Cleo's POV
"We're done, okay?" Draco yelled, throwing the ring I gave him at me.
"Fine! You know what? I hate you anyways!" I roared. I slammed the door behind me and stomped off, tears starting to form in my eyes.
How could you be so stupid Cleo? You hurt your friends, your dad is going to be furious, and you don't even have a date to the Yule Ball. You messed up big time.
Thoughts of self deprecation and fury kept zooming through my head, my breathing speeding up as I ran down the stairs to the quidditch field.
This is all Allison's fault. How is she so perfect?
I walked over to Cedric, out of spite, and asked if he wanted to go to the ball with me.
When he told me he was going with Allison I ran off the field wiping the tears from my face.
After the longest day of my life was over I decided to go to my old dorm room. A familiar wooden door was right in front of me, my closest friends behind that door.
More like former best friends. I treated them like garbage, only thinking about myself and not their feelings whatsoever.
I burst into the door and curled to the ground, small sobs flowing from my lips. I looked up slightly and saw my friends sleeping peacefully, their eyes delicately closed and their heads resting against their pillows. I looked around the room, taking in the scene of what used to be.
I saw something hanging on the wall so I walked over to it, curious as to what it was. It was a yellow dress and heels, for the Yule ball, I assumed. It was most likely Allison's dress, knowing that she was the only one who would wear yellow. I envied her, she had the perfect life with her perfect outfit and perfect pretty boy Diggory. I wanted Cedric, and I would fight her to do that. My eyes narrowed at the thought, anger filling every inch of my body. But before I did anything, another rush of emotions took over my body.
My eyes teared up again as I remembered once again that I wouldn't have a date to the Yule ball.
Nobody wanted me.
I fell to the floor again, this time louder cries came out. I felt a poke on my shoulder and looked up, seeing a figure standing before me.
My vision was blurred so I wiped my eyes and saw Hermione, a look of confusion and disgust on her face.
"What are you doing here, Cleo? Aren't you supposed to be with Malfoy?" she inquired.
"We got into a terrible fight and he broke up with me." I closed my eyes tightly and braced myself for another wave of tears.
"Oh, no, Cleo I'm so sorry." she muttered, sounding somewhat sincere. "
And now I have no place to go expect for here, so can I please stay?" I asked in a sqweaky raspy voice.
"Sure." she said while climbing back into bed.
I used my shaky legs to stand up and wobble to my bed, tears still streaming down my face. I plopped down, pulled the blanket over me and shoved my face into the pillow, soon after, crying myself to sleep.
I rubbed my puffy eyes and stumbled out of bed, putting on my uniform and doing my hair and makeup. I looked over from the mirror, and from the corner of my eye I saw Chloe's dress and shoes. A devilish smirk came across my face.
No dress, no date with Cedric.
I looked over at the girls and they were still dead asleep, almost nothing would wake them up now.
"Deletrius!" I whispered, and the dress crumbled into nothing but ashes right before my eyes.
I then threw the crystal shoes into the fire, straightened my tie and walked out of the room, ready to head to breakfast.
Since I couldn't sit next to Draco anymore, I sat down next to Pansy and shot Draco a glare. He sneered back at me, his brow furrowing and his lip curling.
What a git.
Pansy gave me a sympathetic look and gave me a tight hug, whispering words of reassurance into my ear. Since the year started, me and Pansy became close friends, and I trusted her with all my heart.
Well, to be honest, most of my heart.
I finished breakfast and went with Pansy to the Slytherin common room, and she brought me up to her dorm.
"For now, if you want, you can sleep in here." she announced proudly. I looked around the room in astonishment. Silky green comforters were neatly layed on the beds, and the deep black walls were covered in silver patterns.
"I'm sure this is better than staying with that room of Mudbloods. A disgrace to the magical world if you ask me." she stated. I furiously nodded my head, and walked over to a bed, sitting myself down.
"I'm so sorry about you and Draco." she said in a comforting tone, rubbing my shoulder in the process.
"I barely got any sleep last night. I kind of just drifted in and out of it, waking up and crying throughout the night." I sighed while putting my head in my hands.
"Do you want to get some rest? You'll want to get ready for the Yule ball tonight!" she squealed, trying to make me feel better. I gave her a smile and crawled under the covers, nestling myself in the emerald pool of fabric.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Cleo, get up!" Pansy said while lightly shaking my shoulders. I sighed and got up, taking a quick glance at the clock.
I walked over to my black dress and slipped it on, and slid my feet into my shoes. I slumped to the bathroom and took a curling iron to do some light curls.
I lazily wrapped my hair around the hot curling iron and let it sit for a few seconds, when I noticed my hair steaming.
What the? No, no, no, no! My hair burned!
Giant chunks of bright blonde hair littered the sink, and tears formed in my eyes. I bolted out of the bathroom. "
Pansy, my hair!" I screamed, holding the bald spots on my head.
"Oh no!" she gasped, running over to assist me.
"I have some hair extensions from my roommates we could use." she offered with a small smile.
She looked through some drawers and passed blonde pieces of hair to me, and I clomped back into the bathroom.
I need to look good to dance with Cedric. I need to convince him that I'm the obviously better option.
I furiously clipped the pieces in, trying to make it look as natural as possible. It was slightly noticeable, but no one would be able to tell.
I did some makeup and walked out of the bathroom door, ready for the Yule ball.
"You look great!" Pansy squealed, running up to me. She was wearing a dark green dress and her hair was in an updo.
"So, who's the lucky guy?" I asked, beaming with excitement.
"Oh, Draco." she said bluntly.
"What?" I asked, clearing my throat slightly and taking a large swallow.
How could she do this to me? I thought we were good friends.
She opened her mouth to respond, but I stomped out of the room and slammed the door.
I couldn't believe her.
Chatter filled the room, as did dancing, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
That is, everyone expect for me.
I saw Allison and Cedric laughing and gazing into each others eyes. It made me sick to my stomach.
I let out a deep sigh and sat down in a chair, crossing my legs. I saw Cedric and Allison walking over to the refreshments table so I wandered over there as well, wanting to give Allison a piece of my mind.
My eyes narrowed as I neared her and she did the same to me, her fists clenched tightly. Petty insults were thrown left and right, and soon I found myself raising my hand to strike her.
With a harsh tug, Allison ripped out my extensions, a wicked grin spreading across her face. My face turned red and I screamed at her, running off into the hallway. This was the worst night ever.
All I wanted was to be understood.
