"What is it, Ced?" I asked in a concerned tone.
"Well, we've been friends for a few months, and over the school year we've gotten closer. A lot closer. I mean, you're perfect Alice, and I was wondering if you would want to go to the Yule ball with me. It can be just as friends, if you want — and you don't have to! I mean, you could ask any other guy in the school and they'd say y-"
I quickly silenced him by placing my glossy lips on his. I place my self on his lap and continued to kiss him, our mouths moving perfectly in sync. After awhile I pulled away from him, exhilarated.
"So is that a yes?" he asked surprised by my last action.
"Yes." I agreed, flashing him my teeth and placing my lips against his once again.
About 20 minutes later, we left the hospital wing, Cedric's golden dragon egg in hand. The egg was beautiful. It had different designs carved into it, and what looked like the bottom of a stem from a plant on the top of it. It was a brilliant shiny gold, so shiny that you could see your own reflection.
Cedric carefully opened the egg, making sure not to break it. The egg fully opened, the sides falling down, and a sudden terrible shrieking noise erupted from the egg. I quickly covered my ears, hoping for the sound to end.
Cedric closed the egg and stared at me blankly.
"What do we do with it?" he queried.
I released my hand from my ears and just as I was about to respond, professor Moody rounded the corner.
"Oh Cedric, I've been looking for you. I wanted to talk to you about the second task." the crazy eyed man said.
Intrigued, Cedric walked over to Moody and started to head to the DADA classroom.
Since I figured they would converse for a while, I strolled back to the common room. I sank into the deep yellow couch, observing the bright pink flowers and contrasting dark green vines. I pulled out one of my favorite books, The Hunger Games, and started reading.

I started to hear familiar footsteps clicking across the floor and looked up from my book.
"Hey Ced." I smiled as I closed it up.
"Moody gave me the correct instructions on how to properly open the egg, so I'm going to go try it out in the prefects bathroom. Do you want to join?..." Cedric stated.
My mouth dropped open.
"With bathing suits!" He blurted, covering his face with his hands from embarrassment.
I thought for a second. "Aren't only prefects allowed in that bathroom" I inquired.
"I'm sure they'll make an exception" he replied. I nodded my head and headed off to change.
Cedric's POV
I slowly walked down the hallway with Allison's hand in mine making sure no one would see us walk in there together. My heart was beating fast and hard. I had never felt like such a rule breaker before. Since I had always been so obedient to maintain my "perfect Hufflepuff streak", it felt strange to do this. Exhilarating even.
Bringing a girl into the bathroom? Let alone the prefects bathroom? I knew we were just going in there for the egg, but it still felt wrong. She made sure to wear a shirt with a bikini top under it and spandex shorts just to make sure it wasn't obvious when we passed other people in the hallway.
As we entered through the door, I closed and locked it. When I turned around I saw that Allison was already in the water, signaling with her index finger for me to come in with a devilish smirk.
Just to make things interesting, I threw the egg into her hands and tried to do the best cannon ball I could. Water flew everywhere, including Allison's face. When I came up for air, she splashed me in the face, giggling as she did so, then dove under.
I pulled her up and held her warm soft body in a cradle, wanting to hold her close to me. She quickly grabs my face and pulls me in for a kiss.
She let out a gasp as she dropped the egg, but we soon heard a beautiful melody come from underwater. We both look down and chuckle softly.
She turned my face back towards me and pulled me back in. I dropped her legs into the water still holding onto her waist. She grabbed both of my arms and shoved me onto a seat hidden beneath the waving water.
She sat on top of me laying her legs on both sides of my lap, deepening the kiss. I slicked her wet hair back and out of her face, taking a moment to breathe. Without even thinking I slid the, soaked shirt that was molded perfectly to her body, off an started to pull at the knot trying to get her bikini top off but she soon brought us back into a kiss that was much hungrier than before. The untied straps of her suit stayed laying on her shoulders. After sitting there for a few minutes taking the least amount of breaks we could, I decided to stand up.
She wrapped her legs around my waist never breaking the kiss. While I was spinning around the tub, I slipped, and we both went under the soapy water. We came back to the surface giggling since we were both extremely dizzy. She tied her top back together making it was double knotted this time.
I came back close to her and wrapped my arms around her waist.
"I think we should focus on the egg now." I whispered.
She frowned but agreed and dove under to find it. She rose from the water and held it in her hands.
"Wanna go under together?" I inquired.
She nodded her head in response.
Counting to three, we submerged into the warm water together, noticing the egg slowly opening up. A bright white light shone through a smaller egg in the center, and we heard the gentle song that was being released.
"Come seek us where our voices sound, we cannot sing above the ground. For an hour you'll have to look to retrieve what we took!" the egg sounded. It soon closed by itself and we swam to the top, gasping for air.
I quickly got out and wrapped a towel around myself, grabbing my dry clothes in the process. Allison walked into a changing room to dry herself off, and I try to figure out what the riddle means.
We cannot sing above the ground, it must be in the black lake. And mermaids are known for singing, the black lake is infested with them. I think I figured it out! But how will I get enough oxygen? I can't breathe underwater for an hour!
Allison soon walked out of the changing room and was almost completely dry, except for her hair.
"Hey Alice, I think I figured it out!" I informed Chloe as I ran over.
"Ooh! What is it?" she asked, visibly intrigued.
"So you know how the song played that said, 'Come seek us where our voices sound, we cannot sing above the ground. For an hour you'll have to look to retrieve what we took." I stated, stumbling over my words as I tried to remember the exact lyrics.
She rolled her eyes. "I know the lyrics already idiot" she chuckled.
"You didn't let me finish" I huffed. She raised an eyebrow as I continued.
"I figure it's going to be mermaids in the black lake. Can we study tommorow?" I blurted.
"You think I came down here to let you study by yourself." She said, punching me in the arm. "C'mon, let's go."

The next day I woke up early, wanting to go for a walk to clear my head. I started strolling across the bridge when I saw Harry.
I jogged over to him.
"Hey, how are you doing?" I asked.
"Spectacular." he drawled.
"Hey I just wanted to say thank you for helping me out back there." I said.
"Don't worry, you would've done the same for me." he reassured, just about to turn around to walk away.
"Exactly." I said louder so that he could hear me.
"Listen, the prefects bathroom on the fifth floor is not a bad place for a bath." I mentioned quietly.
"Just erm-, take your egg and mull things over in the hot water."
Harry nodded his head and walked away, obviously trying to process the words I just told him.
I walked the other way, deciding to go to my dorm room. When I entered my room, I realized how exhausted I was from the competition. Though my burn had fully healed, it still stinged, making me wince at the feeling.
I decided to go to bed even though it was only 7:00. I let myself slowly drift off to sleep, my body sinking into my bed. I thought about Chloe and her lovely scent of vanilla and cake, missing her being nestled in my arms.
My eyes closed softly and I let my muscles relax after being constantly stressed and worried all day.
I just hope that the second task will be better.
