Chapter 26 - Time for some more Brainless Leveling!

"Haha, take that!"

Ray cried excitedly as he activated his Email Cloning Technique and Internet Warrior Transformations. The opponent on the other side of the screen could no longer say more words, and Ray successfully won the battle.

"Whew, to think that these skills are actually so useful in my novel critic profession. If I knew, I would have used them more often!"

Ray was having a good day, mostly because throughout the entire week there was no mission assignment from the system. That gave him time to focus on his research and criticizing novels.

*Sip!*

Ray picked up a mug near his computer and sipped on the coffee within it. The taste of the coffee was not bad, though it had changed after Dark Aristocrat arrived, the new taste now provided some sort of dreary gloominess to it.

It was the sort of feel you'd see in 'end of the world' themed novels and movies. But the coffee didn't taste that much different to Ray, mostly because he was still on cloud nine.

"I Luv My Job."

Ray spelled out the words on the mug slowly and thought to himself, thinking about how much he really loved his job. Sadly, his side job popped up, bigger than ever!

"Mission: Level up to 50 in one day.

Rewards: Unknown

Time limit: Read the fucking mission!

Failure for completion: Death"

A unique way to assign a mission, that was for sure. Ray wasn't as surprised again, but this was becoming too much, knowing the system wouldn't answer him he cried internally.

'Why must you do this? Isn't there some way to put you on mute?!'

And as usual, his cries went unanswered.

Ray sighed loudly and placed the cup of coffee on his desk, just by his laptop. He had a headache. Was the system taunting him?

Level 27 (1500/20,000)

His level was still a long way to go from fifty, the exp he got from low-level monsters wasn't enough to level up to even thirty, and if he used the drones, it'd be less efficient than going out himself.

"Sigh, in the end I can't be an Indoor Mage."

Ray Lamented and hurriedly cast a spell. It was the nanosensors activation spell that he uses to control the drones. This time around, instead of casting the sensors on his laptop, he cast them on his brain and the receptors on the drones.

The sudden burden on his mind was not new to Ray, this sensation of being burdened often happened when he tried to cross his limit by using more spells than his MP could handle.

Ray walked out of his apartment for the first time in a while, followed by five golden sphere drones hovering around his body in a kite flying formation. They hummed and buzzed with a mechanical sound, warning anyone with ill intentions that they would not hesitate to fire at them.

The people of the slums watched in awe at the floating drones and hid when it passed by. Each time this happened, Ray became increasingly more uncomfortable.

'This is the reason I hunt using my laptop.'

"Hey, you there,"

All of a sudden Ray felt someone tap his shoulder from behind.

'That's impossible! He shouldn't be able to bypass the Golden Star Drones!'

Ray's mind went into hyper speed and came up with more than a hundred ways this person bypassed his drones. The multiple thoughts running through his mind did not affect his facial movement, instead, he appeared very calm.

"What is it?"

He asked, showing no sign of panic.

"Die!!"

The person abruptly pulled out a dagger from his rags and thrust it towards Ray's torso.

"Ugh, close one."

Ray was lucky, at the last moment he activated his Machine Lord Transformation and covered his body with a layer of light bronze shell armour. However, as for the attacker, one couldn't say the same thing. Impaled into his heart was a blue spear made of energy.

Behind the spear, a golden star drone hovered and proved Ray's hypothesis.

'Not only can I attack, as long as I yell out the words attack, but it will also seek out the closest enemy and annihilate him.

"Ding. D-rank Human killed. 1000 EXP earned."

Ray's eyes widened at the earnings, he seriously considered becoming a serial killer before brushing off the idea with a minor shrug.

'Nah, being a serial killer will prove to be too much work. Wouldn't want that.'

. . .

Four hours passed and Ray had only levelled up to 35. His speed was seriously too slow. At this rate, he would never reach level 50 on time.

"Machine Lord Transformation: Heat-Seeking Vision!"

A pair of red visor goggles appeared over Ray's eyes and changed his visual orientation. These heat-seeking goggles help him find large amounts of heat clustered around.

This would have been a problem since it would not differentiate between Monster heat and Human heat. But his research shows that they are more different from most realize.

Monster heat was generally more abundant and lively compared to human heat, but some humans had abnormal amounts of heat radiating from their bodies, these rare types of humans would make it hard for him to figure out who to attack.

"Meh, I'll just wing it!"

"Mechanical Lord Transformation- Heat Seeking Missiles!"

Ray raised his arm into the air and activated a special skill in the transformation magic. Using this skill, he targeted some specific sources of heat.

Four missile launcher holes appeared in his palm and shone with a bright orange light.

"GO!"

His yell activated the missiles and with a loud bang they went off. The EXP notifications didn't come immediately, but they had to have come sometime around.

"Ding. You have slain 4 BOSS F-rank beasts. You have gained 2000 EXP."

"Ding. You have slain 100 E-rank beasts. You have gained 50,000 EXP."

"Ding. You have slain 10 D-rank beasts. You have gained 10,000 EXP."

"Ding. You have slain 10 E-rank humans. You have gained 5000 EXP."

"You have levelled up!"

"You have levelled up!"

"You have levelled up!"

"You have levelled up!"

...

In the end, Ray levelled up a total of six times. Boosting him up to Level 41 with a long way to fill in the experience bar.

The last notification before the level up notification was a surprise. He knew he'd kill some humans, but he didn't know he'd kill so many, nor did he know that these guys who were meant to be a little strong fell so easily like rice crops during harvesting season.

. . .

"Huff, Huff, Huff!"

An alleyway was filled with heavy pants, but the one breathing was nowhere to be found.

"What the, *huff*, what the fuck *huff*, was that?"

The person panting heavily was evidently a survivor of one of Ray's experiments.

"Those seemed like a heat-seeking missile since I ran away for so long yet it still followed me..."

"... Luckily, my ability, Stealth also hides my heat so those kinds of tricks don't work on me."

The person panting repeatedly answered his own questions, making him seem like the impact from the missile damaged his brain.

"I got to report this to the popo, the news maybe. They should arrest the bastard that did this to me!"

. . .

Similarly, in other parts of the vicinity that Ray released his missiles in, other people complained and reported to the police and various news stations. Hence forming the not-so-fictional character; God Heat Seeker!

Meanwhile, Ray did not care about the urban myth he developed, instead, he was too busy trying to find out other tactics to increase his level. Otherwise, the only thing waiting in store for him is DEATH!
