The temperature had dropped by the setting of the evening sun, even more so within the valley. Making steel cold as ice upon flesh. Visibility was difficult, slightly improved with the lighting of a few torches. The pathway was large enough for the company to make way, but they were vulnerable to an ambush. Regrettably... that was exactly what was about to befall the company.
" Impossible! No one has seen a Goblin in over three hundred years " Eric uttered, completely taken by Fyeon's word.
" So what do you call that, Coward ". Fyeon snarled.
At that moment hundreds of creatures were moving in the shadows, began crawling out from the caves and over the valley walls.
" We have taken this path a dozen times, and we have never encountered one. This can't be right " Eric uttered in disbelief.
Just then as Eric argued upon what was happening. Two shadows leaped at him with a mad screech but were cut short inches from him by Pyanna's arrow. Impaling them and upon another on the wall next to Eric.
" Shall I give you my eyes for you to see the truth in front of you my husband " Pyanna uttered, angered by Eric's ignorance?
Eric using a torch to examed the new victim of his wife's bow, and found three green creatures with long point ears and a long wart cover nose. The three were no bigger than a small child, wearing nothing but raggedy loincloths.
" They may be small, but they have the strength of a full-grown man " Fyeon uttered.
" Peirim go warn the troops, get them ready " Iegor ordered, as he turned his sights back
to the oncoming threat.
Peirim race down the line shouting his Lords Command, assuring all heard them loud and clear
" !! PREPARED FOR BATTLE !! ".
The Flaming Claw company wasted no time. The sound of steel rattled through their ranks as they prepared themselves. The Archers drew their bows, warriors unsheathed their swords, and readying their shields, as the Battle Mages ready their spells to unleash their fury upon their foe.
" It's a shame the Berserk King can't join us " Fyeon uttered looking upon Peirim as he races down the line " His power would be more than useful in this fight ".
Peirim's birth was a strange one, it also took the life of mother Lady Titana; Conceived in the dead of night. He was born with a small and fragile body and was believed to possess no magical abilities. Having such a fragile body. It was said he could never become a skilled warrior. It was uncommon to the Stanstrum family line. His Father Reygard Rygamor Stanstrum head of the family. Ordered that he be cast out to spare further shame to the family line. Pyanna fifty at the time; Saw her brother, not through her god's eye, But the eyes of a sister. She could not allow her newborn brother to be thrown out, with a firm hand she declared to her father. If Peirim was to be cast out. Then so must she be as well.
This angered Raygard, his word was law in the Stanstrum family, but he knew if he was to cast out the Pyanna the Gods Eyes. It would bring even greater shame to the family, but nevertheless, he hated being defiled. So he ordered she would be fully responsible for Peirim. Pyanna didn't mind one bit for t her father's declaration. Only her brother's safety mattered to her.
The following morning with the rise of the sun. There was a light coming from Peirrim's room. Pyanna went to find the cause of the light, and when she entered the room she saw Peirim no longer had such a fragile body. He was now a healthy baby boy and was glowing with a light much like the Sun. Pyanna used her God's Eye. It showed her what true power her brother held.
Peirim was born with the ability to draw power from the sun giving him endless strength. There one drawback. Once the sun was not visible in the sky this power would be gone.
As time went on Peirim grew and with every rising sun so did his power. His body became invisible no forged weapon or magical ability could cause him harm. His strength was that of a God, by Age ten he had the strength of a hundred men. At age Fifty he held the strength of a thousand, and at age twenty he held the strength of ten thousand.
Many feared his power, and for good reason. Besides his boundless strength. He also held a terrible raged that was only kept in check by Pyanna. Still whenever she left on a mission. Keeping Peirim's fury contained became a difficult task. Resulting in much destruction.
A beast, monster, a berserker is what they called him. The people Canaar saw him as nothing but a plague they wanted gone, but all that changed when Peirrim met Iegor. He didn't see a monster or beast. He a man. A man without a purpose. He saw Peirrim as what he could be, a true sword for the people of Canaar.
Iegor extended to Peirrim the offer to become his General. Peirrim held no means to channel his rage. No purpose for his power. Now Iegor had given him one. To defend the people of Canaar. Peirrim held no trust for the people who had shown him so much, yet on that day he decided to trust a man he had just met and took Iegor's offer and became his General.
For the next five years, Peirim fought side by side with his fellow comrades of the Flaming Claw Company, holding true to his purpose. Within that time he was able to master his rage using it to his advantage to protect his company. Gaining their respect, and the name Beserk King. A name he held proudly.
" Peirrim is a substantial warrior even without his powers, Pyanna made sure of that " Iegor replied, " And besides, We wouldn't need his power for the likes of them ".
" It's not these creatures am worried about. They're just the lesser breed " Fyeon uttered, " They have shamans who wield powerful dark magic. Then there's the Brutes, they are twice the size of a full-grown man with the strength of a hundred".
" Hmmm. Sounds troublesome " Iegor replied. Preparing himself for the oncoming attack.
" Yes, but the most dangerous of the lot all is their King The Dark Goblin " Fyeon snarled. " He is as big as Brute with the strength to match, and wields the same deadly magic as the shaman ".
" You speak as if you know him first hand " Iegor replied.
" We have clash claw to steel several times. In our last meeting, I claimed his left arm as my prizes, but not before he claimed six of my own " Fyeon replied, Saddened by his own words.
" He sounds troublesome. Let's hope we don't encounter him here " Iegor replied.
" Then you should pray to your Gods he succumbs to his wounds long ago " Fyeon replied.
