Jake looked at her astonished. Most of the time, when Demigods find out that Ares was their father, they would become upset. Who wants a bloodthirsty war god as their father? Nobody, or mostly nobody, but Sarah sure did! Who cares if their father was bloodthirsty? Ares had cool powers! Things like Will of the Weapon, superhuman speed, he was strong, he could change the weather. He also had the powers of Necromancy and energy projection, but Sarah had no idea what that was.
"Hey Jake, what's energy projection and Necromancy?" Sarah asked.
"Energy projection is where you can give people your energy. Very powerful gods like Ares use it for battles, supplying energy to their comrades in times of need. Necromancy is where you can speak to the dead, mostly used to predict the future or learn about the past." Jake replied.
...
...Talk to the dead? Does that mean that she would be able to talk to the dead too? But, before she could think about it any further, Jake said "Although Ares is able to talk to the dead, there have been very few cases of his half-blood children also being able to do so."
Oh. I guess I won't be able to talk to the dead then, Sarah thought.
"Well then, how do we see if Ares is my father?' Sarah asked.
"What we are going to try to do will be hard to explain." Jake said as he walked over and placed the dagger near the table and on the floor. "According to the other children of Ares, you should be able to feel the presence of metals. If I were to hide this dagger somewhere around the room, you should be able to 'feel' where I put it. I want you to reach your hand out and try to sense the dagger."
Sarah nodded her head and stretched her hand out. She extended her finger tips towards the direction of the dagger. She imagined what metal would feel like. Hard, cold, sharp. She could feel it. Coming from near the table. She could feel it coming from around the room too. She could feel it in the screws in the table. She could feel the metal door knobs. She could feel the metal buckle of her belt. She could feel…. Ouch.
Sarah flew backwards, sliding a few feet before coming to a stop. Everybody just looked over at her with wide eyes for a moment until they rushed over to her if she was ok. Sarah just sat there on her but, looking at the place where the table had once stood, then looking at her hand, that was stuck to a metal bar under the table.
…
…
The flames on her palms had gone out as she was trying to use the Will of the Weapon. But now, she had a bigger problem. Her hand was stuck to a table. No matter how hard she pulled, she was unable to disconnect her hand. She was in an awkward position, half under the table, half standing up trying to pull her hand off when Jake told her "Sarah, just lay down under the table for now while I make a call. I know a very powerful half-blood of Ares, I can ask him what we should do."
Sarah replied; "ok." And she layed on her back under the table, her right hand stuck upwards. Jake stepped out of the room, past the big brown wooden doors and into the hallway of the royal palace because the room they had been staying in for the last 2 days had no reception. That was for the purpose of making sure the demigods couldn't call others outside of them, in case they tried to escape or bring mortals there.
"Hello?" Said a voice on the other side of the line.
"Hey Derek, you're a child of Ares, right?" Jake asked.
"Yea, why?" Asked Derek. He was curious why Jake would call him because their boss had told them that nobody would be able to get in contact with him because he was going on a business assignment for a while.
"Well, as you know, I am on a business assignment. But the thing i that this assignment includes training 16-year-old demigods who have received their powers just today and we see to have an issue with the child of Ares." Jake explained with a neious voice.
"16?! But demigods get their powers when they turn 13. Why are they just getting them now?" Derek asked.
"I am sorry but that information is confidential. I just need some advice." Jake replied.
Derek was reluctant to not ask him again about why they were only getting their powers now, instead of at 13, but he also knew that Jake would never tell him if he didn't tell him the first time he asked for information. He didn't want to risk losing his job, or possibly even his life, just to know some confidential things of a few kids who received their powers late so he said "What seems to be an issue? I can help you out as long as I know the answer."
"Thanks. So, the isse is the fact that a girl, who we assume is the daughter of Ares, just attempted to use Will of the Weapon on a dagger that I threw under the table. But, instead of the dagger coming out from under the table and to her, the entire table came flying at her, she slid a few feet but when she tried to take her hand off the table, we realized that it was stuck. It has now been officially 25 minutes but it's still there."
"Umm… Jake? You're joking, right?" Derak asked.
"Uh, no? Why would I call you just to lie.?" Jake replied, confused.
"Well Jake, that's no normal demigod. Children of Ares can not move a table by will."
"...They can't?"
"No Jake, no they can't."
"Well then, what does that make Sarah?" Jake said, mostly talking to himself.
