Chereads / Zeus Changed My Fate / Chapter 46 - Roots and Gum.

Chapter 46 - Roots and Gum.

Jake walked around and gave them each one golden drachma. He told them to all put it in their bags. After they all put it inside, he told them to open their Iris cards once more. Once they had it open, he told them to put it on private view and said that they could select one item that cost one Golden Drachma, to be purchased with the coin he had just given them.

Max chose a Space Root. A Space Root is a plant that can give you the ability to breath, no matter where you are, for up to 2 hours. No matter you are under water, in a fire or, according to its name, in space with no oxygen.

Sarah chose a disguise potion. This one was self explanatory, a low-grade disguise potion that lasted 8 hours.

Alex chose molding gum. Molding gum is basically wax that you can chew, looks like gum and tastes like gum. The was is a one-time use product that can be molded into anything and when infused with magic, hardens in seconds. Commonly used to create keys for locked doors or to temporarily staunch the bleeding of wounds.

Trinity chose a Hydrating Hyacinth flower. When the petals are ground into a powder and mixed with water, it creates three doses of a hydration potion. The potion can immediately replenish somebody who has a depleted water supply, most commonly used in deserts or to boost the growth of rare flowers.

After they had all chosen their item, Jake Roo had them select 'buy'. When they did, a pop up appeared. 'Would you like to continue shopping? Or check out?' the message asked. They all clicked 'check out' and scrolled to the bottom of the screen. On the bottom, there was a black box with the words 'Iris Card Id Number' next to it. As Jake instructed, they all typed in their numbers and they had to enter their names into the next screen. When that was done, they all clicked a button that said 'prepared to receive purchased items'.

"Ok, now, this is when you would check to make sure you have enough money for the things you just bought because you never want to be in debt with Iris Inc. Because honestly, they overcharge on late fees. But, because you know that you have enough for now, you can just skip this step" Jake explained. "One at a time, I want each of you to throw your Iris bags on the ground. We can start with you, Max." Jake said.

Max nodded his head and raised his arm up. He threw his bag as hard as he could onto the ground in front of him. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, there was a faint glow foaming from where the drawstrings sat. About 5 seconds later, the light was gone. IF they had not been prepared for it, they would have thought it was just their imagination. Max looked up at Jake for guidance when he noticed he was holding back a laugh.

"What? Why are you laughing?" Max asked Jake angrily.

"Oh nothing. It's just that, you must have a lot of pent up anger inside of you. Well, at least that is what I would assume with how hard you threw the bag. Honestly, you don't have to throw it hard. You just have to set it on the ground with a little bit of force. You can step on it too, it all works the same. I just wanted to see you look stupid." Jake said while hiding a delighted smirk.

Max stared at Jake angrily and began to get up. Sarah stopped him before he could either embarrass himself farther or before Jake Roo got a real good beating. "Well then!" Sarah said loudly, drawing away everyone's focus from Max and Jake Roo. "Max! Open up your bag! I want to see what you picked!" She said with an over enthusiastic tone.

Max rolled his eyes at Sarah and said, "Yea. Whatever." And picked his bag up. To his surprise, his bag felt heavier than he had expected it to be. He had only ordered a root. How could it be heavy? He pulled open the drawstrings and peered inside. His eyes widened when he saw the root.

It was as big as his hand! The roots were thick and hard. Rock hard. He reached his hand inside and took it out. His hand only covered one side of it. It was also heavy too. He turned to Jake and said, "How do I even use this thing? It's ginormous for a root!"

"For that, you need to shred it up. Place a tablespoon of it under your tongue for 20 seconds and then spit it out. Although Space Root can be considered a life saving product, it is also a deadly one. If you swallow the shavings, within two days you will be on your deathbed. There is a cure tho, so if you do swallow it, just make sure you get the cure as fast as possible." Jake told him.

Alex stared in amazement at Max's huge Root. His eyes shone with excitement. "I'm going next!" Alex said with a smile. He set his bag on the floor and stomped on it, using the other option Jake had given them. Just like Max's bag had done, there was a golden aura for a few moments until it disappeared.

Alex excitedly grabbed his bag off the floor. Because Max's order had been so big and looked so cool, Alex had assumed that this would be the same. He had chosen molding gum after all, it could look like anything!

He tore his bag open without another thought and reached inside, pulling his item out, not even looking at it first. And in his hand sat a slimy, cold, white, ball of… ball of what?

Sarah veered away from Alex and the slimy thing in his hand. She could see the glisten and Alex's grossed out face as he held it. "That thing, that thing looks disgusting." Sarah said.
