The BOSS stared down the drones, the pressure that was emanating from it was so strong that Ray himself felt it through the screen. Ray smiled nervously and tapped the keys on the laptop as hard as he could.
"Okay boys, this is the last battle, let's see what you got!"
Attack, no defend. Drone 1 forward, Drone 2 fall back. Rays WPM at that moment was anything but slow. In fact, it was astonishing!
"Goddammit, I'm still too slow! What can I use to increase my speed, I need anything at all!"
Ray suddenly remembered something.
"That's right, I still have the SP that the system gave in the Newbie package the other day!"
Ray controlled the drones and made them take cover behind an abandoned building, this stall was perfect since he needed to get something real quick.
"Hehe, found it!"
In the system's store, Ray's hand hovered over a type of magic, it wasn't really a specific type, it was just a branch of the magic he's using now.
'Perfect, just what I need! Nothing better than a good ol' Techno Manipulation Magic!'
As soon as he purchased using his SP, Ray could feel his skill in controlling the drones had increased, it was no longer jerky and forceful, but like flowing water instead.
"Amazing! My hands float over the keyboard like a bee over a flower, it doesn't feel as forced as before, I feel like I'm breaking my limits!"
"Ding. Congratulations, your Technological Magic has reached level 2."
This was an amazing announcement, but Ray had no time to celebrate. He frantically pushed the drone away from the building and towards the backside of the BOSS level mosquito. The BOSS's red eyes stopped hovering across the area when it finally saw the drones coming up from behind the building.
"Shit, it saw me!"
Ray changed tactics and switched to a battle of attrition instead. He sent Drone 1 forward and attacked using it, and using his nano receptors and other keyboard, sent Drone 2 behind the BOSS while the other drone distracted it.
This strategy change only worked for a while since this BOSS leveled monster was fairly intelligent. It could adapt to the strategy change in the blink of an eye.
"Dammit, this isn't working. I am someone who is tested with an IQ of over 140, why can't I destroy this measly beast? Every strategy I employ is useless in front of this thing!"
Ray's lamentations were not heard though, and the time he used to lament was also the time the Boss used to wipe out Drone 2. He hadn't even realized this until one part of the split-screen turned dark and his nano receptors didn't respond.
"Shit, what happened just now?"
Ray controlled Drone 1 to go further up into the air and scanned the area around the giant mosquito.
'Is that-'
Before he could even finish his thoughts, several large mosquito's were heading for him, not just several. It was a goddamn swarm of them! And they were female too.
"That means, their suckers should have evolved sharp enough to impale quality metal gotten from god knows where. Ah, this cannot go on like this. I need more firepower!"
At the last moment, Ray realized that skill and tactics were not enough at his measly level.
"I only need more firepower."
And with that, he pressed the Esc key on his keyboard and left the monster alone... for now!
'Time to end this bull crap.'
"Technological Magic- Machine Lord Transformation!"
This was the lowest level attack magic he had, but it would suffice. With a loud bang, several thrusters erupted from his feet and he flew out of the apartment without another word.
Ray looked around his apartment which was crawling with monster corpses. He didn't bother with these ones and flew further away from his apartment.
"Machine Lord Transformation- Electronic Eyes!"
His eyes whirred mechanically and flashed with bright blue light.
"Such a puny mosquito destroyed my baby. I'll kill you!"
Ray kept the Electronic Eyes on and aimed his palm at the raging BOSS in the distance.
"Machine Lord Transformation- Gun Limbs!"
And with that, six glowing revolver barrels appeared on Ray's palm.
"Death to All!" And with that, he blasted off at the Mosquito BOSS, who was unaware of how he died.
A provocative name for sure, but this move lived up to its expectations. Ray took a quick look at his status and came to a conclusion.

"I used so many skills and it only drained my mana points by that much? Conclusion: Either these skills have low-mana cost in return for high firepower, or my mana value that seemed so little is actually like a large reservoir of water compared to other's measly cups. Hehe, could this be an effect of my genius intellect?"
Ray flew in the air, supposedly unaware of the gazes observing him in awe and envy at the moment. Ray flew back to his apartment without a care in the world. He only cared about receiving the rewards the system stated and going back to criticiz- no, read novels.
"Ding. Congratulations on completing the mission. The rewards are as follows: Magic AI Program. And for completing the mission ahead of the required time the extra rewards will be 500 EXP, 100 pieces of Rat fur and the sucker of the Mosquito Boss."
Aside from the EXP, the rest of the rewards went into his inventory. Ray laughed at this development and took a look at his status again.

This was all he wanted to see and all he needed to see. Just these rewards were enough to let him forget about the losses incurred during this mission. He lost one new drone and about five hundred out of a thousand SP.
"Sigh, hopefully such missions will not occur anymore, right now, all I need is a good rest and a nice long relaxing bath."
And with those words, Ray drifted off to sleep.
