I wonder... how does it feel to be loved. I love my parents, but the same can't be said on how they feel about me. I was the hated child between us three siblings. Regardless on how they abused me, I still loved them.
It's been almost 3 years now since I last felt... normal I guess? I moved out to my own apartment a few months ago thanks to the help of some scientists that also provided me with an Overdrive Gear or Over Gear for short. I wish I could live normally from now on at the very least. Well, not normal since what I am is counted as abnormal. What is normal in this world now anyways? The Over Gears for example. Those are out of the ordinary.
What are the Over Gears? They are weapons made to fend off these monsters that come out of portals that appear out of nowhere. Well, back then that is. Now, these things are just used for entertainment. There are schools dedicated on teaching children on how to use these weapons. Because for some reason, teens need to do it. Although, that's about all the info I've got about these weapons.
"Ah. Finally, here's the bus."
I was waiting for the bus to arrive. It took so long that I thought that I would actually be late. I walked into the bus.
I took a seat at the very back because I was not really that good with many people. The bus started moving after a few moments. I had nothing to do so I just looked out the window.
A memory flashed to my mind. It was the news that I watched yesterday. 'Portal activity is rising once again.'
'Does that mean monsters will start appearing in our world again?'
I shook my head and just forgot about that thought. I mean, it's no use worrying about something that didn't even happen yet.

About halfway to my school, we encountered something that I didn't expect to encounter.
"A portal!"
"Run!"
There was a portal right in front of the bus. The bus backed up quickly, almost hitting some of the civilians. I wasn't just going to let the bus hurt people, so I told the bus driver to stop. Luckily, the bus driver listened to me and stopped. However, even thought I was relieved that no one got hurt because of the bus, the portal that could cause more casualties is still active. I pulled the lever to open the door.
I dashed out the door and ran in front of the portal. Right as I got there, I heard a bone chilling scream. A few moments after, a hand about 2 feet long emerged from the portal. I was a bit frightened so I took a step back.
"Well, let's just see if this works."
I called out my Over Gear. My two arms was then surrounded by shadows that formed a gauntlet before dissipating. The gauntlet was pure black with some red tints at the end of each finger.
Where did the gauntlets come from? It came from the chips embedded in both of my arms. Although, when they first implanted these chips, I felt like my mind was being taken over by something. Actually, I wasn't even sure if the things they implanted in me were chips. Nevermind that, it's time to save these people.
The beast started to slowly come out, but I wasn't going to let that happen.
I pulled my fist back and took on a punching stance. I took a deep breath and readied myself fort the pain that I was about to feel. My abilities aren't that suited for me.
[Multiply...] I whispered.
I then threw a punch to the exposed hand of the beast. The beast's hand exploded on contact. While it screamed in pain, I was also agonizing.
The ability I just used was called [Multiply]. It multiplies my strength by 2 or even more than that. However, I can't control it, so I end up having to endure a lot of pain whenever using it. I have another ability called [Flash], but it's drawbacks are as severe as this one.
As the pain in my arm started to fade away, so did the agonizing screams of the beast. The portal slowly closed. I was lucky that this beast wasn't as persistent like the ones they taught us about. Regardless, a beast is a beast, so I was lucky to even survive.
"Oh wait... I'm going to be late!"
I dashed into the bus again and told the driver to keep on moving. A little disrespectful, I know, but I was going to be late!
