Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

It was a Sunday afternoon when Laquetta was asked to go to town with Lucy, who had wanted to introduce her new friend to some of her friends. So she thought it was a great idea to pressure Laquetta into going; on the other hand, Laquetta was extremely reluctant to go. She just wanted to stay home.

But here she was standing in front of the mirror and contemplating whether or not she should cancel and just stay at home, even though her mum already said that she can go. Laquetta sighed and brushed her hair again before looking at the time; they were supposed to meet at Bell-throw park at 11:00. It was already 10:36. So, without further contemplation, she picked up her bag, checked that everything was in it, says goodbye to her mum and leaves.

The walk there was peaceful, she let herself drift away with the music. As an avid music lover, she listened to anything, classical, podcasts, pop, nightcore etc. It helped make reality fade away and always made her happy; the music had acted like a constant companion for her. It was always there for, more than people have ever been.

As Laquetta entered the park, she saw a group of people who were sitting on the ground in a circle, and just before she was about to walk past them and search for anyone else, Lucy called out to her.

"Laquetta! Over here! Heyyyy!"

Before rushing over and engulfing the taller girl in a big hug and then dragging her over to the group. There were four boys and four girls, including the two. The boys were either sitting or laying on the ground, whereas all the girls were sitting crossed-leg.

The boys were Samuel, Lewis, Toby and Vincent. The girls were Lisa, Leslie, Lottie and Charlotte.

"Guys! This is Laquetta!"

Laquetta smiled slightly, "Hello, my name is Laquetta. Nice to meet you."

The boys greeted her with a series of head nods and smiles, but the girls were already fawning over Laquetta, saying how her hair was amazing and her choice of clothes suited her extremely well etc. All starting to talk about random things, talking about school, family, relationships and crushes etc.

Samuel was sat next to Laquetta, on her left and Lucy was sat on her right. Samuel was internally screaming, but his face didn't show any changes, only his ears were red. But Lucy. She's a cinnamon roll, and her face was red like a little tomato, and she kept stealing small glances at Laquetta and was rubbing her face continually.

The group soon migrated to a small café where they got a bit comfier and were away from the changes in the weather. They talked a lot among themselves, but they did it quietly as to not disturb the other people in the vicinity.

Samuel got more and more infatuated with Laquetta the more she talked about herself. Or the little she talked about herself. He was curious about every action and gesture she made, he wanted to know where she developed it and where all her insecurities come from. He wanted to know everything. So, he listened intently to her few words; Samuel wanted to see if he could hear double meanings and hidden emotions from the words. Sure enough, he did hear some.

But Lucy did too. This girl is sharper than most people give her credit for, and she knew she had a rival. At least she has a few tricks up her sleeve.

The group continued to talk and their opinion on Laquetta was positive. Numbers were exchanged and Instagrams were added, as well as many other apps Laquetta never really showed an interest in were downloaded to her phone.

"It'll be an easier way for us to contact you and for us to invite you out," said Lottie.

"Thank you," Laquetta replied whilst smiling, "I had a lot of fun. We could do this more often."

"Yeah we should," Lottie replied whilst smiling back.

After that everyone went their own way and Laquetta headed home, but what she didn't know was that someone had been following her the whole way home.

The figure smirked from beneath their hoodie, "I've found you now."
