"I still don't understand, how can shadowhunters be better than... than mundanes?" Clary asked as we walked through the Institute hallways trying to find something to help locate Simon.
"Because we protect humans." Izzy said
Clary sighs "You're right, humans, you protect humans, you left Simon all alone in the van, great job guys you rock." She says sarcastically.
"Clary can you just calm down for gods sake." I say looking at her "We'll find him... this isn't the first time he's gotten himself into trouble."
"How are you not worried right know he's your friend as well." She snaps at me
"Because this is not the first time saved Simon ass." I tell her calmly ending the argument
"There is some truth to the idea that human beings should have a modicum of common sense." Alec said
Clary scoffs
"Alec not now." Izzy tells her brother
"Look, they wont do anything to Simon, they just wanted to draw you out, they want the Cup and they think you have it." Jace told us
"But why do they think that? Why does anyone think that? What , my mum lies to me my entire life except, 'oh by the way there's this magic cup i hid on planet bongo, but don't tell anyone." Clary says ironically.
"Clary, Jocelyn didn't tell you where the Cup is she just hid somewhere she knew you would be able to find it." I say leaning against the table and smiling at her.
She sighs "What are we supposed to do now?"
"We have to report to the Clave." Alec informs us
"Great." Jace says under his breath
"They have to know we've learned about Valentine."
"You're such a goody two shoes Alec, have you done anything against the rules... ever?" I ask him
"No." Izzy answers for me
"I might have to change that." I say smirking at him
Clary gets back to the point " If the Clave has to know that he is my father, great tell them, what good does that do Simon?" Clary asked Alec
Clary, its all connected the vamps want the Cup." Jace told her
"Why? It makes new shadowhunters." Clary asked them confused
"Nobody wants Valentine forming an army loyal to himself." Alec said
"Plus it controls demons." Izzy adds
"They'll propose a trade Simon for the Cup and Valentine will trade my mother for the Cup, either way i lose someone i love." Clary says
"How bout we just toss it in the air and they can fight each other for it." I say
""So this doesn't matter to you?" Alec asks
"It does matter to me and anyway we don't have the Cup." I say "So cant we just go to wherever Raphael is hiding and ask him very nicely for Simon back." I suggest with a small shrug
"Look at all this stuff, these screens i mean can any of this help us help us find Simon?" Clary asked looking around the room we where in
"Where is he anyway? Some sort of crypt in Transylvania?" I ask sarcastically
"Actually no, That was Camille right? There locals." Jace said
"They're at Hotel DuMort down in Gansevoort Street." Izzy told us
"And we came back here? Why? We have to go there, lets go now, come on." Clary said grabbing my arm
"We need a Clave resolution for that." Alec said, OhMyGod does he ever have fun
"Can you just be reckless for once." I ask him
"Alec is right Hayley, the five of us cant just declare war on the vamps all by ourselves." Izzy said
"Borrring" I say in a sing song voice
"And we cant just react without considering our options, downworlders are slaves to there impulses, were not." Alec said
"Alec, you cant just jump on all the downworlders." Izzy told her brother
"Oh, that's right, Seelies have there charms apparently, right?" Alec asks Izzy smiling, Jace is smiling now as well
"Seelies?" Clary asks
"Like fairies, the Fair Folk, add nixies, pixies, elves... anybody half angel half demon, its pretty much a catch all term." Blondy told us
"Izzy can tell you all about them, shes got a thing." Alec told us
"We've all got our things, don't we?" She asked looking at me as i smirked at him making his smile faulter
"Okay, i cant listen to this Simons been kidnapped by Vampires, i guess ill just take care of it myself." Clary said as she started to walk away.
"Clary your gonna get yourself killed." Jace told her but she kept walking "Clary" still nothing
"Clary don't be an idiot you'll get Simon killed as well." I tell and she stops walking and turns around to face us again
"Then help me, while we consider other options, my best friend is suffering, is that something shadowhunters understand or am i just being mundane?" She asked Jace
"Raphael will go easy on him Clary... for now." I told her
"Was that supposed to cheer me up because if so it didn't work." She told me
""Clarys right." Jace said "They made the first move, we're gonna take care of this ourselves, right now."
"This is a bad idea, i..." Jace cut Alec off
"What have you got a better one? Look the vamps broke the Accords, they kidnapped a Mundine, that's a big no-no, the Clave will give us a lecture and they'll be glad we did it, Come on."
"Hard to argue with that." Izzy comments
"Even if we went ahead, I don't see how we get out of here without having to explain where we're going, we need weapons and we can't let anyone see us get them." Alec reminds us
Jace thought for a bit before saying "I know where to get what we need."
"Great." I said taking Simons keys out my pocket "Ill drive."
I park Simons van out the front of the cemetery
"Whose grave is it?" Alec asked
Izzy sighs "Mary Milligan born January 10th 1802 died January 10th 1878."
"All right Alec lets go." Jace said.
"Wait what are we looking for?" Clary asked
"Cache of weapons." Izzy answers
Stashed here with Mrs. MIlligan." Jace said
"Sick." I say they both look at me weirdly, "What?"
"Nothing." They both reply at the same time
"Why are there shadowhunter weapons in a churchyard?" Clary asked
"Because all of the ancient religion recognised demons, or at least they used to." Izzy told us
"They forgot about the threat because we've been here to protect them, typical mundane failure of imagination." Alec said
"Rude." I say
"Are you saying we did to good a job? You just cant let up can you?" Izzy asked her brother
"You know what? Alec why don't you go check out by the angel?" Jace asked him
"Alec wait up im comin with you." He turns around "Also can you give me a stamina rune." I ask him smiling
"Why cant Izzy do it for you." He asked
I turned and looked at Izzy "Can you give me a stamina rune." I ask her
"Get Alec to do it im sure he wont mind." She says winking at us before walking of and leaving the two of us alone.
"Pleaseeee." I say making my best puppy face at him, he looks at me for a couple of seconds
"Fine." He says angrily grabbing my arm and pulling me towards him making me trip but luckily he grabbed my waist before i could fall, he pulled me up and my face was inches away from his
"S sorry." I say pull yourself together Hayley why the hell are you stuttering he hears me stutter and smirks at me
"Something wrong?" He asks me
"No" I say too quickly which makes him laugh, he lets go of my waist and i turn my back towards pulling my shirt down slightly so he can draw the rune on my shoulder
"Only a stamina rune?" He asks and i nod my head, he moves my hair out of the way and puts a warm hand on my shoulder to keep me steady, which causes a shiver to run down my spine what wrong with you Hayley I clench my jaw as he starts to draw the rune.
"All done." He says pulling away and going to look for the gravestone
"Thanks." I say following after him
"Hayley, Alec." Clary called "we found it! Mary Milligan!" We started to walk over to where Jace and Clary were standing next to the grave
"Where'd Izzy go?" I ask her when we get close enough
"To find out how to get into the Hotel from Meliorn." She told me
"Beloved servant? Who would want that on a headstone?" Clary asked the two boys
"Someone who is in service to a cause greater than themselves." Alec told her
"At least she is now." Jace took out hi stele "Abracadabra"
"Wait you people actually say that?" Clary asked
"No, your actually so gullible." I tell her
Jace draws a rune on top of the grave, putting his stele away he and Alec lift it open.
"Awwww" I complain "I really wanted to see a dead body." I lean over the side and grab a Seraph Blade
"Don't touch that, you don't know how to use it." Alec told me
"Yes i do." I say "But if you don't believe me you can always teach me." I wink at him.
"I'm gonna show Clary how to use it. Do you see what you need here?" Jace asks Alec, he leans forward and looks in shaking his head
"No there's no bow here, i need one, i have to rune some arrows back at the Institute, i gotta go." He told Blondy
"Well how are you gonna get back in the Institute?" Jace asked
"Go in the back, he wont bother me if im alone."
"Okay good go I can finish up here." Alec was about to leave when he turned back around
"Hey... i understand what we need to do, and i trust you parabatai... but don't ever doubt me, no matter what i said." Alec says to Jace
"Its already forgotten, ill see you at dawn."
"At dawn." He says and turns to leave
"Ill drive you there." I say walking towards him as i get closer i whisper "I don't wanna be third wheeling because that's just awkward." He sighs and he keeps walking which i take as a sign that i can go with him.
I park the van on the Street before the Institute so we can go in the back door of the Institute, the room where the weapons are is empty so Alec goes over to the table and starts runeing arrows I lean on the table next to him and watch him while he works
"What?" He asks after a while
"Just admiring the view." I tell him "Do you do this every time you go out on a mission?"
"Yes" He replies
"Isn't easy just to use a Seraph Blade?" I ask
"I prefer a bow and arrow." He says "Why do you ask so many questions?"
"I'm a curious girl sue me." I say and he laughs "You should do that more." Idiot why did i say that
"Do what more?" He asks confused
"Laugh." I say he looks like he's about to say something when i stop "shit Hodge is coming."
He turns around just as Hodge reaches us
"What are you two doing here?" Hodge asks
"We uh..." Alec said
"Don't tell me i don't wanna have to report you, ill leave you to it and. Alec remember your not in Jaces shadow." He tells him
"Lets get out of here before someone else notices us." He says after Hodge leaves
We get in the van and drive to the Hotel DuMort.
