Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Lost

Juliana

I have been running for sometime now and I had to stop for a break or I would collapse. I decided to keep walking so I wouldn't lose too much time. Then I heard a snap. I whipped around and I didn't see anyone, or thing for that matter. I decided to keep going. That's when I felt a presence behind me and when I turned around I saw a man. He towered over me. He was tall with dark hair and even darker eyes.

"What is a pretty little thing like you doing out in the forest alone?" He had a sinister smile with a few missing teeth. He was stalking towards me and I didn't know what else to do aside from walking backwards. I then felt something firm behind me, but it wasn't a tree. I jerked away and realized it was another man just as tall and frightening.

"Will you not answer me?" He demanded inching closer.

"I-I-I got-t los-s-st." I stammered just above a whisper. I was trembling with fear. I didn't know what to do. So I turned and ran. It was no use though they seemed to be faster than me and caught me around the waist. I was kicking and screaming trying to get away from them. The other one grabbed my legs while the other placed his hand over my mouth and I instinctively bit his hand. He only released my mouth and then slapped me causing my lip to bust open. I could taste metallic and felt something warm running down my chin. Then he tensed and tighten his grip.

"Let her go!"

I couldn't believe my eyes upon arriving. My demon was right, and I know he won't let me live that down later. "Let her go!" I said it barely composed through gritted teeth. I could feel the heat radiating off of me. My demon was at the surface ready to tear those men limb from limb.

The first man chuckled. "What are you going to do if we refuse?" He asked taunting him.

"Oh, I plan on tearing you both limb from limb." I said casually taking off my jacket and placing it on a bolder.

"Mind your own business son and go home to mommy. Let the men handle this." The one holding her legs said as they began walking.

"I really didn't want to have to do this in front of a lady, but I guess you leave me no choice." I said walking closer feeling my claws ascending from my fingers and my eyes changing to a blood red. The once men before me were now boys.

"Hey-y m-man, we d-don't want-t-t any t-trouble." The one said letting go of the girl from the waist after the other guy released her legs.

I have never been more relieved in my life. I was so terrified from the men holding me I didn't notice the man in front of me. Then I realized what was happening.

"Hey-y m-man, we d-don't want-t-t any t-trouble." The once confident man said in absolute fear. Before I knew it I was being released and as soon as I was free I ran past the man who rescued me. I ran for a bit before I needed to stop. I rested against a tree, sitting on the forest floor. I heard foot steps approaching my hiding spot. I tried to stand to run but my legs were too fatigued and felt wobbly. I was about to fall when I felt a pair of strong arms catch me. That's when I looked up and noticed a pair golden eyes looking over my face with concern. I felt this static shock against my skin but it didn't hurt.

"Easy, it's okay. I won't hurt you," he said. I couldn't help but stare. I have never seen anyone with eyes like his before. They were more than just gold, they had small flakes of green. They were barely noticeable. "Are you okay?" He continued.

"I'm fine. Thank you." I whisper. My voice was still a bit unsteady. He smiled at me and I was breathless. I was at a loss of words.

"Are you good to walk?" He asked. I hadn't realized he was still holding onto me.

"Yes. I'm sorry." I apologized. I could feel my face turning red. He let me go and I immediately looked down at our feet like they were the most interesting thing in the world. "I should get going." I said and started walking unsure of which direction is home now. That's when I felt the pain shoot up my leg and I collapsed to the ground.

The stranger took notice and rushed to me. "You don't look like you're good to walk." He said.

"I'm fine." I say brushing him away. I tried getting up. The only problem was I couldn't place any weight on my right foot. I signed and shivered, not from the cold but from his closeness. He seemed to have noticed and gave me his jacket over my shoulders. He then scooped me up bridal style and began walking.
