"Get the dagger."
"Terrance, if you don't stop saying 'get the dagger' once I get my hands on it, I will be shoving it so far up your gut…"
Terrance smirked, "Get the dagger."
"Ughh!" Sarah said angrily. "How am I supposed to do that?! It's all the way over there!"
"Reach." Terrance said simply, adding a shrug to show a look of indifference. Although he looked unconcerned, he was actually quite excited to see if his guess had been correct.
"Reach…?" Sarah mumbled to herself. Reach for it? Even if reached as far as she could, she would never be able to even let her fingers graze against the blade. But, she tried anyway. She stretched her arms out as far as she could. Extending her fingertips. She was only about two feet away from the table but there was no way possible for her to move, and no way possible for her to make up that distance with anything she had in her Iris bag either. Unless… What she needed was not inside her Iris bag… But outside.
Sarah stopped reaching. She stood up straight and began to unbuckle her belt. The others looked at her curiously, they had no idea what she was trying to do. She was nearly finished taking her belt all the way off when she had to unloop her Iris bag. After taking that off, she was able to fully take off her belt. She began to tie the Iris bag's drawstring onto the very end of her belt. When she was done, it looked like she was holding a whip with a bag on the end. Or rather, it looked like a weird ball and chain that one would use in battle.
She threw the 'whip' over her right shoulder. She studied the knife. It was nearly two feet away from her and slightly to the right. She raised her elbow slightly, then whipped her arm forward quickly. The makeshift weapon landed with a crash on top of the knife. She quickly pulled the weapon off the table, towards her. The dagger came towards her, it hit the floor and started to slide. After a moment, it stopped. Right at her feet.
She picked up the dagger and pretended to study it for a moment, then held it up with the plade between her thumb and forefinger. "So, what do you think? What your guess right?"
After a moment's hesitation, Terrance's face got the same shade of red that Jake's had. Just like before, there was a laugh. She turned around and Jake was pointing his fingers at him. "Haha! You- you got so cocky! Haha! Ha ha haha! You didn't do any better than me!"
Sarah's head spun. He failed too? What were they trying to get her to do? They kept on saying and doing the same things; laughing, being embarrassed, failing, expecting her to do something.
"What did I do wrong?" Sarah asked, she didn't know why, but she was on the verge of tears, she felt like she had let her superiors down.
"Oh, Sarah. You didn't do anything wrong!" Jake said after he finally calmed down. "It's just that we were expecting you to do something different. Instead, you were resourceful and got something out of nothing. That's even better than what we had wanted to see. It's not good to only rely on your powers because there are ways to make them go away, plus there is always somebody who is more powerful than you, somebody who has the things to be able to take you down, even with your powers. Being able to come up with that on the spot was impressive. Well done."
Sarah's cheeks turned a shade rosier at the praise, "Thank you Jake, but what was it that you were trying to get me to do?" she asked curiously.
"Will the weapon." Terrance cut in.
"Will the weapon? What's that?" Sarah asked.
"To will the weapon means to be able to control a weapon. Bring it to you, stop it while it's in motion, change it's direction, have it fight for you when it's far away, those kinds of things." Jake replied.
"Why would you think that I could do that?" Sarah questioned.
"Well, that would be because we both believe that you are a daughter of Ares."
Ares… Sarah had read on him when they had been looking through the Iris cards… what was it? Oh yes! Sarah remembered.
Ares; Olympian.
Symbols- Spear, helmet, dog, vulture
Parents- Zeus and Hera
Powers- Godly strength, Superhuman speed and stamina, Complete command over any weapon, Energy Projection, Necromancy, Weather manipulation.
Although this had given much information about the god, it never really stated what he was the god of. So, she asked Jake. Jake responded back with; "He has the title of god of war."
God of war… god of war… Sarah didn't know if she should feel happy because they were close to finding out who her dad was, they had a pretty good guess too. Or maybe she should feel scared that she had the blood of a war god running through her veins. But, a god of war as a father? That was… kinda cool!
Sarah smiled and nodded her head excitedly, "God of war? Cool!" She had a huge smile on her face.
Jake looked at her astonished. Most of the time, when Demigods find out that Ares was their father, they would become upset. Who wants a bloodthirsty war god as their father? Nobody, or mostly nobody, because Sarah sure did! Who cares if their father was bloodthirsty? Ares had cool powers! Things like Will of the Weapon, superhuman speed, he was strong, he could change the weather. He also had the powers of Necromancy and energy projection, but Sarah had no idea what that was.
"Hey Jake, what's energy projection and Necromancy?" Sarah asked.
"Energy projection is where you can give people your energy. Very powerful gods like Ares use it for battles, supplying energy to their comrades in times of need. Necromancy is where you can speak to the dead, mostly used to predict the future or learn about the past." Jake replied.
