About 3 minutes later

A loud thud could be heard down the once quiet halls. I could hear an inaudible call following. Minutes later frantic and heavy steps approached the infirmary. The door slid open with a loud bang.
"Ms.Choi!" An out of breathing Samuel called. Ms.Choi was startled and looked at Samuel. She observed him for a few seconds before standing up.
" What's wrong?" Ms.Choi asked, now concerned. What's wrong, those words had me up in an instant looking at the two. Samuel, the boy who looked to be in perfect condition just a few minutes ago was now looking distraught. He was sweating, his breaths heavy, and his previously perfect bangs now clumped together. What in the world caused this?
"No..time....to...explain." Samuel said still catching his breath. "Please call... an ambulance..." his words pausing after each other, only slightly stuttering. Ms.Choi memorizing eyes widened and filled with worry. Her hand zoomed towards the phone. The next thing I knew was that she was already speaking to the operator on the other side of the phone. As Ms.Choi talked to the operator, she took a deep breath. Her worried filled eyes softened and grew calmer. She motioned Samuel towards a chair, most likely to let him relax and catch his breath.
The rest of the time in the infirmary went in a blink of an eye for me. The rest of what happened in the infirmary was hazy, but I did know I was nervous the whole time.

The school was shut down for a week. It was later revealed to the public that a student had fallen down the stairs, but that wasn't all. The student fell head first, causing their head to bust open. Apparently, the student died from an enormous amount of blood loss.
After the ambulance took the student away, the police arrived and postponed any of the staff and students from leaving. They thought it was unusual for a student to receive this type of injury at a school, so they did a small investigation. They mainly asked questions and interrogated students who knew the student or were around the body. This resulted in groups of students getting questioned, including Samuel and I.
Samuel was the first to get questioned since he was the one who reported the body. From the statement Samuel gave, nobody was around the student. From his side of the story, the student just fell on his own, and Samuel tried to reach and call out to him but was unfortunately too late. It was also noted that Samuel came to the infirmary where Ms.Choi and I were at the time. This resulted in me getting bombarded with questions different from the other students. They had asked things such as;
"Where were you before this took place?" Which I responded was, "the infirmary".
"Do you recognize this student?"
My answer would've been no, but I analyzed the photo they had shown me. I realized it was the jerk I ran into before detention. So in this case, I had to respond with "yes".
Many of these questions had been asked until they were finally done and let me go.

Just to think all of that happened on my first day. But it was now Monday of the new week. Now with the investigation over, the police concluded how it was an accident. We were now resuming school. We were notified that there would be a small assembly to honor the loss of the student. The student may have been a jerk to me, but I don't believe that's something someone should be punished like this for.
I made it to the iron gates of the school, but to my surprise, a familiar face was waiting at the gate. It was Samuel. His appearance was the same as I first met him. When he noticed me, he flashed a pearly white smile my way. I couldn't help but return a smile. It was a bit awkward since we both only knew each other for an hour's worth, but we started silently walking to the assembly together. But there was one thing, multiple females were staring right at us. They stared a kept talking, Samuel and I's silence not broken yet. All until a girl started walking up to us.
She had clean white jeans, a yellow top, straightened hair, and what I consider flashy makeup on. She was fairly pretty. It seemed she didn't even acknowledge my existence, because her eyes were just focused on Samuel.
"Hey Samuel-" she was cut off.
"Hey, babe." Samuel turned to me, "I think we might be late to the assembly, let's hurry up". He said slyly while showing a warm smile. He gripped my wrist, and before I knew it I was gone from that girl's view.
I could hear the whispers of the other girls who were previously staring at us.
"Oh I didn't know he was taken." one girl whispered.
"Me either, I thought he was single the whole time." the girl whispered in response.
What in the hell was this "babe" shit? And why the hell is my face all red like this? Am I that embarrassed by people staring?

The assembly took less than 10 minutes. Half of it was spent to get everyone settled down. A quarter was spent on a short speech, then the final few minutes were taken as a moment of silence. After it was done Samuel and I walked towards the main halls.
"So are you not going to tell me what that babe shit was about earlier or am I getting left in the dark." I started.
"Oh, well girls keep approaching me. So I took my best opportunity to get them to leave me alone." He said joyfully.
"So you used me to fix your problem?" I sighed.
"Exactly, see you get it." He replied.
Well, that's just lovely. Now it feels like I have a big target on my back with the girls. I let out a hmph. When the hall was mainly cleared of students, Samuel unexpectedly grabbed me by my chin.
"What's the big deal? Am I not up to your expectations?" He said slyly while pulling his face closer to mine. I felt a blush creep onto my face. But it didn't stop there, his face moved to the side toward my ear. Before he could let out a single peep, my nose started leaking a crimson liquid.
"Oh ahaha, this doesn't look too good. I should go see Ms.Choi before class starts!" I exclaimed as I pushed Samuel out of my comfort zone. I ran the opposite way, up the stairs, to Ms.Choi's office. I only pick up a few tissues to stop the bleeding for a bit before going to my first class.
