Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Boy Wizard is Cursed

We came to an opening in the trees where I noticed the magic was the most powerful. I made them come to a stop as I glanced around a bit, whoever's following us kept themself hidden well. "Mangola, can you use your magic to dig here?" I asked her. She nods as she began to raise her sceptor and spoke a magic chant. We watched as a huge amount of dirt was removed revealing a large magic circle. So, I'm dealing with a very powerful wizard. I thought as much. "You, come out." I say without turning. At first there was no one stepping out of the shadows, "Your Highness? Is there someone following us?" Brims asks. I nod as the sound of rustling starts again. Then a little boy stepped from the bushes. At least he had the appearance of a child.

I could feel his mana increasing as he grew closer, Brim and Mangola was forced to their knees from the pressure. The boy noticed that it was not working on me. Well wasn't it obvious why? It's because...I let out my own magic power that engulfed his in mere seconds forcing him to his knees as well. My magic was much more powerful. So powerful that even my pressure could kill a person. I toned it done enough fo them to rise back to their feet, "who are you?" I ask. The boy glares at me and turned as if to run away, I grab him by the collar before he could get far. It's clear that a different person casted the magic spell, but that did not mean this boy was innocent.

"Nice try kid. Mangola, use magic to bind him." I order. Mangola walks up to him and used magic binding ropes to keep the kid from escaping. It won't last long but I only need about five minutes to break the curse that was clearly casted on him. I study him closely, thanks to my abilities I could see just where the magic was denser. It seems someone casted a memory spell on him. And the fact that he didn't have any signs of a transformation spell shows that he truely was just a kid. Interesting. I must have him. "Brim and Mangola, keep an eye out. I need the time to break this curse." I say.

If I'm right, whomever did this to him was long gone, but there was no harm in making sure. I began to cast a magic recovery spell. This should be enough to get rid of the simple curse casted on his memories. I must know what happened here. After about three minutes into the spell I was completely exhausted. Brim and Mangola glanced back at me with worry, I shake my head at them. It's clear that the curse was only simple at first glance, even with my abilities this was going to be a headache. I recast a more stronger binding spell on the kid as I realized he was starting to get loose.

I sit down on the ground and faced him. I was going to have to risk my life it seems. Because the curse on him is going to need someone entering his subconscious in order to wake him up. This had everything to do with the kid, and it was up to him to crawl out of his own mind to save himself from a very bad fate. I sigh, what a pain. I face my palms out towards him and released a golden array that will keep outsiders from interrupting. If that happened....well let's not think about that bad thought.

A soft light surrounds the boy as I projected myself out of my real body entering his subconscious mind. At first everything was pitchblack as I stood there looking for any signs of the kids inner self. I begun to walk the darkness for a long time, unaware of our surroundings outside of this state. I noticed a small light ahead, the more I walked the more I could see. That's when I saw the boy curled into a ball under that light. He was crying and seemed smaller than his outer self. "Little boy don't cry." I say as sweet and soft as possible.

He lifts his head showing soft blue eyes, this was unlike the eyes of the boy outside, which were pitch black. "Lady? Are you also dead?" He asked with tear streaked cheeks. Dead? I stoop down to his size to pat his head, "I'm not dead, and neither are you. This is actually just your mind." I tell him. He gives me a look of disbelief, I can see that he really is just a child right now. Something tells me that he has no clue that he has magic abilities. He must have gone bizaar because of another more powerful wizard.

"Mommy says not to trust strangers. I trusted a man and he killed Mommy, Daddy, and me. I tried to use my magic but it was too late." He says beginning to cry again. I see so he knew about his powers. A thought came to mind, was it at that time? "When you tried to use your magic what happened?" I asked. The little boy frowns and seemed to be thinking. "Everything went dark. There was so much blood. I....I don't remember." He says his voice cracking. It's as I thought, it was then. When he witnessed the death of his parents and the whole of this city was completely demolished by this small sized kid.

That wizard must have used a magic circle of protection on themself to keep from getting hurt or even worse killed. Even going so far as to cast a curse on the kid who would never wake up again even after such a huge mess. I really want to know who that wizard is, or if it was even a wizard at all. "What if I take you as my son?" I found myself asking him. There was silence for a bit before he finally stared up at me with hope. This kid was actually pretty cute and he also had soft curly and yellow locks. "I will be able to call you mommy?" He asked.

I smile and lift him in my arms, "only if you want." I say. "But how do we leave?" He asked. I looked towards the darkness, "that's easy, just wish us out. After all only you have that ability." I tell him as I walked towards that darkness one more.
