Chapter 2 - 2. Party Favor (part 2)

Theodore Handel was welcomed home with this sight; his mother devoid of any facial expression, fanning herself on the couch.

His father appearing stern while gazing through some papers.

And that woman running towards him with that psycho smile of hers.

- "Theodore, we are getting married!!!" said the women who even thought looked thrilled didn't dare to touch me. She's wise.

Seeing the three of them together had me guess this outcome. It's no surprise. What does thought, is her timing.

What an eager woman.

I look up at my father to see if there's any room for discussion but the look I receive back is enough answer.

- "I see." was all I said. Once again my parents took life changing decisions that concern my life without my consent or presence. They probably blame me. Let them be, if they think that marriage will tie me to this woman...

Speaking of her... What's her name again?

...

Long story short, they hastened the wedding ceremony and 2 months later Cora became the rightfully wife of Theodore Handel. She refused to look fat on her wedding day. She was a happy bride at once.

But happiness never last.

Cora wasn't happy.

Her in-laws were wary of her, it seemed that they were happy with the perspective of having a grandson but not a daughter-in-law.

They've started to buy male clothing and toys, to decorate a room for the unborn kid.

But why?

Why are they not paying attention to her? She's much better than a kid, he isn't even born yet. The kid it's literally pain in the ass, her old clothes won't fit, she feels sick, fat and the back pains are the worst. She has done nothing to him but he keeps her awake at night.

Cora is on her fourth month now and the baby's kicking is beyond annoying especially when someone decides that is acceptable to touch her, without her authorization, just to feel the kid being violent towards her.

Annoying.

The other thing that kept her mood fool was Theodore.

He won't keep her company, he won't answer her texts, pick up her calls and even sleep on the same bed or room as her.

Mr. and Mrs. Handel were actually surprised. They thought the girl would be a gold digger, eager to spend their fortune and order the maids around.

In reality the woman barely leaves the house. She dislikes shopping, doesn't care about money and the staff loves her.

She won't allow them to even clean her room; she says she's pregnant not disabled ( ~she's prideful, thinks she can do a better job and wants to show of how much of a good wife she can be; they are misunderstanding her).

She often invites maids to eat with her, watch movies and talk. ( ~ she makes them eat the food she cooked, she's training to be a good wife, they watch romantic movies for her to learn and talk about Theodore as a child, they are truly misunderstanding her). The Handel couple couldn't believe how much of a good person she was. ( ~god protect their souls)

The woman really had no family nor close friends. Her guests for the wedding were the watchman from the building in which she rented a room, two nurses from the hospital she goes to and an elderly lady who she plays chess with on the square.

She wasn't faking it. She's lonely, thought the elderly couple.

She wasn't in it for the money they've noticed. She wanted Theodore. She was obsessed about him. But the couple saw no harm on that and they just allowed her to be concentrating on their first grandson. They've always wanted to be grandparents and spoil their grandsons.

They were doing their best to prepare for his arrival. Unfortunately their son wasn't on the same page. The matter got complicated when the family doctor told them that Cora showed signs of depression. Once again they just brushed it off. The thing is they didn't know something that Cora had just discovered.

Theodore was cheating.

Once, he had called her a crazy bitch. This time though, she was going to make sure they all knew how much of a crazy bitch she was.

Cora knew that before the wedding Theodore was bedding other women. She hoped he would stop once they got married and he would focus on her. For her surprise he did stop, for a while, but the part of focusing on her wasn't quite on point, yet, progress is progress.

Cora was satisfied.

That feeling was short lived.

She felt neglected by her in-laws, cheated by her husband and annoyed by the creature residing her womb without paying rent. This made no sense for her. Why no one wanted to love her? Why they were all like her parents who preferred her sister?

Cora had lied. She never had the dream of not knowing her baby's gender, last week she visited the hospital in order find that out.

A girl.

She was LIVID.

How could this idiotic being steal all her nutrients, nights of sleep, beauty, clothing, time and still dare to be a girl???????

All of this added up to her stress. This kid would be hated, just like she was hated, because they hated her and they would hate the child.

Two months later.

[Trigger Warning]

Mr. and Mrs. Handel called the fireman to break the bathroom's door. Cora had locked herself there for 2 hours now.

They found the unconscious woman inside the tub, faucet on, the water red. The first fireman caught hold of her, both arms open, wrist to elbow. The second fireman took note of a kitchen's knife on the overflowing tub and the amount of empty medication boxes on the sink. Overdoses...

They thought it was over. Yet, the third fireman states that the girl is still breathing and so they all rushed to the hospital.

Cora had her stomach pumped, 2 transfusions and 23 stitches on both arms. She was alive, and somehow, so was the child. The Handel couple finally breathed in relief.

To this moment Theodore was nowhere to be seen. He wasn't answering his phone because he knew that at this time of the day calls were all related to that woman.

The police had found the suicide note on Cora's room:

"For whoever cares,

I'm deeply sorry. I'm not a strong woman, I'm an awful mother and I'm so sorry for not only leaving but also taking away my baby with me. I'm so sorry.

Theo why did you cheat on me? Why couldn't you hug me even once? Why couldn't you lay on the same bed as me, or just maybe the same room with me? Why have you never called me by my name? Why can't you love me just a little? I would be so happy with just a little...

Mr. and Mrs. Handel, I don't believe Theo will be the one to read this but both of you might. I'm sorry for all the money and time you have spent and invested on me and my child. I just can't take this anymore.

No one says goodbye to me and I've never learned how to say it henceforward I'll just apologize: forgive me for not being enough"

It broke the maids and officer's hearts. Mr. and Mrs. Handel were for the first time angry at their son. They finally got a call through and Theodore was commanded to get his ass on the hospital asap.

See what a happy family reunion ! ! !
