Chapter 10 - The Status System: Interests

Cypher stood, and Steigend threw up his arms in a stretch, "I think that's enough for now; if we can, I'll be happy to speak with you again." Stiegend nodded his head at Cypher words, and both of them made their way back to the main area. Anna and Steigend's female hung around a ways away and started speaking between themselves. Arriving at the festival, Cypher and Steigend split and headed their separate ways. Cypher made his way to the last position. He saw his legion gathered; looking behind him, he saw that Anna wasn't in sight. He sighed and turned on his heels to search for her; it didn't take long for him to find the two of them; both were still talking, although they both looked lost. Cypher walked up to Anna and pointed in the direction Steigend went for the other women; she looked confused, and once again, Cypher sighed.

It had taken ten healers to do the job of a single Anna; Cain pursed his lips as he counted all his earrings and watched over a resting Gallow. The amount of healing gel he was converted in made Cain want to gauge; the worst part was mainly on his head. His hair looked as if he were floating in the water, and it didn't help that Gallow had relatively long hair. About two minutes after Cain had finished counting, Gallow had woken up. "Ay, so tell me. How does the chaos status effect feel?" Gallow ran his hands through his hair, removing a vast sum of the viscous fluid and slicking his hair back in the process. "It lives up to its namesake, but the closest it can be compared to is a mix of necromancy and curse." Gallow stood as he spoke, and Cain watched his actions and laughed at the comparison. "So he has a mixture of Cypher and I for a status effect?" Gallow nodded and sighed at the sight of all the gel covering him. Cain pointed and laughed at his face like a small child; Gallow didn't look amused in the slightest.

Cypher told the women where Steigend went and made his way back to his legion members with Anna in tow, "What's her name?" Anna answered his question without too much hesitation. "Rosas." Cypher nodded his head and talked to Anna about her, and it seemed that the two of them had a lot in common. Some much so that they had already planned to meet sometime shortly, Cypher nodded his head, and they both stayed close together looking for Cain and Gallow. Walking through the still lively Cypher and Anna eventually bumped into someone, but it wasn't who they were looking for; Tyr stood lightly covered in the healing gel and seemed wounded. Cypher and Tyr looked at each other for a while before they both decided there was no reason for either of them to speak to each other; Anna looked back at Tyr, confused at his wounds but managed to keep quiet.

Anna was seconds away from asking Cypher what he thought had happened to Tyr, but the sight of Cain sitting surrounded by stacks of black cards and gold along with a Gallow covered in healing gel answered all possible questions. They both walked over, and Cain was the first to notice them, "Oh, hey Cypher." Cain weakly raised his hand along with his greeting, and Cypher responded in kind. "Hey, Cain. How badly did he lose?" Gallow slowly raised his head to look at Cypher, who just smiled at him. Cain started back up in his laughter, and Gallow just showed a smirk as he answered Cypher himself. "Barely." Cypher nodded at his statement. Eventually, Cain stopped laughing, and he and Gallow filled in the details about the fight at Cypher's request. Twenty minutes were needed for Cain and Gallow to finish detailing the battle; by the end of it, the entire climate of the festival changed, and it seemed that the focus was now holy placed on sparring matches.

Cypher had kept track of their movement even through the tell; it seemed that they were setting up a small tournament for the sake of entertainment alone. The bracket board was being filled out, and it looked like there were only ten positions, and none of them were filled yet. Cypher motioned over to it, "Let's go watch the fights." As Cypher spoke, his entire legion looked at him confused, and Cain spoke out, "What do you mean watch?" Cypher realized what they meant at that point and responded that he had no interest in fighting anyone right now. After he spoke, he walked off towards the arena, and his legion followed him. Arriving at the larger border for the fighting ring, it looked like people's names were finally being placed on the bracket; none of them were people he recognized; some of them he thought he remembered hearing, but none of them brought forth any memories let alone a face.

Cypher pulled out his phone perfectly until the voice of Steigend repeated behind him, "What are you doing." Cypher looked up only to see Stiegend staring down at him as if he was ready to kill Cypher if he answered incorrectly, "The tournament holds no interest."  Steigend dropped his fake exterior and replied, "the tournament is for legion heads, and I want to see you perform." Cypher sighed, accepting defeat, but the rest of his legion just stared at Steigend with a confused look; Steigend glanced over at Gallow and showed a disgusted look. "Here." Steigend reached out his hand and touched Gallow; bright flames erupted from his hands, and before Gallow could react, they dispersed. The gel coating his body had been burned into a stream rushing into the air. The sight amazed everyone who saw it that one ability would be a prized possession of anyone who could manage the feat.

Regardless, Stiegend motioned for Cypher to follow him, and he stood to follow. Steigend led Cypher to the bracket where he could see Tyr Kuss's name is painted on the board; at that point, Cypher had found a reason to join the tournament regardless of Steigend. Steigend led CYpher up to the post where names were given, and the man taking them seemed to know and respect Steigend enough to give a small bow in his presence; the acting man Cypher squinted his eyes. Regardless, Steigend informed the man that Cypher would be participating. The man nodded his head and asked for Cypher's legions, at which point Stiegend just began walking away, leaving the rest to Cypher.

When Cypher finished giving the man his legion's name, he seemed to recognize it, though he didn't remember Cypher. He could only guess that the man knew of many legions by name but not by the people who inhabit them, there had to be too many to count, and given the fact, a lot of the legions formed now wouldn't exist the next year around.
