I was sitting in the common room by myself, reading from the large stack of books before me. I was studying to try and help Cedric. While I was concentrating, I felt two arms wrap around my waist, warm breath hitting the back of my neck.
"Boo." I heard a deep voice whisper in my ear.
"Ahh, Cedric." I said sarcastically, slightly waving my hands in the air.
"Are you spending your free time to study for just me? I'm flattered." he joked, sitting down next to me. I could practically feel him smirk beside me.
"So...whatcha reading?" he asked, looking over my shoulder.
"Just reading about how to keep my Ceddy safe." I replied, using my hands to cup his face.
"Well, right now isn't the time. Follow me." he said while pulling me off the chair.
"Wait, where are we going." I inquired, pausing with a goofy smile on my face.
"Wait and see." he chuckled while picking up the pace of our walking. Soon enough, he was full on sprinting, dragging me behind him.
"Cedric...slow down!" I yelled.
He responded to this by picking me up bridal style, and continuing his rapid speed. Cedric ran outside with me in his arms, the light spring breeze blowing against my face.
He headed over towards a large green field, early morning dew scattered across it. Cedric placed me down and covered my eyes.
"I have a surprise for you." he said in a singsong voice. We walked for several minutes and then he uncovered my eyes.
It was wonderful.
A red and white checkered blanket was laid out underneath a soft pink cherry tree. Flowers were falling down onto a picnic basket on top of the blanket. I let out a small gasp.
"Ced, you shouldn't have."
"It's my solemn duty." he dramatically gestured at the seating area.
"Besides, I was the idiot who hurt you. Again, I'm so sorry." he said while looking at the ground.
We sat down on the blanket and he tucked a few stray strands of my hair behind my ear. He looked into my eyes and smiled his signature lopsided grin, and his grey eyes seemed to be the only thing I could focus on.
I slowly leaned in and our lips brushed against each-other, and what was a whisper of a kiss became heartfelt. I had never loved someone like that before, but I had to admit it was nice. I carefully wrapped my arms around the back of his neck, and pulled him closer.
We stopped for a second and I smiled at him, giving him a quick peck on the lips.
He stood up and reached his hands out, trying to grab me with his hands. I crossed my arms and laid down onto my back, pretending to act lazy. He then grabbed my hands and lifted my limp body off the ground.
He opened a small music box and set it on the blanket. Walking over to where I was standing on the grass, he set his hands on my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and laid my head on his chest, swaying slowly with the music.
For a second, time seemed to slow down. I looked up at Cedric to see him staring down at me. We stood there gazing into each other's eyes, not letting anything else distract us.
"I love you." he whispered.
"I love you more." I whispered back.
I couldn't believe I could say that to someone other than a relative. I love you. I have said it many times to him but every time was like the first -- I would never get tired of saying it. The music had stopped by and now and all we heard was the sound of light wind and birds chirping in the distance.
"Wanna bet?" he joked.
He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist, laying my head on his shoulder.
He sat me down on the blanket and then plopped down next to me, falling onto his back. We laid together, admiring the clouds and pointing out different shapes.
I turned my head, and saw Cedric staring at me once again.
"Take a picture, it will last longer." I giggled.
He was taken out of his daydream by me saying this, and smirked with a chuckle. He moved in closer taking me in his arms. His arms were wrapped around my waist, and his face in my hair.
"I really do love you." he promised, his voice muffled by my hair.
"Me too."
I turned around and cuddled up close to his chest, closing my eyes. Before I knew it I had fallen asleep, and I woke up to Cedric sleeping peacefully next to me. I ran my fingers through his hair, being careful not to wake him up.
He looked so angelic and innocent, his hair messed up and his lips slightly parted. I stared at his face for a couple more minutes before I heard a small chuckle escape his lips. My head shot up, my heart racing.
"You're awake!" I shrieked. He then laughed harder turning onto his back. I pushed his chest just hard enough for him to feel it.
"Ouch." he guffawed, rubbing his chest.
"That's what you get for scaring me." I replied.
He sat up leaning on his elbow.
"Oh come on, it was adorable." he remarked, slightly nudging me with his free elbow.
After cuddling for a couple more minutes, we started packing up, knowing that our friends would get worried. We walked back to castle, hands intertwined, and after getting to the common room, we headed our separate ways.
"Let's meet up tomorrow at breakfast to discuss the next task." I suggested Cedric.
"Sounds good, see you there."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
As soon as I entered my dorm two heads whipped towards me. I was bombarded with millions of questions, not even knowing where to start.
After sitting down on my bed, I told Ada and Hermione the whole story making sure not to leave out a single detail. Ada oohed and aahed while Hermione just sat there, intently listening to every detail.
By the time I finished, it was dinner time, so I took a quick shower and changed into clean clothes.
We headed down to dinner, both of them mocking me and laughing. I didn't mind, I was laughing with them.
We walked through the doors and the first thing my eyes traveled to Cedric with his friends. They were laughing at him and pushing him, while he was blushing madly.
They were mocking him too.
I blushed knowing it was about me, and I sat down at the table. I started to eat. My friends had finished earlier than me because I had taken a book to read, so I let them go back to the dorm while I sat there finishing my dinner.
As soon as I was done I walked out of the doors and I felt two strong hands pick me up.
"Not cool Ced!" I exclaimed while chuckling.
He kissed my lips and I ran my fingers through his hair.
"I thought we agreed that we would meet tomorrow morning?" I said with a devilish smirk.
"I couldn't wait that long" he whined right after he pecked my cheek.
I pulled away, "Well, I have to disappoint you, but I promised Hermione and Ada I would go right to my dorm."
He pouted right after I said that, his perfect eyes filled with fake sorrow.
I cupped his face mouthing the words "sorry" as he put me down. I gave him one last kiss and ran down the hallway.
As soon as I got to the dorm I closed the door with my back, looking visibly flustered with the encounter. My hair was slightly messy, and my cheeks and lips were pink.
"Thought you said you were coming right back." Hermione said, not even looking up from her book.
"Obviously they were snogging." Ada sighs.
I looked at her, confused.
"How did you know?" I replied.
"If you run back like that," she said, looking me up and down, "everybody knows."
"Ok, well I'm going to bed." I huffed with a slight attitude. I got ready for bed, putting on my silky pajamas and washing my face.
I went underneath the covers and flopped my head back, letting it hit the pillow behind my head.
"Goodnight guys." I whispered.
"Goodnight." the two girls replied in unison.
