The cool autumn breeze flowed through my hair while I inhaled the scent of last night's rain shower. I can't believe it was almost Halloween. September zoomed by like a bullet train. It was Friday, Halloween being on Saturday. Kyllie, Samuel, Haru, and I were invited to Katsu's Halloween party tomorrow. We were all required to wear a costume. It was exhilarating, I've never hung out with any sort of friends let alone going to a costume party with friends. I smiled, snuggling my face into my warm red scarf. Unfortunately, I didn't have any costumes from previous years, which requires me to buy one before tomorrow. I let out a deep sigh.
My shoes felt wet. I had stepped into a small puddle while I wasn't paying attention. I stopped and glared daggers at the puddle. It wasn't even a living thing, but it was enough to ruin my mood. I let out yet another deep sigh and started walking again. I was walking to school alone today, Haru said he had to stay in at the station a bit longer and Samuel said he was doing something else. This made my walk to school as depressing as it used to be. My feet shivered from the cold water, the wind adding to the uncomfortableness. I finally reached the school gates, I rushed inside the main building to seek shelter from the fall weather.
The moment I got inside my body melted into the warmth of the school. My feet didn't feel as cold anymore and my lungs stopped feeling cold and dry. I ended up going to class unlike the usual meet-up with friends.

It was already lunch, I ended up eating with Kyllie. Samuel wasn't in sight and Haru came to school but seemed a bit busy with something.
"Hey, hey." Kyllie repeatedly tapped my shoulder. "What are you going to wear for the party tomorrow?" She asked curiously.
"I honestly don't know. I don't have any costumes so I'll need to buy one." I huffed.
"Wow. Then do you wanna go downtown and go pick up costumes?" She asked.
"I thought you already had couples costumes with Katsu?" I asked confusedly, resting my chin on my propped-up arm.
"I mean yea we do. But I need to go into town to get a few finishing pieces for my costume. So we should as well go together." She finished.
"Alright then." I shrugged my shoulders. "So is after school okay then?" I asked. Kyllie gave me a nod indicating yes, then continued eating her meal.

School was finally over. It was currently 3:10pm, about 10 minutes since school ended. I was waiting for Kyllie at the front gate.
She eventually came a few minutes later and we walked off to the nearest bus stop. We paid the fee and got on the bus, I took the window seat while Kyllie took the aisle seat. We reached our destination and looked around for a decent shop.
"So what do you want to dress up as?" Kyllie asked, breaking the silence.
"I honestly have no idea." I sulked as I responded. Kyllie blinked at me in slight annoyance. I looked away awkwardly for a second.
"What do you think would look on me?" I asked trying to relieve the small bit of tension between us.
"I don't know. Once we look at the costumes I can get an idea." She responded. We walked down the sidewalk for about 3-4 minutes until we found a nice costume shop. With the goblin and vampire props on display like any classic Halloween store.
We walked into the shop. The warmth from the heater caressed our exposed skin. Kyllie rubbed her hands together to create friction hoping to embrace the warmth of the shop. She sighed in relief.
She looked around the shop in awe. I was looking curiously at some of the costumes. They were of decent quality and they had loads of varieties. This was going to make choosing a costume harder. I walked up to where Kyllie was standing.
"I have zero ideas on what I should wear." I groaned. Her phone buzzed then she let out a slight giggle. I was assuming it was a text from Katsu.
"Hm, don't worry. I can pick one out for you instead." She said getting all excited.
"I don't mind as long as it isn't something super inappropriate," I said feeding into her excitement. The store had cosplays and costumes themselves. Some were on display, some packaged, some were for trying on. Kyllie so happened to pick out 4-5 costumes for me to try on. They were common costumes such as witches and angels.
"That's not 'the one'" she emphasized. I coughed, what was that supposed to mean?
Then she found one she got excited about. I ended up trying it out. The slightly colored white uniform with black details was all too familiar. It was comfortable as well. Kyllie seemed to like it too. As soon as we both confirmed we were satisfied with the costume, Kyllie picked up small props. It seemed like some stuff was for me, some for her. I decided to pick up a pair of black leggings to go with the costume.
We ended up playing for our items and going home. It was overall a trip worth wild, now I didn't need to worry about a costume for tomorrow.

I woke up at about 10am. Even tho it was Halloween today and I had to help with the party, it was still the weekend, and I wasn't going to get up any earlier than I had to.
I got up and freshened up. I wore an orange sweater that hung over the sides of my shoulders, the black leggings I bought the previous day and pulled my hair up into a messy bun. I met up with Kyllie at Katsu's house so we could set up. I was going to help them before the party since Katsu's friends were going to help an hour or so before it started. I guess nobody was willing to give up sleeping in. But we pulled out all the decorations from the garage and started.

The house wasn't huge but it wasn't small either. We had started at 10:30 am but it was now 2 pm. We had decorated the outside with fake spider webs, coffins, and witches. We had decorated a part of the inside, it was decorated with more cobwebs and pumpkin-themed decorations. I took a few steps back, exhaling a relaxed breath being satisfied with our hard work. The party is supposed to start at 6 pm. Since it was already 2 pm, I decided to go with Kyllie back to her house to get ready. I had left my costume and stuff there so we can hang out and get dressed together.

Kyllie and I had been binging food till 5 pm. We finally started to get ready. I slipped off my sweater and put on the dress in my costume. I was planning to dress up as Nene Yashiro from Toilet-bound Hanako-kun. I enjoyed the series, and it kinda fit the spooky vie of Halloween. I fixed up my hair and used green hair chalk to dye the ends.
Kyllie on the other hand dressed up as an angel. She had a halo headband on her head, a white dress, and fluffy wings on her back. Her makeup was as dramatic as can be. We both popped on some chapstick before heading off to the party.

It was already sunset when we arrived. The dim outside lighting made the lights the guys out on pop. A majority of the invited guests had already arrived. The majority of the seniors were invited, a few juniors in the mix.
I saw Kyllie and Katsu walking around in their couples costumes. I also recognized a few people from my classes, but I never really talked to them. Now looking around some more, I didn't have any other friends. I let out a sigh. I walked over to the table filled with little snacks and drinks. There was punch, sodas, candies, bagged snacks, then Halloween treats that stood out from the bunch. They all looked tasty but I settled for some Pepsi then walked off into a corner where the number of people was thinner. I sipped on my drink in small intervals admiring the decoration and people.
I was alone until a guy approached me. I haven't seen him around during school. He was dressed up as some sort of magician. He gave me a small smile before speaking.
"What's a pretty lady doing by herself?" He said slightly seductively. He turned his head toward that crowd, which while he wasn't looking I rolled my eyes.
I stayed silent.
"Would you like to see a magic trick then?" He pulled out a set of cards. I shrugged my shoulders and agreed. He began shuffling the cards.
"Pick a card, any card." He spread out the cards faced down between his hands. I pulled the one from the 5th to last of the left side.
"Now take a good look at your card." He smiled. I studied my card, which was the queen of spades.
"Ok, now place your card back in." He opened up a space between the stretched-out cards. He collected them all to one deck then shuffled them dramatically.
"Close your eyes madam, as I find your card." he said politely. I obediently closed my eyes. I heard the cards shuffling and the loud noise of music and talking in the background. What caught me a bit off guard was the small plop noise, it sounded as if water was leaking. I only heard it once so I pushed it off.
"Open your eyes." And on command, I opened them. He held the queen of spades up to my face.
"Did I get it correct?" He asked confident and curious.
"Yes." I nodded my head up and down. He chuckled slightly.
"That was the first word you've spoken to me this entire time." He laughed.
'No shit Sherlock' is what I wanted to say but instead, I replied with, "Yea I guess so."
I was about to take another sip of my drink until I felt an arm occupy my shoulder, shaking me just enough to spill the drink on the guy dress as a magician.
"Ah, I'm so sorry!" I panicked a bit. I didn't have a napkin of some sort to offer.
"Ha, it's ok." He said smugly as he undid a few buttons of his shirt. Oh, yea that right, this guy seems like an ass.
I felt a hand occupy my other shoulder. I finally looked back. It was Haru and Samuel.
"Well, unfortunately, your shirt is drenched, but we should meet up with the rest of our group." Haru calmly stated as he led me in the opposite direction. I heard Samuel murmur a few things to the guy before we left.
Haru and I settled on a spot offset of the crowd. Samuel quickly caught up to us.
"So what was that about?" Samuel questioned.
"What do you mean? I should be the one asking you that." I countered.
"That was so careless. That dude slipped something into your drink!" Samuel yelled, just loud enough for only us to hear.
I processed the information I received. That makes a lot of sense. Why would someone approach me without introducing himself? He didn't even ask for my name or anything. And then that little splash I heard was him.
"Damn, now thinking about it you guys are right. He was even acting suspicious in the beginning, I just didn't realize it." I scratched my cheek as I mumbled, barely loud enough for them to hear.
"Stupid." Samuel huffed angrily as he ruffled my hair.
"Oi, love birds!" I heard someone call. I looked in the direction and there I see was Kyllie.
"Love the couples costumes." Kyllie giggled as one hand covered her mouth. I didn't even realize. Samuel was dressed as Hanako-kun from 'Toilet-bound Hanako-kun'. I was dressed as Yashiro, who was also from the same anime. I felt my face redden slightly, I didn't plan this at all. Then I looked at Haru.
"What are you suppose to be?" I scoffed.
"A detective." He said proudly crossing his arms. He was dressed in a white button-up with a tie. Overlapping it was a long brown coat. It seemed like a stretch but I wasn't going to question it.
"Well if you guys are done with your little bit of chit-chat, we have some games to play." She grabbed my hand and dragged me off, the boys following behind me.

We ended up partying the whole night. But to my surprise, the first thing I see in the news was the guy I saw at the party being arrested. He was being apprehended for drug use and sexual assault. I shuddered, I could've been one of his victims. Thankfully Haru and Samuel showed up before then, I really gotta thank them for that one.
