The annoying sound of Laquetta's alarm woke her up from her comfortable sleep, tapping the button on her phone many times before the annoying sound stopped. Rubbing her eyes she looked around her room, the first rays of sunlight were filtering into her room by the small cracks in her curtains.
Laquetta groaned as she rolled out of her bed, shivering slightly at the coldness of her room. Rubbing her eyes again as Laquetta grabbed her towel off the rack in the hallway and stumbled into the bathroom. She groaned again as she looked down at the bruises that were forming on her calf. I shouldn't have taken the game too seriously, thought Laquetta.
Smiling gently as she felt the hot water run down her body.
Laquetta stayed in there for twenty minutes before she rinsed her hair out, wrapped a towel around herself and ran back into her room, wiping herself down quickly and letting the air do the rest as she put her hair up and put on her uniform.
Her uniform consisted of a blazer (grey), tights (black), a tie (green with her school logo which also had silver accents and a mostly purple background), a white button-up shirt, a pleated skirt (purple with hints of white in a checkered pattern) and a pair of black leather flats.
Straightening her shirt up and brushing her hair out, she made herself a cup of hot chocolate and ate some cookies before grabbing her bag, and once checking that she had everything and said goodbye to her mum who was still sleeping and slipped out of the house.
Putting her headphones in and walking down the road to school and enjoyed the music and admired some of the trees that were blooming, it was early spring. Laquetta knew that time would pass soon enough and soon she will be in year 8, year 9, year 10, year 11.
Stopping in front of the gates, Laquetta felt cold. Folding her headphones and stowing them safely into her bag and putting her phone on silent and turning off the data, drew a pale hand through her long, straight hair. Letting out a breath, Laquetta straightened out her shoulders and stood up straight and walked in through the school gates.
Goosebumps rose as she walked into the school and walked down the quiet hallways, she walked into the science block before a voice sounded behind her.
"Hey. It's you," said Vincent.
Laquetta rolled her eyes, "Well, good morning to you too."
"Oh, good morning. How are you, Laquetta?"
Laquetta observed Vincent out of the corner of her eye, "I have been well. You?"
"I have been better. Say, what do you think of the school so far?"
"I don't know. I think it's alright."
It was Vincent's turn to roll his eyes, "Of course you do. Miss Perfect, getting everything done and done well," Vincent said in a mocking tone.
"Well, if you're going to talk like that then we don't need to continue this conversation then."
Laquetta walked into her form room and sat down, digging into her bag and pulling out the first book to the Young Samurai series. The book drew her in and she was immediately hooked; this book is a work of art, there was detail but not overbearingly so! Everything was just right!
Laquetta looked at her watch and murmured in discontent, it was already 08:56. Looking around it seemed that everyone has already left. Shoving her bookmark into the book and then shoving it into her bag she zoomed off into her first lesson. Which, annoyingly, was Maths. Again.
Walking briskly to the first lesson she entered and stood at the back of the classroom where everyone had been told to wait because there is a new seating plan for everyone and their seats will be permanent until the end of the term.
Laquetta zoned out when other people in her class were given their seats, only nodding silently when she was told hers, and her seat made Laquetta quite happy. It was a seat next to the window and in a crevice, where the teacher didn't have a great view of what she was doing; she could go on her phone and whatnot. Going over to her seat, she set her bag down and put her planner and pencil case on the table.
The teacher was giving out their new maths book and telling them to write the details down on the front cover, things such as name, teacher, room, subject etc, before they started the lesson officially.
They were learning about the area and perimeter of 2D shapes again, something they had just finished in middle school, and while most didn't struggle with the topic, some of the people in her class were even able to mix up the formula for area and perimeter.
After finishing the sheet, Laquetta looked around the room and saw that most of her classmates had partners and it seemed that hers wasn't here today. Or maybe they were ditching?
She shrugged, either way, she was happy; Laquetta hoped that her partner wasn't annoying or problematic.
Carrying on with her work she breezed through her first maths lesson. She got up quietly and after packing her bag she headed to her next lesson, which was science.
The process of seats repeated and so did the books, and it was 20 minutes into the actual lesson before the real lesson actually started.
But once they did they started learning about cells, the characteristics of animal and plant cells; this was something Laquetta had intense fun with, the drawing and the labelling making her book look neat and perfect, her handwriting made neat as well. She didn't talk much in the lesson, nor did she talk much to the people around her who had tried to get to know her.
The people around her were nice, but she did not want to talk to them. So she nodded kindly but did not ask too much and carried on with her work. They looked upon her as the quiet girl who was too shy and fawned over her.
On the other side of the classroom a boy watched her intently, he was a smart-looking boy, he wore his uniform neatly, and his build was more athletic. He had poufy blonde hair, clear pale skin, pink lips and captivating blue eyes.
His name was Samuel Anderson, and he was a quiet person too. He never spoke too much and only spoke when to give advice, Sam was always a lonely child; he preferred books over people, this was most likely since his parents were rarely home and he was taken care of by the house staff. Spending most of his time in the library he soaked up information like a sponge.
He observed this girl, whose mannerisms were similar to hers, and he so badly wanted to talk to her, but every time he did he felt the awful feeling of apprehension and trepidation filled his stomach and it churned within him; he had heard about the girl, Laquetta Hewitt, talked about by his friends. How she was a beauty, she had a dreamer like quality that was seen within her eyes. He didn't know why he was so entranced, but he was. So, Sam let himself be.
Sam looked back down at his work and engaged with his new friends, nodding along and keeping his thoughts to himself.
Laquetta's day carried on until it was the end and she was picked up from school by her mum and dad. Her dad was home tonight. Well, tonight was going to be awkward.
