Chereads / Misfortune [SOM NEW] / Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

It was already May, back to warmer weather. The months flew by, but not without strange and unsettling things happening. From the time I've started the school year to now, there have been about 4 murders and 2 missing cases in the city. It was quite scary, especially since they've all been people that've had some type of contact with me. But I had to push away those thoughts, for now at least. It was currently May 6th, there were going to be exams next week, so I needed to get up, go to class, and study as much as could.

I stared at my ceiling for a few minutes before letting an irritated sigh out of my lungs. I got up then got ready like usual. After my quick breakfast, which being instant ramen, I left my apartment making sure I locked my door.

But there's was something I saw from the corner of my eye. I walked down the metallic stairs, making a clank after each step. I looked down, this timing seeing the familiar raven hair I see nearly daily.

"What are you doing here?" I asked walking a bit passed him.

"Is there a reason for wanting to walk with my bestie to school?" He retorted. I blinked blankly at his response.

"You are one lonely sack of potatoes, so much for being popular huh?" I replied, slightly swinging my arms back and forth as we walked. He let out a small chuckle at my remark.

We eventually made it to the gates of the school. I saw Haru propped up on a wall with a cup of coffee in his hand. He looked a bit more tired than usual. I approached him after I took a couple of steps his way he noticed me. He gave a small wave and smile.

"Yo, you good?" I asked with a hint of concern in my voice. I now heard Samuels footsteps stop behind me.

"Yea-." His answer getting interrupted by a loud yawn. I wasn't quite convinced with it the and my face displayed it.

"Ok, I'm just a bit tired. I had to get up extra early because I forgot to finish my homework." He finished, taking a long sip of his coffee.

"By the way, did you wanna go do the gown fitting together? They said they were doing it during elective classes." Haru asked.

"I mean I guess. It's not like I have anyone else to talk to, Kyllie is probably going to be busy talking to Katsu." I replied.

I felt someone staring a hole right into me, but when I looked back it was only Samuel. He looked calm and was listening attentively. When I faced forward again Haru's smile was no longer there, it was only replaced with a bland expression.

In all honestly, I was quite confused and stared blankly at the white wall Haru was leaning on.

"What are you looking at?" Samuel asked confused.

"What a nice wall..." I said emotionlessly. Haru and Samuel simultaneously stared at me with confusion, disappointment, and slight disgust all mixed into one. I was now nervously staring at the wall, sweating starting to collect on the temples of my forehead.

The bell ended up ringing and we all went to class.

Our teacher took attendance and we made our way towards the gymnasium, where they would measure us for our gowns. There were already a lot of students here. Through the crowd, I somehow managed to find Haru.

"Damn, you kinda short." Haru burst out laughing out of nowhere.

"Damn, and you kinda built like a whole ass fridge." I countered irritated. Haru looked at me. He lifted his index finger and opened his mouth as if he was about to say a comeback. But he closed his mouth and put down his hand.

"That's what a fucking thought." I glared at him before facing forward, flipping my hair back, hitting his face. I giggled.

"I'm just joking." I turned back facing Haru once again. He flicked my forehead before giggling as well. In response, I pinched him.

"Ah, fuck!" He yelled slightly loud. He whined a bit. I started cackling at the reaction. Haru join me and giggled.

We started talking as we always did. Time passed and we were at the front of the line. When we got measured they jotted down our heights and let us leave.

We went back to class and finished up school like any other day.

It was May 26th. Three days before graduation, my elective class was preparing floral arrangements for some of the areas of the ceremony. The school colors were gold and blue, so with that our assortments involved blue and yellow flowers. Yellow roses being the main flower, blue forget-me-nots, and irises between the empty gaps, and the sides being bordered with fern leaves. Our teacher was impressed with the class's work. We ended up finishing up the displays and leaving them in the cool room so they could be placed later.

We had rehearsals for graduation the next day, and the day after being our actual graduation. Kyllie and I had already picked up gorgeous dresses to go along with our gowns. I inhaled the fresh air of the garden before taking a long swig of my cold water. It was heating up nowadays.

The day ended with no actual work done in my classes.

It was finally graduation day. It felt just like yesterday I was barely accepted into a college I liked. Time flew by so fast. Even if unfortunate events sprouted here and there, I ended up having lots of fun this year.

Now I was in Kyllie's room getting ready for graduation. She chose out a red dress. It had floral patterns on the fabric and it stopped right below the knees. The sleeves hugged her shoulders. The dress's skirt was open at the front and a bow where the skirt and top piece met. Kyllie curled her hair to match the style.

On the other hand, I wore a navy blue dress. It was sleeveless, the skirt extended to my knees, and there was a bow that was attached right above where the skirt started. Kyllie and I intended to get dresses that had similarities to each other. I left my hair as it was.

We put on our gowns and caps before getting picked up by our ride.

Katsu picked both Kyllie and me from her house. Her parents were at work, which is why we caught a ride with Katsu. She did say her parents would make it to the graduation before it started though. Unfortunately, my aunt was unable to get off work to come to the graduation. I sighed leaving the subject in my head be.

Kyllie and Katsu were talking and cracking jokes. I joined at the moment and we all laughed on our way there.
