Chapter 2 - Somnambulist

CHAPTER ONE - SOMNAMBULIST

Silence grew as the lights went off in someone's home while the stars continue to shine and the moon to bright. It was illumination that covers the night's darkness. Children in town are fast asleep during this period of time but for some reason, a young boy named Sweven stays awake, gazing outside the window with fear in his eyes.

The door suddenly open on his room, it was his mother dear checking on her little child. ''Sweven'' Sabrina called out in a gentle voice as she tenderly hug her son who muttered under his breathe ''I'm scared Mom''.

''What's wrong?'' She asked while she caressed her son's soft hair into her warm hands, interpreting that everything is gonna be alright---as long as she is with him. ''There will be bad dreams. I shouldn't fall asleep'' He honesly said then gazed at his mother's face.

''Nightmares can be very scary my dear but if you're brave enough to conquer it, you will fall into sweet dreams'' An advice that came out from his mother's heart calms Sweven's mind a little bit but he still couldn't forget about something so he pulled Sabrina's hand, ''Mom can you sleep next to me just for tonight?''.

His mother nodded, tuckered him carefully onto his bed, gave him a kiss on the forehead and stayed beside him, embracing him tighly as time passes by, she eventually fell asleep. After hours of sleeping Sweven unconsciously got out from his bed, down to the stairs, opening the door quietly and leaving home without anyone noticing.

It was one o'clock when sabrina felt a huge gap next to her, she touches the empty space beside her and noticed there's no one laying down the mattress causing her to woke up in panic. Realizing her son is missing, got into her husband's room, called out his name and quickly shooked his shoulders off causing her husband to be startled, ''Sabrina?!''.

''Timothee I woke up and then his suddenly gone...we are beside each other but he went missing---I dont know what to do! Where are we gonna find him?!'' She repeatedly uttered. ''Calm down okay? Who's gone?'' He asked as he stood up from his bed.

''Your son! Sweven!''

Timothee then immediately called the police while Sabrina command the nanny to take care of her daughters and never leave them behind who are sleeping by that time. The neighbors heard the news so they lend a hand to help Sweven's parent. At midnight they held their flashlights in the dark to search for the young boy, every corner, every angle, every street, and everywhere but they couldn't find him.

''Timothee it's been hours. It's almost dawn. When are the police coming? Sabrina frowned. Her hands are sweating and her body is shaking, she couldn't think straight because she is worried and in panic. She dearly loved his son...well that is how a mother is.

''Sab--that---its Sweven!'' Timothee saw his son out of a sudden causing him to run quickly towards Sweven whom he saw crossing the street. Then the eventful situation just happened out of nowhere, when he grabbed his son's right shoulder, he saw two big lights heading towards them.

It was a truck that was about to hit them so he did what fathers would do to protect their son, he pushed Sweven away from the road while it all happened infront of the eyes of his wife which causes her to faint on the sidewalk.

Their son then woke up from a sleepwalk, he was totally clueless until he vividly saw his father bleeding on the ground and his mother laying down. At that point he was confused as he just stand there on the same spot without moving his body then the neighbors, policemen and ambulance came.\par

He began to realized everything and that realization help him grow but kept him tied.

ELEVEN YEARS LATER

Whenever Sweven passes through the road while bicycling, he would put on his earsphones without music. It was his common habit: pretending not to care on the surrounding as he silently listen to the busy city, where all dreams are made to achieve.

The alarming sound of siren made by police whom are chasing down a criminal and an ambulance rushing to the hospital are the same; it explains the life and death situation of a human being. Sweven saw the ambulance which made him think, if she only believe in me, she wouldn't be in that situation.

The woman inside was his professor in biology, earlier this week Sweven warned her about an accident that will cause her to fall on a building but she didn't believe him and told him he was crazy. Rather than feel hurt or talk back at his professor, Sweven didn't response to her words and just stand there with his gloomy face because he knew he doesn't have enough evidence to prove himself right.

That he can foresee the future events of someone he has a relationship with, For example: like how he share blood with his relatives and family and like how he shares bond with his friend, companion and acquaintance; Any one who labeled him as those will have a connection into his dream causing him to see their future.

People then come to crossed the street having that lively stamping rhythm---while some seemingly stomp on the ground with dissapointment in their hands and by that side theres a rally going on, infront of the tall gray building standing in the middle.

Awaken persons kept shouting for what they believe JUSTICE in another topic or certain issue about industry involving society. Sweven stop and look at them from a far, he remembered that his father used to work on the Grandeur company and all that he can say is there management was pretty good at that time.

Sweven realized his going to be late so he hurriedly cycled up to the cafe and came into his boss fancy office with lots of rubbish knick-nack and colorful paraphernalias. Madame Celice who is Sweven's boss and godmother is a black american woman, a fortune teller and knew Sweven's ability since he saved her from a murder.

''You're late'' Madame Celice said while cleaning her new crystal ball which Sweven seemed to noticed: ''Two minutes late is probably not counted''. Celine gave him a quizzical look when he replied, she understand Sweven's actions precisely so she forgave him very quickly.

''Okay you can go to work now!''

But before Sweven could ever leave he asked about the crystal ball on Madame Celine's table out of curiosity, ''What happened to the previous one?''. ''Look behind you'' She pointed outside the open door where her son is wiping the table who also works on the cafe and gets paid.

''Jackson accidentally broke it again'' Sweven turned infront of her to see her reaction, ''The f*ck accidentally, you mean intentionally right?!'' She frowned so he just nodded in response. ''Whatever! I wanted to asked you about something so maybe from now on...can you close the door'' She command changing the topic causing Sweven to obey her.

''Is this about what happened to the professor? I have done everything'' Sweven answered in advance Celine's question which made her held his right hand, ''There are times that we really can't save others but remember this Sweven its not your fault. You aren't to blame''.

Sweven really did all he got two hours ago after dawn, he arrived at his professor's place but the clerk didn't gave her room number even if he had proof that he was her student. Sweven let in---himself forcefully and got into doors to find his professor's hotel room.

She spent most of the time drinking on her balcony and at that time when Sweven went floors to floors, she sat down on the railings for a minute then eventually tried to leave but her foot got caught in a planter causing her to lose her balance and fall from her balcony.

It was already to late when Sweven reached her room, he called an ambulance so she was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital. Sweven didn't accompany her because of the guilt in his mind that's why he went back onto his bike to go to work.

The suffocating feeling of anxiety strike into Sweven's heart again as he served coffee and desserts to his customers. The cafe was established by Madame Celine's father, it all started as a small cafe occupying twelve person on three tables until it grew customers and became a second floor wide cafe wuth french decoration.

It is in business for 20 years and still going strong despite many trials and rivals. Sweven has been working on the cafe for 3 years so that he can financially support himself in college. Some of the customer aren't pretty good at him and some really aren't since he was a child but of course he now felt empty through the years of humiliating and bullying.
