Chapter 7 - Chapter Six.

Warning: guns, blood, foul language.

Just as Daechul came back from his visit to Kimoon's, his little brother was on him the second he entered the house.

"Daechulie!", the guy didn't bother to contain his joy.

"Hi, Jihyunie, how are you, brat?", Daechul chuckled when the said boy punched him in the arm.

"I'm not a brat", he pouted childishly.

"Okay, whatever", laughed the man and suddenly his laughter died down. "So, tell me, how did your date go?"

Jihyun paled and took a step back.

"Did mom tell you even though I clearly asked her not to?", he frowned.

"You know her", Daechul shrugged his shoulders, and softened upon seeing his younger brother's reaction. "I'm not mad at you, Jihyunie. It's your life. I won't stop you from dating someone".

Jihyun smiled and hugged his brother again. "Thanks, Chulie. You don't need to worry. He was really sweet, took me to a posh restaurant, and we talked all night. I liked it."

Daechul sighed.

"So that's why you bought the costume".

Jihyun's frown returned.

"Mom told you about that too?! Mom!", the boy left his brother and ran up the stairs to scold his talkative mother.

That night, when the dinner was eaten by the whole family, and each member was deeply asleep, the silence was broken by a set of gunshots that echoed through the spacious mansion.

Daechul abruptly woke up, his heart was racing. He blindly turned on the light, jumped into his pants and found his gun in just a couple of seconds.

Just as he was going to investigate, his phone rang. But he didn't have time to answer the call. Another gunshot was fired. This one was louder, so it seemed that the antagonists were even closer. Daechul briefly wondered how the security let them in.

He ran out of his room to find his family. To his relief, all five of them were hiding in the master bedroom. Maya was shakily talking with someone on the phone, asking for help. He assumed it was Eunsang.

The girls were in Jihyun's arms, and Siwon was pacing the room. As Daechul burst through the door, panting, they all turned to him. Daechul was fast to hide his gun from the eyes of his siblings.

"Are you all okay? No one's hurt?"

Siwon was the only one that reacted to his stepson's question, stopping in his tracks and shaking his head. Daechul could tell that he was quite shaken, not used to this kind of situation.

He only nodded and stepped into the hall, closing the door after himself. With his gun held steadily, the man silently climbed down the stairs to make sure that the shooters were nowhere in sight.

After a good few minutes Daechul concluded a few things: the windows in the living room will need to be repaired, the shooters were long gone, and the security was all out cold.

He came back looking for his phone just as the screeching of the car tires could be heard. Two black Range Rovers urgently drove through the open gates and parked messily in front of the house. Peeking through his window Daechul saw Kimoon's and Eunsang's figures stepping out of the cars and immediately heading inside.

Daechul fished his phone and headed downstairs again.

"What the fuck was that?!", Eunsang looked like he was half asleep, with his bleary eyes and groggy voice. Daechul wondered how he managed to drive here safely.

Daechul was fuming after the seriousness of the situation sank in.

"The hell I know! Those bastards injured our security, scared my family to death and left. I don't understand what they needed".

"Did you happen to see them? How many people were there, their car, anything?", asked Kimoon.

"No, the shooting woke me up and I immediately ran to check if everyone was alright. When I went downstairs they were long gone."

Just then Daechul's phone rang again. Sunmi.

"Daechul why the hell did you not pick up when I rang you earlier?", she sounded frantic.

"Someone ambushed my house", were his only words. Eunsang and Kimoon met eyes briefly.

"Fuck! I was too late. Daechul, I called you to tell you that they know. They know that Sungwoon has a son that leads the Hyun mafia. They wanted to be first and scare you."

"Who? Who the hell are they?!", he was frantic too.

Sunmi breathed out.

"Sungwoon's killer."

The morning sun was shyly seeping out of the thick clouds, but the Go mansion was bustling with life. Daechul was directing his men to enclose the perimeter, while the family hastily packed their belongings.

Kimoon and Eunsang were silently observing their boss' leadership, and quietly talking. They still couldn't wrap their heads around the idea that Sungwoon's killer made an appearance after so many years, and was determined to kill Daechul too. Only his identity wasn't known yet.

Knowing that his family was in high danger, Daechul decided to drive them somewhere safer, and leave the house for his gang to temporarily occupy, in hopes that the killer will appear again.

The safest option for evacuation seemed to be a family friend house, not some shady hotel. That's why Kimoon offered Daechul's family a place to stay. Won house was as big as Go's, so the family will still be able to live comfortably, without feeling too out of place.

"Shit, I have to call my dad and let him know about my guests", noted Kimoon and took out his phone. Eunsang chuckled. Kimoon was always a forgetful one.

"Are you sure he won't get upset about the whole situation? I mean, Doyun likes his calm and quiet," noted Eunsang.

Kimoon shook his head.

"Daechul is like a son to him. They were really close after Sungwoon's death. He will be happy to help," he assured. Eunsang smiled and nodded. Kimoon rang his father.

"Hey, dad. Yeah, everything's alright for now. I have to ask you something though".
