to his son with crossed arms before her face turned sour. She put her hand on top of his head and rustled his hair.

"It's her loss, to pick the others rather than you."

Ruan stayed silent as he put away her invitation card. He looked at his mother's sour face with a smile before he nodded, "Yes mom, it's her loss."

He took a side step before he left in a hurry. His feet felt so heavy every time he lifted them up, but it was nothing to what he was feeling right now.

"Ruan."

Ruan halted his way upstairs before he peeked downstairs and saw his father approaching him with his favorite wheelchair.

"There is plenty of fish in the sea," said Suan Tey.

It was an old proverb that was told to many youngsters, especially young men. Though it did nothing to one's heartbreak, it did give them another point of view of the world.

Ruan nodded and smiled, "Yes dad, I know."

"HOWEVER..."

Suan Tey crossed his arms with a wide grin that rivaled his father, "Only the fisherman that fish, may get the fish."

The words echoed in his mind as his eyes opened wide. Of course, it was true. The fish may be plenty in the sea, but you won't get anything by watching it swim. They needed to be lured, they needed to be baited. There are all sorts of different techniques that one could conjure, but if one does nothing, then nothing is gained.

Ruan Tey nodded twice before he rushed upstairs.

Suan nodded before he felt a dreadful aura behind him. His body slightly shook as he doubtfully turned his head around, "Honey?"

"Don't honey me!"

Svie threw her face away with crossed arms, "You think I don't know how lavish you are when you were young? When you still can walk??"

Suan Tey hugged her waist as he whispered, "But only you stayed with me in the end, right? My own bully."

Svie pouted with a blushing face, neither denying nor admitting.

Ruan's special phone got a notification of a new quest to complete. He opened up the quest tab before his eyes opened wide.

Reward: 8 Million Life Points!!

He gulped at the reward that almost rivaled his toughest quest yet. His thumb shook as he scrolled up.

Rank: SSSS

Quest: Find out your father, Suan Tey's real identity.

He casually threw the phone on top of his bed as he put his hands on his waist. He looked at the mirror of himself as he shook his head. He couldn't express himself properly as disbelief was the only thing he knew.

(What the hell, even my father has a real identity?) thought Ruan as he pinched his glabella. There was something big going on behind the scene right under his nose. However, he knew nothing of it. Everything was normal for him, just like any normal family would.

(What secret do they hold that the phone actually measures it as an SSSS rank quest?) thought Ruan as he sat down.

(Was there something sinister? Or maybe something dangerous for the city? Or maybe the country) thought Ruan as he bit his thumbnail.

He took a deep inhale before letting it out slowly. He became agitated with his own overthinking, there must be something grand that they hid from him. With the hospital cost being neglected as if it was nothing also there was no more news covering him on the television. It was like they swept the dust under the carpet. Not to mention the car he was riding home, the car that he had never seen before inside the villa of his grandfather's.

"Hah! There are so many things going on, on and off the screen. Furthermore, that's all the quest I have so far."

He swallowed his saliva as his eyes turned half-opened (There is no quest regarding Sarah huh?).

He rustled his own hair, "There is no use, I'm stumped."

He reached out his bag and wallet before going downstairs. "Dad, mom, I'm going to the convenience store, you need anything?"

"Ah, can you buy me an ice cream?" asked Suan Tey to Ruan's disbelief.

"Seriously again? Didn't you just buy one this morning?," muttered Svie who was cutting vegetables on the back.

"Uh..." Ruan was confused as to what to say before he saw his father slightly shaking his head.

"Yeah, it's quite hot today," said Suan as he winked at his son.

"Alright then, I'm going!" said Ruan as he hurriedly left the house.

He let out a sigh as he walked down the road. (That dad of mine, he sure loves alcohol, but it's weird that I never saw him get drunk).

Suan would always trick his wife to buy alcohol or any bottle in the liquid store with the pretext of buying ice cream. Though it would less work and gained suspicion over time instead, it's been going on for three months and so far it succeeded.

*vroom

A high-speed car was passing him by as the blast of wind fluttered his hair against it. He rubbed his eyes that were scratched by the dust before he saw a sports car being parked outside the convenience store.

He gulped his saliva, he knew the sports car. He knew who it was belonged to. He was supposed to see her on Friday last week, but the failed attempt of the robbery happen.

The sports car was bright red with a black hood. It would surely catch much attention, but sadly, only the car was in the parking lot. Bystanders were nowhere to be seen as the door opened vertically. A beautiful gorgeous woman that could topple kingdoms came out of it.
