Chapter 10 - MARRIED WITHOUT LOVE

"Why do you think I want your death? if I want your death. I don't have to bother begging your father to stop the whip when I see you can't stand it anymore." said Fazrani in a flat voice.

Allam stared into Fazrani's eyes there was no lie there.

"You know where I can't endure?" Allam asked with foggy eyes.

"From your two legs which were already shaking and looked shaky when that lash was thirty-five." Fazrani replied in response to Allam's gaze which suddenly dimmed.

"Why don't you just let me die, I'd rather die than be tormented by your hatred for me." Allam said with clenched fists.

"I won't let you die, because if I really get pregnant later I don't want my child to live without a father." said Fazrani sitting in the bamboo hall beside Allam.

"Only for that reason you want to marry me?" Allam asked with a heart more painful than a lashing.

"If not for that reason, do I have any other reasons? do you think i want to marry you because i love you? you know for yourself I love Hafiz." said Fazrani with pain.

"That's enough Zra, don't say that again .. I know you don't love me and forever you only love Hafiz. But listen Fazrani we are getting married soon, and I ask you to respect our marriage later." Allam said with an increasingly painful heart.

"Appreciate our marriage? we will see who will appreciate our marriage more. I will do my duty and you will do yours. But not by sleeping together because in our marriage there is no love at all." said Fazrani a little annoyed by Allam's words.

"All right, we do what you want." Allam said in despair.

"Very nice." said Fazrani with a long sigh. Fazrani really knew what she was saying, it must have really hurt Allam.

But what she did for the good of Allam and herself so that all the anger and disappointment that was there could be lost at the beginning to start with a new feeling.

Let there be a fight in the beginning, at least as a lesson to find a solution and a way out together.

"Allam, Fazrani." came the voices of Laila and the others entering the holy house.

"Yes ma'am." replied Fazrani changing seats on the long chair.

"So you two agreed to get married today?" asked the Village Chief seriously.

"Yes, Village Chief, because I want to look after Allam while he's here." answered Fazrani seriously.

Allam looked at Fazrani's face with difficulty. Don't know what Fazrani's true goals and intentions are.

"You are indeed a good woman, even though you have clearly been hurt by Allam you still care and love Allam and his parents." said Habibah with teary eyes.

Fazrani smiled but inwardly she was crying, she was just an ordinary woman who had pain and anger and was disappointed.

"Well, even though this marriage was sudden, the most important thing was that it was valid in God's eyes, for that there had to be parents and witnesses." said the Village Chief who brought his three married sons as witnesses and Fazrani's parents were Husnan and Habibah.

Beginning with a prayer from the Village Leader and advice on how to answer the chanting of the wedding, Allam and Fazrani's wedding process was completed without any mistakes from Allam's words and ended with prayers and advice in fostering a happy household.

Fazrani's heart felt relieved, when she heard and saw Allam's sincerity when he answered everything the village leader had said.

In his heart, Allam is very happy to be married to the woman he loves, even though in his heart he is very sad because he knows that Fazrani does not love him.

"Alright, since you are legally husband and wife, according to Fazrani's wish to keep you here, we cannot prohibit it. I hope that by marrying Fazrani, Allam will be a good man and a good husband for Fazrani, Amien." said the Village Leader with a smile.

After finishing praying to the parents, the Village Leader and Hafiz's parents returned home.

"Fazrani, thank you for choosing Allam to be your husband. Please direct Allam to become a good husband who can take care of you and be proud of." Said Affandi with a pleading look.

"I'll try Dad." replied Fazrani nodding her head.

"Oh yes Fazrani, this is my mother bringing food for you two tonight. Tomorrow morning I will bring another meal." said Laila with a happy heart.

"Thank you ma'am, let me take it home tomorrow morning." said Fazrani with a smile.

"Okay, I'll wait for tomorrow morning?" said Laila then looked at Allam, who had been silent from earlier.

"Allam, how do you feel are you happy to be married to Fazrani?" asked Laila with a soft gaze.

"Happy Mom." Allam answered quietly.

"Thank goodness Lam, Mom and Dad came home first. you two be careful." said Laila then came out of the holy house.

"thank you mom." Fazrani replied smiling, accompanying us to the front door, then came back to Allam, who was still silent with his thoughts.

"What are you thinking?" asked Fazrani as he was about to touch Allam's wound.

"Do not touch." Allam said with a face that was completely wrong.

"Why? I want to see the wound?" said Fazrani who wanted to know how deep the wound was.

"My body is too dirty, for you to touch." Allam replied in a low voice.

"We are husband and wife, so nothing is dirty or clean." Said Fazrani, sitting close to Allam's side then touching the bandage covering Allam's wounds and back.

"Don't look at it now, just wait for tomorrow morning, there is a village doctor, you can see it." said Allam who was still trying to avoid Fazrani who touched him.

"Okay, let's eat now?" asked Fazrani again who was a little confused what to do because she was tired and wanted to lie down but there was no place at all.

"Eat up, I'm still not hungry." Allam answered still with silence.

"What is wrong with you?" Fazrani asked, who was very surprised by herself. The one who should be angry, silent and traumatized by being touched was her, but this turned around as if Allam had experienced it.

"I am alright." Allam replied trying to shift his body because his legs were shackled again.

"Why did you shift?" asked Fazrani even more astonished.

"You need a place to sleep." Allam replied, still trying to move.

"Don't you mind me, I can sleep anywhere." said Fazrani looking at the weirdness in Allam.

"Allam, when you do that with your friends, why do you get hurt on your face and body like what I got?" asked Fazrani, who she wanted to ask since this morning.

"Why do you think so?" Allam asked with a complicated look.

"Because mom said, when you took me alone you already got wounds and bruises like what happened to me." Fazrani replied with a full gaze staring at Allam's face.
