Lyza POV
I can't wait for this year to be over even though it's just started. I was grabbing some stuff out of my locker when I noticed a shadow. "Hey aren't you the new kid?" This question just really pissed me off. I'm not a kid, that was a rude way to ask and why... does he have to look so damn good. I ignored all that. He gave me his name, Castion. What a weird name, thank goodness my parents didn't try to get more creative with my name.
"Well, Castion, you should know this is your school after all." I quickly left him standing there. I had to get to my first class and I didn't want to be late, at least not on the first day. He tried to offer to walk me to class but I didn't need a tour guide, I was all too familiar with the school grounds. I know the layout better than the principal.
Why is he still following? After having that dream three years ago I have been edgy and wary of strangers. I finally reach my class and go inside. I can see Castion outside talking to some other student. Good, I hope he goes on about his business now. I look up to see him coming in my direction right before the bell rings. I'm at a loss for words, I have never had a guy to as far as follow me inside a class and take a seat. The balls on this guy. As soon as I'm about to give him a piece of my mind I hear the teacher call out his name. "Ah Castion….." the teacher continues but I just blend it out and give a faint wave. I am so freaking embarrassed. I have to get my shit together. I mean why did I automatically assume he was in here for me and why does he still have that damn smirk on his face.
"Alright class we are gonna pick up where we left off from yesterday, " the teacher said but I was still a little humiliated to even pay attention.
"You know you can get a little bit closer," Castion says. I looked at him and rolled my eyes. I may have mistaken him for a stalker but that doesn't mean he has to have that smug look on his face. Hopefully, we only have this one period together. As the teacher drone on through the lesson, I'm constantly looking at the clock waiting for this class to be over. Finally, the bell rings, thank goodness that class is finally done. I rush out the class before Castion even gets a chance to say anything. I'm hoping we don't have anymore classes together. It's not that I dislike the guy but I find it hard to focus with him in the same room. I would never get any work done. I do a mental eye roll and walk on to my next class.
I get through my next few classes without any trouble. Now it's time for lunch. I head towards my locker for my special bottle of O2. I go inside the cafeteria, grab a tray, and look around for a place to sit. I'm staring off in my own little zone when I noticed someone sitting down beside me. Oh my gosh why can't this boy leave me alone but then I hear a friendly female voice. "Hi my name is Jordan," she said. I try my best to seem pleasant and speak back "Hey Jordan, my name is Lyza." This boy has really got me on edge.
"I noticed you were sitting by yourself so I thought I would join you."
"Oh you didn't have to do that," I tell her but she just smiles and continues to stay anyway. Jordan is going on and on talking about random things. She's trying to engage me in conversation but I just nod my head and listen.
"And over there is where the cheerleaders sit. But if I was you I would stay away from them. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but they aren't very friendly." But for some reason this peaks my interest. "Why not?" I ask. "Well you know how you hear about the cliché snotty girls," I nod my head, "well that's them." I take a sideway glance at the table she's referring to . I will have to keep that in mind, I think to myself. Something about them doesn't bode well with me and this is not me being paranoid this time. The bell finally rings to signal the end of lunch. I'm so grateful that this day is almost over with.
"Let me see your phone,'' Jordan says, so I hand her my phone. She quickly types in her name and number, hits save and hands it back to me. "Now you can call me whenever you want to." I just smile, say okay and get ready to head to my next class.
Finally this day is over and I can go home. When I walk in the door I holler out to see if Aunt Val is here but I was met with silence. I go into the kitchen to grab me a fresh bottle of O2 and a snack. I decided to sit on the couch and flip through the channels only to find nothing on TV. What is there to do in this boring town. I never thought I would be doing this so soon. I pick up my phone and decide to give Jordan a call. "Hey," she answers on the first ring. I ask her what is there to do around here and she tells me about a party tonight. I love parties, so I tell her to text me the address. We decided to meet up at the party.
