Chapter 35 - Chapter 34: What are these Feelings?

He shouldn't have asked. Doctor An plops down next to Princess Ara who was already eating her bunny, "aren't faires suppose to be vegetarian?" He asks. She stares at him as she eats, "is that some kind of stereotype? It's really getting old." She says with a mouth full. Kila sat leaned against a tree as she ate and studied the map, she was starting to realize that something about this journey is off. King Jero joins her, "something wrong?" He asks as he leans over to look at the map. She lowers it and stares out into the open field, "I'm not sure, don't you feel that the mana is dense here?" She asks.

He nods. "I noticed, it's normally rare to find a place like this, we must be really lucky," He says. Lucky? But why do she feel as though this was not a good thing? Normally if something was this thick with mana that means something looking to raise their mana level would want to come here. "You seem worried. I'm a bit surprised that you of all people would be this sensitive." He says reaching over to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear. Kila reacts immediately by stopping his hand, "what are you doing?" She asks him. He lowers his hand, 'sorry, I just thought it wasa in your way." He says leaning back.

Kila frowns at him, just because she was confused lately does not mean she will let him get close to her. If she let herself be the woman she became, what will she do if he found out the truth about her real self? What then? He'd look at her with disgust. That's what would happen. It's best that she continue only thinking of herself, and live a life by herself. It was a befitting ending for someone like her. Jero noticed the sad look in her eyes, it was obvious that she was fighting the loneliness that he always noticed in her expression. Even though she was very good at hiding it. There are times he'll catch a glimpse of her true feelings. Is that why he's been more interested as time goes by?

Even though he was not the type to become obsessive, he found himself watching her, becoming more aware of how special she was. But he noticed that she was keeping her distance from him, it was way too obvious. Kind of like she didn't deserve his attention. She builds this invisible wall around herself and it's impenetrable. She was right about this area though, he too could feel there was something off besides the dense mana. But as long as their very big unwanted guest stayed in the shadows things should go accordingly. He glances over to where the beast hid, it was clearly waiting for them to sleep, it was a smart creature it seems.

He narrows his gaze, the beast cowers and doesn't move from it's spot. As long as it doesn't ruin this peaceful moment, then that was what matters. They were too tired to deal with any more surprise attacks, so why not use his ability as the King of all faires and beasts to keep things peaceful? He may not be as strong as before, but he can keep it at bay for the night. When everyone goes to sleep he'll have to kill it. "What are you doing?" She asks turning her head as if to look in the direction that he was gazing in. "I was just deep in thought." He says covering her hand with his.

She stops and looks down at his hand, "I see." She pulls her hand from under his before placing in on her arm. He could tell that she was a bit uncomfortable, he stood and walked over to where his sister was. Giving Kila some space was the only way, he didn't want to scare her or anything, she might run away.

Kila blows out a breath of relief once he was gone, any longer and she might have caved willingly. What the hell is with this feeling? A man who is big and muscular was making her feel all womanly. It's funny really, if she thought that God would kill her off in her past life and then turn her into a woman in this life then she'd have been more ready for this strange feeling. But to suddenly think that she was fine with men? That was not the case. There was no way she'd just be like, "I'm a woman now, I might as well make men my preference." That would be unrealistic, right? That's right, it was normal to fear the unknown.

But if she really thought about it, when have she ever been with a woman in her past life? There was plenty of chances to go on a date with a beautiful woman, but she chose her work as the best doctor over marriage. Shakes head of all thoughts of her past life. This was not the past that she once lived, even then she was a lonely man that found women repulsive to touch. There was no way it was because of that. She peeks over at King Jero, but why was she being easily coerced by this good-looking man? Just by looking at him her heart would beat uncontrollably, this man she just met.
