Laquetta gripped the handle of her new schoolbag which seemed much heavier than this morning, the sky seemed to be of a darker shade of grey and the school gates in front of her seemed much more ominous. She was confused and scared, Laquetta had heard many stories from her older friends about what high school would be like, how it's not that bad and would be fun. This was the place where you would get to do whatever you want... right? Parents wouldn't be hounding after you because of your little scuffle with one of your middle school friends.
But now that she was standing here, in front of the gates, she was worried. Worried about a lot of things, things that she never had to worry about before.
Is my hair okay?
Laquetta then looked down at her bag and gripped the handle tightly, she didn't want to stand out too much nor did she want to look like too much of a slob.
She stared at the floor, then at the gates. She sighed, might as well go in. With that last thought, she entered her own personal hell, which would be filled with fluctuating emotions that would always alter between happiness and joy to sadness and loneliness.
