Chereads / Zeus Changed My Fate / Chapter 56 - The Infirmary.

Chapter 56 - The Infirmary.

As Trinity rushed to Sarah's side, people were startled. They were still in shock of her collapsing. Trinity knelled onto the floor. "Sarah!" She cried. Tears streaming down her face silently. She pressed her head against Sarah's chest, checking for a heart beat. When she heard one, she breathed a sigh of relief. She hovered her two fingers in front of Sarah's nose to see if she was breathing. Although she may have had a heart beat, there was a possibility that she had passed out because she could no longer breath. When she felt her steady breath, she placed her forehead on Sarah's stomach.

"Why am I so scared? Why do I feel so frightened? I don't even know the first thing about you. I don't even know your last name. So, why do I care so much about you?" Trinity whispered to herself.

As she felt Sarah slightly move, she sat straight up and stared at Sarah's face expectantly, hoping for any sign that she was regaining consciousness.

Sarah's lashes fluttered. Her eyes opened slowly. She felt weak. Her limbs were heavy and she was sweating. Her blood seemed to be working overtime. Somehow, although she couldn't explain it, she could feel the blood moving through every vein in her body. She felt it all rushing to her head. She groaned.

Then, she passed out again.

-

Sarah was in so much pain. She felt like her bones had broken apart and then put back together. She had a massive headache and was extremely hot. She tried to get off of the surface that she was on but could not move her legs so she could only manage to sit up. She looked around. She seemed to be in an infirmary of some sort. It reminded her of a hospital. All the clean white surfaces. The shiny silver things sitting on the counters. She looked over to see why she could not stand and noticed that her ankles were chained onto the bed.

She reached over to take the chains off but only ended up with the sound of metal connecting. Although her hands were not directly chained to the table so she could not move them an inch like her feet were, her hands were also chained. Her hands looked like they had egg shaped cups covering them, they were connected by solid, metal chains.

"WHO PUT ME IN CHAINS!" Sarah yelled in anger. She had a headache, she was hot, she was in pain, and to top it all off, she was chained to a table.

-

Outside the infirmary, Jake Roo sat on a table, reading the mortal newspaper with his legs crossed and sighed. "I told them that we should have made the infirmary soundproof too. But nooo. We need to be able to hear the patient if they need something."

-

The door opened. Sarah looked up, her eyes were as red as rubies. The color of rage, love and, well, for Sarah, mostly rage.

"WHO PUT ME IN CHAINS!" Sarah yelled again.

"Calm down Sarah. We put you in chains cause you almost broke Alex's arm as you fought with him to stay still." Jake told her.

"I'm sure he deserved it!" Sarah defended herself.

"He was taking you here to see why you passed out. He didn't deserve it." Jake said pointedly.

"Not the point!" Sarah quickly changed the subject. She was right, she was just running out of valid points to defend herself with… "The- The point is, that I am in chains. Take me out of them!"

"No." Jake said.

"At least undo the chains covering my hands! I have an itch on my leg and I can't scratch it!" Sarah whined. She didn't really have an itch, she just knew that she could figure out a way to get the chains off her ankles once her hands were uncovered. Unfortunately, Jake also knew it.

"No." He replied again.

"Why!" Sarah demanded.

"Cause without those fireproof coverings, you would set the place on fire."

"On fire? Why do you mean?"

"Your hands are on fire."

Sarah looked down at her hands. On fire? How could they be on fir- oh. They were on fire. You could see the red glow coming from between where the covering and her wrist met.

Well that's easy. Just gimme my gloves. I took them off when I went to beat up Alex cause he was being a complete jerk. They should be on the floor near the rock wall."

"Gloves? Wouldn't they become set on fire too?" Jake asked curiously.

"No, they are fireproof."

"Fireproof? Why in the world would you own a fire proof pair of gloves?"

"Max's mom."

"Max's mom?"

"She's a princess." Sarah said flatly. As if Jenny being a princess explained why she had fireproof gloves.

"Uh… ok then…" Jake said. "I'll go and get those gloves…" He turned around and walked out the door.

Sarah moaned. Her body hurt so bad. Everything, from the raging headache to her ones to her hands constantly being on fire. She was still mad that they put her in chains tho.

A few moments later, Jake returned with the silk gloves in tow. He undid the chains to Sarah's wrists and took off the fireproof egg-shaped hand covers. Immediately, the room became hot. Jake covered the air around him in ice crystals that only stayed as ice crystals for a moment before they turned into boiling water and eventually evaporated. He kept repeating this process until Sarah had successfully put on both gloves.

"Hey Sarah?" Can I ask you a few questions?" Jake asked cautiously. Sarah still looked mad that she had been put into chains.

"Sure Jake. But on one condition." Sarah replied.

"Sure, what is it?"

The area around them seemed to rise a degree. "Take. The. Chains. Off. Me." She said through her teeth.

Suddenly, Jake remembered that Sarah was still chained by her feet to the table. "After you answer my questions." Jake said.

"Fine. Just hurry up. I'm pretty sure that I am losing the ability to feel anything in my toes." Sarah complained.
