At this point, Ray found no point in becoming anxious, if he had to die then it was his fate, no point trying to go against fate. But luckily, the heavens didn't want to get him just yet, and the earth wanted to see what he still had in store.
It's like that famous saying.
'Heaven didn't want him and Hell couldn't keep him.'
But Hell was replaced with earth and the earth still wanted him... for now.
"Ding. Congratulations you have slain an A-rank human. You have been awarded 70,000 EXP, 20 Skill Points and 10 Stat Points."
Ray instantly became overjoyed, because he received confirmation that the sympathetic magic worked and that he was now on Level 43, a step closer to avoiding death.
Ray hurriedly repeated the same process on the other thirty-two dolls and waited for the flood of notifications to come in. But before he did that, he checked his status to see the difference, apart from the entry of Stat points and Skill points, his level now looked like this:
[Level: 43 (18,432/66,000)]
With his voodoo abilities, levelling up didn't seem like much, considering how much just one A-rank human was worth. Ray had four of those dying right at the moment, this was the joy of becoming rich!
"Ding. Congratulations, you have slain four A-rank humans. You have been rewarded 280,000 EXP, 200 Skill Points and 70 stat points!"
Instead of giving the notifications individually, the system made it more convenient for Ray and combined them into one single notification. But that wasn't all.
"Ding. Congratulations, you have slain eleven B-rank humans. You have been awarded 330,000 EXP. 1000 SP and 350 stat points. As a reward for levelling up a lot consecutively, you have been awarded the research package; Magic For Dummies II."
Adding to this notification, there were dozens of level-up notification dings making up the theme song of this 'mass level up'.
"Ding. Congratulations, you have slain seventeen C-rank humans. You have been awarded 170,000 EXP, 7500 SP and 730 stat points. As an extra reward, you have gained a skill in Technological magic; Electricity Manipulation."
At the C-rank one, the congratulations notifications stopped coming in, but the level ups were still going strong.
"Ding. You have levelled up!"
"Ding. You have levelled up!"
"Ding. You have levelled up!"
"Ding. You have levelled up!"
"Ding. You have levelled up!"
. . .
The notifications only came to a complete halt after a few minutes, and Ray collapsed onto his couch with sweat dripping down his forehead.
"For a moment there, I thought I was God!"
"Ding. Congratulations you have completed the mission. The rewards are Aero-Mechanical Physiology and 5 EXP."
Ray twitched his lips upon seeing what the rewards were.
"So, I wasted my time to get something I do not know what is, and a measly 5 EXP. For god's sake when I first got the system my EXP from completing the most basic of missions was 500 EXP. And with a mission that could potentially kill me, I only get 5 fucking EXP!"
"Ding. Shut your mouth and await the infusion of the physiology."
Ray could barely make out the words that the system projected in front of him. Everything in his vision was blurry and unclear. The dark spots clouding his eyes gradually became larger, and he faded into unconsciousness, unaware of what was to happen next.
. . .
'Am I dead?'
Various thoughts popped into Ray's mind as he floated through a dark space.
'Did that bastard go against his word? Did he kill me?'
Even in this weird state, there was nothing that could stop him from cursing, but he didn't do much of that, there was no need to.
'What happened before everything went dark?'
Ray tried to recall what happened after he gained the reward of the mission.
'Right, he said something about a 'physiology'. I don't think I'm dead.'
With those words to himself alone, Ray was able to push himself back of this dark womb-like space and emerge from unconsciousness.
. . .
'Ugh, I feel like someone rammed my head against the wall a thousand times.'
Ray clutched his red hair and groaned internally.
"That's right, I need to check if anything has changed!"
Without wasting a single breath, Ray called up his status.

Ray's eyes widened at his stats, and he'd not even allocated the stat points yet.
"I only got the system a few months ago. How is it possible I've reached this level already?"
Ray, the bearer of the system himself was confused. Was this all part of the system's ploys to lower his guard and kill him?
Ray didn't voice out these thoughts to make sure the system did not hear him suspecting him.
"Huh? There are new parts to the status, fame and title, eh? That's nice. Hmm, basic wind magic and stride too, where'd they come from?"
Ray cooly commented after looking over the status again. As someone who criticized and read multiple novels in his years as a NEET, the terms Title and Fame were not strange to him at all, and so he only shrugged this off.
The only important thing now was that he was no longer full human.
