Licht had heard the brief conversation between Ains and the spy. Though he barely got any information from them, he at least knew what to do now at the very least.
Licht took a shower and dressed before going down for breakfast, his usual routine. Though today, he was going to convince his father to let him skip his daily training. Licht had planned to converse with the various servants of the house, that way he may be lucky enough to catch the snoop red-handed.
Licht took a bite out of his breakfast and saw the very same notification he seen once before. Although this time, the poison had been extra dense. Licht sneakily purified all the food on the table as an extra precaution and continued with his breakfast.
"Oh, Licht! I just remembered something!" Lyra called out as she wiped her lips with a piece of expensive-looking cloth. Licht looked at her with a blank stare, but Lyra wasn't fazed. To her, this seemed normal.
"Remember the day we found you collapsed? Well, the kind man who found you earlier brought an egg with him and said you were clutching it as if your life depended on it."
"Oh. Yeah, I remember that." Licht said as he had a quick flashback of the event. Lyra nodded her head slowly as she continued, "Yeah that. Believe it or not, the cooks tried to make a meal of it but the thing wouldn't budge. And since you brought it here, I wanted to ask the reason of you."
Licht looked back at his meal, "Oh. I found it in a nest in the forest." He lied, aware of his mother's questioning eyes. Lyra gasped, "Is that why you came back home in blood and unconscious? Did you get cursed?"
"Dunno. I guess." Licht answered nonchalantly, technically he wasn't wrong. It's not like he was human anymore.
Though Lyra didn't like his response. "Young man, don't you dare joke about that," Lyra commanded with her eyes frantic and her fists clenching on her eating utensils. "Now tell me, were you or were you not cursed?"
Licht coolly drops his fork, "Mother, nothing happened after I picked the egg. At least I don't remember anything afterward. All I know is that the egg is special to me and I would like to have it back."
Awkward silence laid dense in the air. Everyone looked at Licht, surprised. This had been the most Licht has said in all his years to either one of them. Lyra pouted and turned away from the table, "Hmph. I just wanted to know. That's all."
Licht could see how upset his mother was despite her claims and picked his fork again. "I'm sorry mother."
Licht continued with his breakfast silently, and so did everyone else. Lyra gave a small smile, her negative thoughts on how Licht hated her decreased. She could tell that he loved her, in his own apathetic way.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyra gave Licht an 'off' day. She had temporarily halted the hourly check-up procedure and allowed Licht to go out and do whatever the hell he does. Licht had been confused but decided not to question it but accept before she changes her mind.
Nostalgia. That word randomly appeared in his head. Indeed, he felt nostalgic but he didn't think much of it. He needed a safe place without any wandering eyes to hatch the egg. Licht walked into the cave where he first met Draywein and dropped the egg at a corner. Using his [Fire Magic] skill, he lights a small flame next to the egg and waited.
"The damn egg better hatch. I only have a few hours to waste." He mutters under his breath.
Licht laid on the floor, blankly staring at the ceiling. This had been normal for him in his former life, his mind blank akin to meditation.
[Mana breathing skill has been acquired]
Licht is disrupted from his meditation with a message on the system. Licht unconsciously asked the system for information. This was the only chance that he would get, after now, he would no longer have access to information about his skill.
[Mana Breathing]
During meditation, user will be able to regenerate his mana as well as increase his mana pool. Meditation time would be reduced the more experience the user gains.
Effect 1: Mana regeneration increases by 10% per minute.
Effect 2: [Fluid Mana] skill is temporarily acquired when a semi-meditation state is activated.
Licht felt satisfied with what he saw and activated the [Mana breathing] skill. After activating the skill for an hour and a half, Licht heard a crack. He turned towards the source of the sound and saw a crack proportional to the sound made. He stared at the egg as it continued to shake and crack until it broke in a flash of purple light.
A slimy looking lizard emerges from the light and grows rapidly to the size of a small puppy. Its graceful wings grow, starting from just below its shoulders and ends at the lower end of its back. The wings it grew were rounded, a specialized layer of dark-toned skin that made up most of the wings, and jagged edges at the bottom almost gave it a feathered look. Its enormous sapphire eyes, somewhat bigger than its body, sat rooted within the creature's horned skull, which gave the creature a slightly intimidating-looking appearance. Its small horns sat atop its head, just above its thin, warped ears. A row of crystal growths ran down the sides of each of its jawlines.
Though its appearance would cause some jaw drops, Licht looked at it unimpressed. He looked at the creature's status and smiled cynically.
