Chapter 6 - Unknown Intentions

Five years ago. There was a break-in at the capital historical archives by a lone assailant. Iegor at the time had official business at the capital engaged the intruder but was not able to capture him. Because of this, the intruder was able to make off with an old Elvish scroll. The contents of the scroll were unknown. It was written in Elvish, no one at the capital knew how to translate it, Nor how it came into Canaar possession.

No one knew what the intruder wanted with the scroll, Or who they were. But Iegor was bent on finding out, More so because he knew who the intruder was. For when he crosses blades with the intruder. He recognized his form. There was only one man who used that form. After so many Sparring matches he did with him how could he not? It was Augustus. Of course, he denied ever having any involvement in the incident, but Iegor knew full well it was him and since then Kept a watchful eye upon Augustus.

The sun had set and in its place high above the night sky, an emerald moon lit the path for Iegor and his troops to make their way. It was a week's journey to the capital, setting camp was ill advice at their current position. Iegor took a path that was common to his mind. He led them through the quickest point possible, through an old Goblin's settlement within a rocky valley filled with dark damp caves.

The Goblins were blood trusty scavengers, known for attacking in drones, but It's been a hundred years since anyone has seen any sign of them. Iegor had used this path many times before without fault. It was the soul reason had confidences that it would be safe, and also he knew it would be the quickest route to their destination. Yet it didn't stop him from making sure they would be. Iegor and his Generals along with their appointed sentry Pyanna were on high alert at the head, Draco and his fellow Dragons followed high above while Fyeon and pack brought up the rear. They were prepared for all and anything that may follow from any directions.

" Pyanna! I think it's time you tell us what the good Lord Commander has been up to " Iegor uttered.

" To tell you the truth I am not sure what to make of his actions of late Iegor " Pyanna replied, " several times he has been missing, gone for days on end without a word, then reappearing as if nothing has happened ".

" We're in the middle of a war, and he just leaves whenever he feels like it ", Eric quickly replied with a disapproving tone.

" Most peculiar. Do you know where he goes Pyanna " Iegor replied?

" Sadly no. I have tried trailing him, but somehow he always eludes me. What's also strange is, not even my all-seeing eyes can show me his intentions " Pyanna replied.

" IMPOSSIBLE SISTER. NOTHING CAN ESCAPE YOUR GAZE!! ", Peirrim Replied angered by the notion.

" It's True little brother. I thought I was losing my power; To confirm this I tried it on a few of the soldiers ", Pyanna replied.

" And we're you able to see? " Iegor replied.

" Yes my vision showed me all they held in their hearts, but when I tried on the Commander, I saw nothing ". Pyanna replied.

" Nothing doesn't sound too bad " Eric replied feeling relieved by her words.

" Husband. You miss understood my words" Pyanna replied.

" I couldn't see anything, not his soul, not his heart, not even what his future holds. It's as if there is a veil that cloaks him from my sight ". Pyanna replied.

" Hmmm. Seems Augustus has learned a new trick " Iegor replied.

" But what? What can be so powerful that it can dwarf my sister's gaze " Peirrim replied?

" Yes, that is a conundrum indeed " Iegor replied, as he let the thought roll around in his head for an answer to form.

" But our recent discovery has even more need for concern ", Pyanna replied with a Grim tone.

Pyanna was a child of chaos. She has seen and done unspeakable things even before she began fighting in the war. There weren't many things that could stir her, but her recent findings truly sturred her Stanstrum blood.

" Are you ok Pyanna" Iegor uttered. Trying to find the reason for her silence.

" Yes. I am " Pyanna quickly replied, " Iegor we went beyond Feiix borders ".

" A siege? " Iegor replied with a raised eyebrow.

" I thought it was at first " Pyanna replied.

Pyanna regained her self and relayed the events that proceeded in the last couple of days.

East they match. Deep behind the enemy's line, but Commander Augustus didn't lead his troops to any Feiix cities or strongholds. Instead, they match far east to a majestic forest filled with monstrous trees.

Deep within the forest, they found an old Elvish city age by time. Several of the structures were built high in the trees, accessible by bridges made from wood and vines. Throughout the city, there were water canals fed by a waterfall far in the distance of the city. At the entrance to the city, Stood two bow drawn elf warrior statues.

Augustus led his troops through the gates, Once inside even after many years had passed they could see the inhabitants had left in a hurry. All around they saw several baskets on the ground along with broken pottery.

Upon examining one of the houses they found a table was fully prepared. The food had long been gone. Faded away by the age of time, but it was clear a family was preparing to have a feast before whatever transpired there.

Further in the city, they went, till they came to the center of the city. There they found a rock the size of a small house. Embedded in the rock was a blue orb. Above the orb was a strange symbol of three triangles meeting at one point in a circle.

It wasn't the first time they had seen the symbol. It was carved above every structure's doorway, even around the statues had it around their necks. Whatever this symbol was it was obvious that it held a significant amount of importance to the people that lived there. Fyeon had made his way to the front and gave an unnoticeable response when he heard about the symbol as if he knew what it was. Pyanna was about to relay the rest of her tale when they were interrupted by Fyeon.

" Iegor!, Where being watched ", Fyeon uttered, Keeping his eyes fixed upon the caves above them.

Iegor looks up to Draco and saw he and his fellow Dragons were preparing themselves for an attack. He turned back to the cliffs in time to see several figures moving in the shadows.

" Pyanna what do you see? " Iegor replied, Still scanning to see their new foe.

As soon as Pyanna used her vision. She was met with a sight that forcing her to grip her reigns even tighter.

" I don't know what they are Iegor " Pyanna replied, " But there are hundreds of them and they're all around us ".

" I know what they are " Fyeon snarled " It's been many years since their stench has graced my nose, but I know them all too well ".

" What are they Fyeon? ", Iegor replied, Trying to find out what's his friend's meaning.

Fyeon turned to Iegor and uttered one simple word.

" Goblins ".
