The tension in the air somehow frightened Rina as a strange pressure started to surge out of them. Mylus was the mighty dragon and Xie Luo, the enchanting fox. They continued to glare at each other until Rina coughed.
Rina placed her hand on her chest in shock. She broke in cold sweat. Mylus turned to glance at her and saw her flushed and sweaty face.
Waving his head to dispel the pressure in the air he bent down to pick up Rina. She laid limply in his hands her eyes unfocused then she fainted.
Xie Luo also rushed up to check on her. Placing her hand on Rina's forehead she looked up at Mylus in shock, "She's burning up". Mylus gazed at Rina with worry and snapped at Xie Luo, "I can see that!"
"It's all your fault Mylus!"
Mylus was bewildered "My fault?! Xie Luo this is not the time to be shifting blame." Xie Luo exhaled quietly and glanced at Mylus," What do you think is wrong with her?" Mylus shook his head despodently, "I'm not used to children so I can't tell".
"I thought you said you can teach the little one everything" sneered Xie Luo. Mylus put on a straight face, "I dont remember saying that" Xie Luo's eye twitched.
While they tried to figure out what was wrong with Rina, Rina's temperature continued to soar. She let out little whimpers of pain and shifted uncomfortably in Mylus's arms. "She's awakening."
They both turned to the cave's entrance and saw a hunchbacked oldman walk in. He leaned on a wooden stick as he walked. His head was bald and his long grey beard dragged on the ground. He had one eye closed and the other was bulging. His wrinkled face was filled with pockmarks. He was dressed in faded and dirty white robes. An aura of mystery surrounded him.
Mylus and Xie Luo breathed out a sigh of relief on seeing the old man. "Sage you're here" Xie Luo stood straight her face full of arrogance. The old man's lips twitched. He could swear he just saw the woman panicking yet here she was, displaying a calm and arrogant demeanor. He shook his head lamentably and walked straight to Mylus' side ignoring her completely. A vein bulged in her forehead.
Placing his wrinkled finger on her forehead a bright light enveloped the whole place. They all covered their eyes with their hands and waited for the light to fade. Then they heard Xie Luo's loud shriek. They turned to her and noticed she was looking at the ceiling in horror. They also looked up and what they saw made their eyes bulge in horror.
A still asleep Rina was floating in the air with black and white lights surrounding her. The Sage's face looked solemn, "Two opposite energies, how is that possible?" he murmured.
Mylus' face was also grave "This will be troublesome. And it's also the worst opposites light and darkness".
"Light for the god race and darkness for the demon race." Xie Luo also spoke up. Both men turned to look at her and saw the crazed smile on her face. Her face was glowing with excitement.
Mylus furrowed his brows, "Xie Luo, any solution?" She shifted her eyes from Rina to Mylus "Of course there is" she shrugged but spoke no more. The Sage and Mylus waited for her to speak more but she didn't and continued to stare at Rina. "Xie Luo please save her. Her weak body can't handle the energies. I'll owe you one."
Xie Luo looked at Mylus with surprise evident on her face. After the surprise faded a crafty glint flashed in her eyes. Looking troubled she asked the Sage "Do you have any solutions?" The Sage shook his head "None". Xie Luo smiled " But I may have a way to get over this crises. However, I will save her on only one condition". "Name any price Xie, just save my daughter" pleaded Mylus. Xie Luo sighed as if making a huge concession "I only ask to be her master."
Mylus nodded then realised he fell into her trap. His face flushed red in anger "Xie Luo!!" She picked at her ear ignoring his out burst then flew to Rina's side. The little one's clothes were soaked in sweat and she was writhing in agony.
A black gem tied to a silver thread appeared in Xie Luo's hand. If one looked at it carefully they would notice it was a strand of hair. She carefully tied it around the child's neck. The dark lights in the surroundings was beginning to be absorbed by the gem until only the white ones were left. Xie Luo chanted a spell under her breathe and the white light were quickly absorbed into Rina's body. She took her into her arms and landed carefully on the ground.
